Hi, I have a parent website under which i want to create subsites on the fly using visual studio 2010. The subsites which i want to create have a common stuructre(in temrs of lists & custom). So i saved the template in sharepoint 2010,it becomes wsp and goes into soution gallery. Now how do i use this template say mytemplate.wsp,to create site in visual studio. i tried this using (SPSite site = new SPSite ("http://infml01132:5566/sites/VRND " ))             {                 using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())                 {                                       SPWebTemplateCollection myTemplates = site.GetCustomWebTemplates(Convert .ToUInt32(web.Locale.LCID));                     //SPWebTemplateCollection temlates1 = site.GetCustomWebTemplates(1033);                     //SPWebTemplateCollectio

What is the best method/practice for creating a site or functionality within SP 2010 that will allow

As it stands in Visual Studio 2010 I created a new Site Definition and then created 3 new application pages (aspx with cs code behinds; i will call them a/b/c.aspx) and they were added to the 'Layouts' folder in the project.  I also added a data connection Dataset.xsd with all of my stored procedure connections. Looking at my project,  I have 3 aspx pages with cs files in the LAYOUTS folder and one single default.aspx page in the Site Definition 'object'.

If I run the project my browser opens up and navigates to the url "_layouts/[project name]/a.aspx. I can navigate to pages b.aspx and c.aspx and perform my database interactions.  The problem occurs when I then have to deploy the solution/package to the server via a wsp file.  If I deploy the project and then go to create a new site and select my newly created Site definition, SP 2010 will only display the content of the default.aspx page that was located in the site definition 'object' of my project.  All 3 of my custom application pages a/b/c.aspx are no where to be found.

My question is, how to I deploy these 3 application pages?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration Web site on Windows 7 comes up empty

Using the information presented at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869.aspx (slightly modified to accommodate the fact that the SharePoint 2010 is today distributed in the form of an ISO file), I was able to finish all steps including all 10 steps of the configuration wizard. Dismissing the wizard should result with launching the browser showing the new SharePoint site - in my case however, that browser shows a completely empty page.

Similarly, selecting the SharePoint 2010 Central Administration entry from the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products folder (on the list of all installed products) results with the browser started at URL http://nik-workstation:23789/ - which is also completely empty

Since UAC is disabled - it ought to be the database. I believe that before installing SP 2010, I had SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 November CTP (this is required by Azure AppFabric development) and I was hoping that the SP installer will find the database that fits the best.

What is the best way to handle this? What is causing the problem?

Visual Web Developer 2010 Express "Copy Web Site" using different login

I created a site and am trying to grant another pesron access to upload changes to it without giving them my super-user login.

I made a login for her but I can't test whether it works or not because no matter how much I "disconnect" in the Copy Web Site page of VWD 2010, reconnecting to the same site always logs in as my superuser account without prompting me for a login again.

How do I test is the account it set up correctly before having her try to upload to it?    I want to force the login to remote site dialog to pop up again to test her account.

Any ideas?

Programmatically creating a SharePoint Site based on user input

I am working on developing a “Create Website Wizard” for SharePoint 2007 that would do the following (I am simplifying a little for the sake of this post):

1.      Take user input as follows:

Title:

Description:

Product Code:

Category (I, II, III):

The category will be a choice field (radio buttons or a dropdown)

C# - Creating web client for automating user activity on a HTTPS site

I've been wracking my brain for a couple of weeks on this.  I need to create a web client (I don't want to use the webBrowser control because I need this to be as lightweight as possible) to log in to a secure web site, and then effectively click links and fill in fields to get the data that would normally be displayed in the web browser.  I'm then going to parse the data and perform other actions with it. I have been working with HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse and many permutations of suggestions I have found while Googling my issue, but I can't get rid of my problem:  Sometimes when I effictively click the ultimate link that I need to click to get to my data, I get what I am looking for.  However, MOST of the timel, I get a response page that tells me my connection timed out and that I need to log in again.  I have tried messing with cookies and such, but to no avail. I know it's good form to post my code, but it is so sloppy and screwed up right now from tweaking this and trying that, that I'd rather not take the approach of fixing what's there, rather I'd like to start with solid, clean code to begin with. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ALo
