Persist data in a dynamically populated ListBox in a user control

Hi All,

I am trying to persist data in a dynamically populated ListBox in a user control. Here are the details

I have a user control which contains a a listBox and button. On Page_Load of user control I am populating the ListBox control with some values. On Click of button, I am trying to fetch the values which I have selected in ListBox. Though this seems very simple and straight forward I am unable to fetch values.

My Page_Load Function

void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)

My Click Function

Protected Void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

       string strValue = listBox.SelectedValue

I have placed brake point at Page_Load and on click function, I am seeing that the moment the breakpoin

Marshalling Your Data: Efficient Data Transfer Techniques Using COM and Windows 2000

The way you choose to transfer data is vitally important in a distributed application. Windows 2000 provides several new features that allow you to transfer data more efficiently. Lightweight handlers allow you to write smart proxies that can cache results and perform buffered reads and writes, minimizing the number of network calls. Windows 2000 also allows you to use pipe interfaces to transfer large amounts of data efficiently through a read-ahead facility. This article illustrates several ways to improve data transfer in Windows 2000 using these new features. It also reports the results of transfer time tests and provides recommendations for transferred buffer sizes.

Need help on populating data on a datagrid using SQL Join

I have a table called Leaves. Fields are,LeaveIDPersonIDActingPersonIDIn Person's table, I have,PersonalIDEmployeeCodePersonNameNow, in the datagrid, I need to show,PersonEmployeeCodePersonNameActingPersonEmployeeCodeActingPersonNameNow, I know how to write the SQL Join to get the data populated. In which case, I need to display data, PersonEmployeeCode = 0001 PersonName = John ActingPersonEmployeeCode = - ActingPersonName = No acting Person Now, I am stuck here. How do I do a conditional join statement? Please help! RegardsKush

DataGrid ValidationRule or IDataErrorInfo validation code called multiple times for each data change

Following my enquiry regarding a problem in Datagrid validation, for which managing exceptions is apparently a problem, I tested the two other methods: using validation rules, or implementing the IDataErrorInfo interface. I ran into other problems there, more insidious this time. This has been done on Windows7 (32-bit), .NET 4.0.30319. 1) IDataErrorInfo When this interface is implemented, the this[string columnName] property is called four times for each modification: two times before the cell enters edit mode (with the old value in the corresponding property) two times when the new value has to be validated (with the new value) It strikes me as not really efficient, is there something wrong with my code? Here's the C# part: using System; using System.Windows; using System.Collections.ObjectModel; using System.ComponentModel; namespace DataGridTest2 { public partial class MainWindow : Window { ObservableCollection<User> users; public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); users = new ObservableCollection<User>() { new User { Name = "Teddy", Age = "2" }, new User { Name = "Avi", Age = "19" } }; datagrid.ItemsSource = users; datagrid.Focus(); } } public class User : INotifyPropertyChanged, IDataErrorInfo { string name; public string Name

Data Binding a DataGrid to a list fetch the same data multiple times

Hi, I'm using DataGrid to show data through data binding. My data are provided in a list. The setup I have is the following: DataGrid "binded" to the default view of my list that implement IList<T> and IList interfaces (MyList<T> : IList<T>, IList, INotifyCollectionChanged)             CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(_myList);             // Set the data context             DataContext = view; T: is here my 'business object' that hold the data, called 'MyRow'. Then the columns of the DataGrid are bound to public properties of 'MyRow' object. MyRow class has a public property of type 'object' (public object data[int index]) and first column of datagrid is bound to myRow.data[0], second column is bound to myRow.data[1] and so on.   When the datagrid is displayed, databinding kick in and my data are showed in the control. The issue I'm having is that data fetching is very repetitive even for the same rows. For example for a datagrid with 20 visible rows, the first row is fetched multiple times even if the datagrid is not resized or moved. I put break point inside my list (MyList<T> into This[T] property (public T this[int index]) and i got multiple hits into the property for the same index. Fetc

Documentation on impersonation of Windows LiveID with data service?

Hi There, I'm not finding any documentation on impersonating a Windows LiveID over a WCF data service. I can find documentation on Windows Auth. For example, this article is great, but its first step is "Configure Your Service to Use Windows Authentication": http://geekswithblogs.net/manesh/archive/2009/04/23/setting-up-wcf-to-impersonate-client-credentials.aspx. I'm not sure how to do this when I'm working with the LIVEID. Alternatively, and even preferably, if there's a way I can manipulate the connection string the data service is using from the WCF endpoint, that would be ideal. I need to grab some info about the user in the Silverlight app that's using the data service, and somehow impersonate that user. The user is a Windows LiveID, which is what I have hard-coded in my connection string in my web.config. Thanks!  Web: http://invoc.net

Not able to read Config File data in Windows Service

While I'm trying to read connection string which is in App.Config file I'm getting error like "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." string strconn = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ConnectionString"].ToString(); For the windows service where I need to keep app.config file and how to integrate that config file with the windows service exe file. Thanks in advance.

How to save Windows credentials to a data source in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 using Visual

I am trying to create a shared data source for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 that uses a specific Windows user ID and password to connect to the database. Using the Report Manager web interface, if I create a shared data source and specify "Credentials stored securely in the report server", I can check the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. This tells SSRS that the user ID and password I specify are from a Windows user, not a SQL Server user. I want to create the shared data source using Visual Studio though. In Visual Studio I have an option to use stored credentials but there is no equivalent of the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. SSRS always assumes that user and password are for a SQL Server user, not a Windows user, and thus the connection fails. Does anyone know how to tell Visual Studio that the stored credentials are for a Windows user?
