How to enable anonymous access to mysite?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have problem to enable anonymous access to mysite

The structures

I have enabled anonymous access in IIS and Sharepoint Web Apps. I have also enable permission for anonymous users in Site Permission.

Anonymous users can open http://sharepoint but whenever they try to open http://sharepoint/my, they are required to key in user Username and password.

I have tried to open mysite anonymously using Firefox and Chrome but the result is still the same.

Enable Anonymous access to SharePoint 2010 site
This video shows how you can enable anonymous access to a SharePoint 2010 site. Anonymous access is usually turned on when you wish your site to be accessible through the internet without anyone having to enter login credentials to enter. Keep in mind that before doing steps in this video, your IT department needs to turn on anonymous access at the IIS level and also need to open up the appropriate communication ports for exposing your portal on the internet.

SQL and Outlook: Enable Database Access and Updates Through Exchange and Any E-mail Client

Using Microsoft technologies, you can insert, edit, query, and delete database entries using any e-mail client such as Hotmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or even WAP phone. While e-mail is certainly a powerful and widely used tool, it is usually not integrated with an application for performing any tasks other than sending reminders. The application scenario described here, an e-mail-based SQL update program, uses a simple data model; however, this solution will apply to any data model that you are working with. It will also eliminate the need for complex n-tier Internet applications and serves as a low maintenance solution for providing data access.

With Anonymous access disabled, is there any way to use an AJAX-enabled WCF Service?

I have a website where anonymous access is disabled but I want to user an ajax-enabled WCF service. Configuring the service's binding security to use "TransportCredentialOnly" with clientCredentialType="Windows" seems like the obvious thing to do; indeed, many posts in various places suggest this approach. Unfortunately, however, it doesn't work. I always get the error "Security settings for this service require 'Anonymous' Authentication but it is not enabled for the IIS application that hosts this service." How can I configure the service to function correctly. I'm running IIS 7.5 with .Net framework 4.0. Thanks.

Using UserName to enable disable access to InfoPath form fields

Hi Everyone, I have created a browser enable form in InfoPath and restrict certain fields depending on the official logged on User Name. Now this works most of the time but my problem has to do with the "case" of User Names for some of the site users. In most cases the User Name is an exact match but for some reason, some user's names are reported by SharePoint (the Welcome at top of screen) with some parts captilized. Example - my hidden filed on the form reports my user name as xrs_master but the Welcome up top says XRS_Master - and the fields act as though I am not the correct user and won't enable. On the other hand there are users who's user name matches the case exactly and all works fine. Why is SharePoint reporting the user name differently? And if this is the reason they don't match, how do I fix it? Any Ideas? Many thanks in advance for help!

Reporting Services 2008 - Anonymous Access

Hello,   In SSRS 2005 I was able to grant anonymous access to my reports by changing the authentication mode for the Reporting Services virtual directory in IIS to Anonymous and then adding the 'account used for anonymous access' to the permissions on the appropriate Reporting Services directories (in report manager).   Now with SSRS 2008 there are no virtual directories in IIS.   I tried to follow the instructions given:   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281310.aspx (Authentication Types in Reporting Services)   Which instructed me to use the custom AuthenticationType, and following the instructions here:   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281383.aspx (How to: Configure Custom or Forms Authentication in Reporting Services)   which just got me an error: The Authentication Extension threw an unexpected exception or returned a value that is not valid: . (rsAuthenticationExtensionError) Get Online Help For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors   Any ideas on how to set up anonymous access to SSRS2008?   Thanks for any time and help!   -Tim

Anonymous Access to "Event Export" on sharepoint calendar display page

I am using a SharePoint calendar with events added in the list. When an anonymous user tries to use "Export Event" on the display page ,the user is prompted for a login. Is there a way that an anonymous user can download the .ics file without logging in ? Is anonymous access even possible ?

Anonymous access on Excel Viewer web part for a no access .xslx file?

I have a public facing SharePoint 2010 Enterprise website with anonymous access enabled. I'd like to present information (a pivot chart) from an .xslx file using the Excel Viewer Web Part. It works fine when I place the .xslx file in a document library that the anonymous users can access. I would, however, like to remove anonymous access from the .xslx file and only expose the chart from the .xslx file using the Excel Viewer web part. When I alter the library permissions to remove anonymous access to the library that holds the .xslx file, the Excel Viewer web part displays an "Access Denied" message to the anonymous user. Is there some other way to achieve this?

MySite Alternate Access Mappings not working

Hi, I had some problems with my upgraded SP2010 server last week. Something happend and the web.config files for each web application was reset to base settings. I had some backup on these files and got everything working again. The only thing that is NOT working is Alternate access mappings for MySites. if I use the server:port url all the webparts work just fine. But when I set it to the AAM I used before the "crash" no webparts work. It is just the message: Web Part Error: "This page has encountered a critical error. Contact your system administrator if this problem persists. " Does anyone have an idea where to start looking for bad configuration? Regards Joakim Gustafsson Stratiteq Sweden

Anonymous access - User prompted for login after click in web part area

I have a MOSS2010 site, internet-facing using anonymous access. I've found workarounds to many of the anonymous access issues I've come across, but I don't know how to fix this one. Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated. A user visits one of my pages with a OOB webpart. If they click within the area for that web part, essentially selecting the web part, it prompts for a login. I don't want my users getting prompted for a login, but I don't know why they're being prompted in the first place. According to the logs, it looks like it is trying to access _layouts/wpribbon.aspx. They aren't clicking on the items (titles aren't clickable), it's the area within the web part box. Can I make that area non-clickable?? Go to: www.carlile.biz/careers/pages/current-openings.aspx Click on the area around the Locations or the Current Openings listed. Either will prompt for a login. Even with a valid login, the view does not change and no further options are presented.

Anonymous Access & Web Service Errors

Getting errors on all my InfoPath web services now that I've enabled Anonymous Access at the Web Application level -- not on the Site Collection itself (the other Site Collection is Anon enabled). I found this thread in the pre-Sharepoint 2010 forums. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointinfopath/thread/14d2c1c2-32d4-430b-a191-c01e1ade52fa Does anyone know which parameters or changes I need to make in 2010? Many thanks...

Custom Web Part doesn't work with in anonymous access

Hi there, I have a custom webpart in a farm solution deployed to my site. Anonymous users should be able to view the site, however they can't because they are required to login due to the custom web part. If i remove the webpart from the page, anonymous users can view the site perfectly without the need to login. There is nothing really special about the webpart. It's a visual web part which uses the site and it's web data to display a sort of menu. Any idea? Thx in advance! Brecht

Anonymous access for mobile users

I have set up anonymous access on a sharepoint 2010 publishing site, and that works fine. However, when I try to access the site from a mobile device ( or in a browser with a url of http://server/pages/default.aspx?Mobile=1), I get 401 Unauthorized.

In the IIS log, it's showing a 401 on: /_layouts/mobile/mblwp.aspx

Any suggestions for getting anonymous to work for mobile users?

Automatically Set Anonymous access to subsites off with Parent on and permissions inherited

Is it possible to automatically set anonymous access to all newly created sub sites to be off when the Parent site is on and permissions are inherited? I know it is as simple as going into each site and disabling but to prevent users with forgetful minds we would like the default to be off. I have done a lot of research and do not see a solution. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
