Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
I really don't know if this is the correct forum, so excuse me if it's not.
Well, whenever I try opening a Blend 2 Silverlight 2 application in Visual Studio (2008), it says that the project type is not supported by the installation.

Any ideas?

Error trying to open WPF Xaml windows from Visual Studio 2010 in Blend 4

Hi I have Visual Studio 2010 ultimate, and expression Blend 4. I have created a WPF 4 project in Visual Studio and when i try to open the MainWindow.xaml file in Expression Blend 4 - i get an error stating that the file or folder is not a valid blend project. Is there something i need to install for visual studio to make blend able to edit WPF Xaml files in Blend 4? I can open blend4 and create WPF applications with no problem - its just trying to open a mainwindow.xaml created in Visual Studio 2010 in blend 4 when i get the error. I am running windows 7 32 bit. "Open in Expression Blend" feature in Visual Studio does not work

When I right click on a xaml I do not see the option "Open in Expression Blend". I have installed and reinstalled and reinstalled ... Expression Studio Ultimate (licensed under Dreamspark) but I saw no solution for this problem.

Installed Visual Studio 2005 on new laptop - can't open C# web services project solution.

Installed Visual Studio 2005 on new laptop - can't open C# web services project solution - get the 'project not supported by this installation' error. Tried re-installing to no avail. Have run various flavors of devenv as recommended in various posts. Still the same message. I can open the solution fine on my old laptop.    Update: We re-installed service pack 1 for VS and the problem was resolved.

Strange lockup in multithreaded application - Visual Studio debugger unable to break execution

Multithreaded C# application, Visual Studio 2008, Windows XP, Framework 3.5 SP1. This application is a little crawling utility to download pages from our website, extract some information and upload it into a database. It runs for a while, then somewhere between about 10 minutes and an hour in, it locks up totally, user interface and all. When I try to "break all" in the VS debugger, I get a message "cannot break execution". Now the confusing thing about this is that since the UI was locking up, I thought that some deadlock must be happening on the main UI thread. So I started stripping out any code and locks that were being acquired on that thread that might cause problems ... until there was nothing left. Even with the window simply spawning a bunch of worker threads on create, then totally forgetting about them and giving no reverse access, the lockup still happens, the UI still freezes and VS still can't break the execution.   There are 10 threads to do the crawling, and one each to do the processing and the uploading. The next thing I did was take out the uploading entirely to remove the possiblity of a deadlock in the SqlClient libraries. No difference. So now, the only things that could be really deadlocking the main thread that I can see are the centrally created HTTPWebRequest objects I'm using. WebRequest.create is supposedly thread safe

Not able to open sharepoint 2010 websites using visual studio 2010

Hi all,

When i m tryin to run a web application from wss Virtual directories im getting this following error and im using SP2010 with 8081 port and visual studio 2010.

For the past 2 days im googling and came across many solutions but nothin has fixed for me.

I tried creating website in 14/_layouts also but no progress.

 Here the scenario is

1) Sharepoint running at port 8081
2)Default port in my system is 80

 So i tried creating web applications under both 80 and 8081 virtual directories.
In both the applications when i am trying to run the following code,it throws the same error as follows:
SPSite oSite = new SPSite("http://Sitename:8081");
 The error is :

"The Web application at http://Sitename/ could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application".

So, anyone help me please. I am badly in need of this solution.

Visual Studio 2010 will not open my MOSS 2007 Site

I am using VS 2010 premium, Win Server 2008 R2, MOSS 2007 and are all installed on the same machine.

First, I when I try to connect with the server explorer...I get A SharePoint server is not installed on this computer which is not true.

Second, When I try to open a website through > open website > local IIS and click on my sharepoint portal site I get.....Unable to open website, Visual Web Dveloper does not support opening sharepoint sites. Why am I getting this? I am not using Visual web Devloper. I am using VS 2010 premium.

Why is it so hard to open adn/or connect to our sharepoint sites with VS 2010? I have no problem at all using Sharepoint designer to connect but I want to use visual stuidio.  I hate the designer. I think microsoft dropped the ball on this one.    Anybody know of a good article/tutorial on this?

Sharing Settings Between Projects in Visual Studio

This isn't exactly an ASP question, but this is the best Visual Studio forum I could find, so here goes...

I'm trying to share settings between two projects: a console app and a WPF app.  The WPF app only exists to view and change those settings.

So in my console app, I wrote the following class...

Public MustInherit Class Settings

    Public Shared Property masUserID As String

            Return My.Settings.MasUserID
        End Get
        Set(ByVal value As String)
            My.Settings.MasUserID = value
        End Set

    End Property

    Public Shared Property masPassword As String

            Return My.Settings.MasPassword
        End Get
        Set(ByVal value As String)
            My.Settings.MasPassword = value
        End Set

    End Property

    Public Shared Property pathToXmlDocFolder As String
            Return My.Settings.PathToXMLDocFolder
        End Get
        Set(ByVal value As String)
            My.Settings.PathToXMLDocFolder = value
        End Set
    End Property

End Class

 My WPF app has a reference to the console application, so it can access the members of this Settings class.
