Write XML files from DataSet

How can i write complex XML from a dataset? I use DataSet.writexml, and it returns simple XML. If i write out the schema, using DataSet.WriteXmlSchema, the schema is correct and the same as the XSD.   Example (DataSet.WriteXmlSchema)   <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes" ?> - <xs:schema id="ISEFTSessionLoginRequest" xmlns="" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:msdata="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-msdata"> - <xs:element name="ISEFTSessionLoginRequest" msdata:IsDataSet="true" msdata:UseCurrentLocale="true"> - <xs:complexType> - <xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> - <xs:element name="Envelope"> - <xs:complexType> - <xs:sequence>   <xs:element name="Username" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0" />   <xs:element name="Password" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0" />   <xs:element name="ClientVersion" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0" />   <xs:element name="ClientTrackNum" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0" />   <xs:element name="SessionId" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"

Problem Saving Files to A Sharepoint 2010 Site from Office 2010: Saves locally by default rather tha

Hi we are starting to use sharepoint 2010 / word 2010 and have found an interesting bug/problem. Sometimes when a user tries to save a file (by clicking on the save button in the quick access toolbar for word 2010) the save dialog comes up with the users local "Documents" folder as the path (not the correct sharepoint path where the document should be saved).  (I should say that we are creating the file from sharepoint by using a toolbar on the document library, with the new button)  We are using a content type and a template attached to the document library when we create the file.  This is really annoying because the user might not notice that the document is saving locally and not to sharepoint.  I have found a strange workaround which involves clicking the [File] tab on the ribbon in word 2010, then clicking "Save and Send" and then clicking the save button again.  At this point word 2010 seems to "remember" that it is trying to save document to sharepoint and shows the sharepoint document library. This is a real nuisance which could lead to documents being lost/misfiled if people don't realize that this is happening.  Can anyone help me? Thanks Kevin krd

How to read/write files > 2GB ?

I need to read very large NTFS files (> 2GB in length).  But Filestream.Read/Write only supports 32-bit int offset and count values (unless there's an overload I can't find) How can I avoid having to read these files in 2GB "chunks" and then manually re-compose the file from the chunks? Or should I be using an alternative to Filestream that supports reads/writes > 2GB?   What??? Thanks! DT

Problem with security on ISS?, why can i write HTML file but not XML files

hi guys

I have a web app the manages articles, users can generate articles which we store in the database and also in a folder inside the application in html.  We also have the ability to generate real time alerts, to targetted audiences but the list of audiences was cached from an sql query on the web server and at times, the cache was cleared by the server. so i wrote an http module, and the module now runs the query using a timer, and this then wrties the audiences to an xml file within a folder in the same application (same as my html files)

Now the weird thing is im getting the system.io unauthorised access exception, when i try to delete and overwrite the xml file.  Yet this doesnt happen when i write the html files.

Now although my users do login, there credentials are maintained via an sql database table, not windows security or the asp.net security model.

Ive checked the folder that we publish our applications up to (its a mapped folder like a virtual directory), and i cannot see the network service or asp.net machine accounts usually used in iis5 or 6.  But i dont have the ability to change this anyway.

Why would the html file write fine, and the xml file throw this error.

I also changed my code to used HttpRuntime.AppDom

How to write the manifest file for Reg-Free COM if there are two DLL files? ( 32-bit and 64-bit vers

Our program, Core.exe is using two different COM dll files for 32-bit and 64-bit OS.

Normally, the user will be required to register either one of the dll files using 'regsvr32' command in Command Prompt window.

However we decided to use Reg-Free COM using a manifest file Core.exe.manifest located alongside Core.exe.

The problem is, now we have two DLL files, 32bit.dll and 64bit.dll.. how do we configure the manifest file?

For example if there's only one dll file, my manifest file should look like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">
 <file name="32bit.dll">
  <comClass clsid="{9DFC3817-ACDA-4BB4-C74B-6507DF3A25E5}"
       description="Some Class"

Since the 64bit.dll is using the same clsid, tlbid and all.. is it possible to specify two file names in the 'file name' field above? not sure how to handle this..

Clean Web.Config Files (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

.NET 4 includes a new version of the CLR, and a new .NET 4 specific machine.config file (which is installed side-by-side with the one used by .NET 2, .NET 3 and .NET 3.5).

The new .NET 4 machine.config file now automatically registers all of the ASP.NET tag sections, handlers and modules that we've added over the years, including the functionality for:

.ASP.NET Dynamic Data
.ASP.NET Routing (which can now be used for both ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC)
.ASP.NET Chart Control (which now ships built-into ASP.NET V4)
What this means is that when you create a new "Empty ASP.NET application" project in VS 2010, you'll find that the new default application-level web.config file is now clean and simple:

How to transfer files between computer and mobile device using bluetooth

What is Bluetooth? How can I have it on my computer?

Bluetooth wireless technology is a communication technology that allows two devices to communicate wirelessly. Most of the notebooks are nowadays equipped with bluetooth. For those notebooks or computers that don't, you can use a bluetooth dongle to add the functionality and it just costs you around $5. Although higher price range bluetooth dongles are available but it makes no sense of buying them if you just plan to connect your mobile device to the computer. Look for one that has Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR (Enhance Data Rate) supporting speeds of upto 3Mbps and with Vista support. You can easily have one of that kind in just $5.

Setting up bluetooth to work on your computer

Just Insert the bluetooth dongle in the USB.
It should get detected by your Operating System and should be ready to use. In case it is just detected as a new hardware, you need to install drivers for it that came with your bluetooth dongle (You can try Google to find the drivers).
Once drivers are installed, a bluetooth notification icon will appear in your system tray.
Right Click on it to access Settings (This may vary with your bluetooth dongle).
Make sure you have turned Discovery On (It allow others to see your computer).
Switch On the bluetooth on the mobile device.

dynamically adding sql server columns based on number of files in fileuploader

I want to create a new table to sql database at runtime.  The column names would be "Name", "Date", "Event".  I would also like to have one more column name "Image" but the problem is that since the amount of images will vary, I want the application to count the amount of files in the Multiple fileuploader and then add a image column to the table for the respected amount of files.

For example if i am uploading 3 files in the multiple fileuploader, the names should be "Name", "Date", "Event", "Image1", "image2", Image3"

I also would like that table name to be name dynamically from the textbox Name when the user enters the information.

I have the following code to make a new table, but I dont know how to name the fields at runtime like previously asked please help!!!

Dim objConn As New SqlConnection("Server=<servername>;uid=<userid>;pwd=<password>;database=master")

Printing resource files

Wrong Account being used to access files - Help - No Impersonation

I run a simple .aspx website on a Windows Server 2008 machine.

There is NO impersonation, and System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name returns NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE, which it the account which the application pool runs. In my web.config, I have <authentication mode="Forms">.

I tried to test the security of the application and server by removing file permissions to the .aspx files. I was greatly worried when the website continued to run without problem (it should not have been able to read the .aspx files).

By turning on file level auditing, I discovered that the .aspx files were being read by the machine$ account (if the machine is called Serv1, then the files would be read by the Serv1$ account, which seems to have access to all files on the local machine).

Is this a security breach or is this behaviour by design ?

Please can somebody assist, as I am worried.
