SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services is a repository technology that stores and manages metadata for SQL Server. Instead of building database schemas over and over, Meta Data Services allows you to freeze an entire schema for use in other projects. You can also use these schemas for training, testing, or debugging. In this article, the authors will review the various components of Meta Data Services and show how it can be programmed using a Visual Basic client, XML, and XSLT. They will also show you how to manage and manipulate your metadata by generating a simple database schema using a SQL Server repository.

I am running windows Vista Business, SQL SERVER 2005
so what going on here
I've look around the forums but I can't get the solution for my problem. I've installed Visual studio 2010 with sqlexpress edition. Then I have renamed my
computer. After renaming my computer I've deleted the directory
C:\Users\uporabnik\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
Data\SQLEXPRESS. After restart, I have started VS2010, open Server explorer and I've added the connection to a new database. I've been able to add new tabels, bu when I've tried to add a diagram, it didn't work. In properties window od the database I
saw, the the database owner was oldComputerName\username not newComputerName\userName. In
sql server management studio I've reanmed the user oldComputerName\userName to newComputerName\userName. After attaching the database it worked fine.
I've returned to Visual studio 2010. When creating new database, the owner of new database is oldComputerName\userName. The next tip was renaming the SQLServerMSSQLUser$ComputerName$SQLEXPRESS(and other names with sql...) in
Local Users and gorups in Mange My computer. After restarting the compter I've got the same result. When creating new .mdf file in server explorer of visual studio, the database owner is oldComputerName\userName.<
i want to create an infopath form that can receive the data out of the slq server database and edit the data in the database and then submit it.
here is what i did so far.
i created a data connection to a sql server database to SUBMIT the data.
also i created a data connection to the same sql server database to RECEIVE the data.
when i open the form the user and the user's details are already filled in the form, now i need to let the user edit the data in the fields or add a new data in a field and then the form need to be submitted to a temporary database to be checked first by
an approver and after approval the form must be submitted to the real sql server database.
i tought about that the approver just need to click a button and the data will be submitted to the the real database.
both the temporary and the real database has the same tables and fields.
i just need to know how to edit and submit the data to the temporary later to the real database
I use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express on Windows 7.
Don't ask me how, but when I was erasing a database I no longer desired, I erased the 'Database' folder on the server.
Pitiful I know, but I am only learning how to use databases this year... and I'm not even learning it on MSSQL.
Every time I try to connect to a new instance, it is created without any folder to place databases and running a script that used to restore a database I have returns an error saying that the token 'RESTORE' is incorrect. This didn't happen before.
I've tried uninstalling SQL Server and SQL SMSE and re-installing. No matter how much I try to erase every residue of past installations, the new installation always recovers the state of the previous one, showing exactly the same server structure and database
How do I remake the entire server?
P.S. I'm curious as to why this information is stored in my computer, information that I am unaware of. Is the Server a part of Windows itself? Why can't I control the information the system stores and simply erase any evidence of a previous server so I
can create a new one?
I am reading xml file using dataset.readxml() method. . . after this i want to send this data to the database. I want c# code to create a database in sql sever and push watever data in the dataset to that created database.... i am dealing with many xml documents... some could be of same format.. lets say... if 2 docs of same format exists... then it shud not create new database or new tables.. it shud push the data to the suitable format...as i am a newbie its a bit confusing for me... i dont even have any idea on how to proceed with this... please reply if you know the answer for any part of the requirement... any help is very much appreciated..
I'm trying to setup SSRS using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. Everything seems to be working except the database creation. When I click on the Database (3rd option down) then Change Database I run through the wizard. Put
in proper SA credentials. Accept the defaults clicking next through and when it gets to running the script to create the data base I get the Error I pasted below. We do not have a G drive so I went into SSMS and changed the Default Database settings
to point to the F drive (where our other DBs reside) - I got that tip off of this forum but it didn't fix my issue. Any ideas what to try next? Do I need to stop and restart a service or something? Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

I am loading sql server 2008 r2 developer edition into Windows Vista Home Basic. Product loads correctly with no error messages; except will not create database engine. And will not create integration services. When I try to open MMC, I will get error "MMC
could not initialize the snap-in. Product may not have been installed correctly."
I understand this is a known issue for SQL Server 2008 RD installing on Windows Vista? What is the workaround or fix? Hot fixes available for this issue from support.microsoft.com do not install on my Windows Vista Home Basic machine.
I don't know why I can't create a new database in SQL Server Management Studio Express.
This is the reason:
CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
