DataForm in WPF

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hi

I'm new to WPF and kind of confused that there is no DataForm control? I always thought of WPF as the bigger sister of SL and therefore should have all the controls SL contains. Or am I missing something? How could I achieve the same results (validation based on attributes etc) in an other way?

Thanks for clarification!

In this month's column, John Papa shows you how the DataForm control works and how it can be customized.  He presents in detail a sample application that uses several features to bind, navigate, edit and validate data using the DataForm.

Dataform in Expression Blend

Can Expression Blend 4 handle a Dataform control? I added a Dataform control to my xaml in VS 2010 and when I now open the same project in Blend it throws an exception. Also the reason i added it in VS 2010 was that I could not find the Dataform control in Blend. Am I missing a reference/namespace etc...?

custom editform.aspx with dataform webpart

we created a custom editform.aspx for a sharepoint custom list and added  custom list form/dataform webpart (insert-->sharepoint controls-->custom list form)  control
to the webpart zone and set the visibility of default "ListFormWebPart" to false.

some of the  form field controls (not required fields) are removed from the dataform webpart. we are able to open an item in edit mode using this custom edit
form and save the  list item.

The strange thing we noticed is that this edit form(editform.aspx) always opens in  EDIT mode (with page | Workflow | Tools | Save and stop editing)

links on the page(below the navigation control). though  "save and stop editing"  link is clicked the page is posting to the server but with no luck, still able to see those links.

We noticed this only with editform.aspx but not with Newform.aspx,displayform.aspx.

DataForm EditTemplate Binding MVVM

Hi, I didn't found an active Silverlight formun , so I post my question here.

I have a problem trying to bind a property of my viewmodel from a DataForm EditTemplate template.

My Model and My ViewModel are:

 public class PersonViewModel
 {
 public Person PersonBase { get; set; }
 public string OtherData { get; set; }
}
 public class Person
 {
 public string Name { get; set; }
 public string Phone { get; set; }
 }

My View is:

 <StackPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot">
 <TextBlock>Other Data</TextBlock>
 <TextBox BorderBrush="Red" BorderThickness="1" Text="{Binding OtherData}"></TextBox>
 <toolkit:DataForm CurrentItem="{Binding PersonBase}"
    AutoGenerateFields="True">
  <toolkit:DataForm.EditTemplate>
  <DataTemplate>
   <StackPanel>
   <toolkit:DataField Label="OtherData">
    <TextBlock Text="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=OtherData}"></TextBlock>
   </toolkit:DataField>
   <toolkit:DataField Label="Name">
   <TextBox Text="{Binding Name}"></
