Format Generic List Bound to Gridview

I have a generic list of a custom type. The custom type has a string and double.

I'm binding the list to a gridview and it outputs everything fine.

I'm trying to format the double column into a currency format. It is in a template field as I'm calculating a running total. I pass the value to a function that returns a double and adds the current value to a running total which I will show in the footer.

The format is not changing to currency as expected when using String.Format("{0:c}", GetTotal(Convert.ToDouble(Eval("Amount"))))

Any ideas on what might be going on and how to fix this?

Build an Easy Maintenance Intranet Site: Using Office Docs, File System Object, and OLE Structured S

If you've ever needed to build an easy-to-maintain intranet site, here's a solution based on Microsoft Office documents. Many sites require constant updating of their HTML, but the use of Word documents can simplify the process. This article details the construction of a human resources site that exploits the File System Object (FSO), OLE Structured Storage, and ActiveX capabilities of Word documents. This allows the HR staff to copy their revised or newly created Word files to the site, dynamically generate a list of links to their files, and free IS from the constant recoding of HR updates into new HTML pages.

Navigate through a generic list using a webservice

Hi I have a problem where I would have a dataset coming to me and I would break into 5 new generic LIST<>. Now the user needs to see one record at a time and navigate through the list Fields like               From date : Text box with calendar                To Date : Text box with calendar               Manager Reporting To : Drop down list                Buttons on Move Back  and move Forward Now I would have 4 such similar lists which I have to pick up from the audit table. When the user clicks on move back and move forward buttons he should be able to navigate through records in my list that I have fetched in the beginning . I can store it in a session or viewstate till it gets updated again. How do I achieve this. Can I also a gridview instead of textboxes. What should be the simplest way to achieve this. Thanks!

SOLUTION: Renaming the Title list column globally across the site collection

So, you screwed up like I did, and modified the Title display name of the Item base content type and it has renamed ows_Title across every list in your site collection? Here's how you fix it: //WARNING //If you have come this far, be aware that this tool is a blunt axe. With it, you can cause //all sorts of mayhem and chaos in your site collection. So, to use this, you must be desperate. //or possibly dumb. Apparently, I'm just as dumb as you, because I did it. This is why I wrote //this stupid thing, so stupid people like us can go right on being stupid. //Your choice of weapon in this battle amuses me. Shall we begin? using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using Microsoft.SharePoint;   namespace RenameField {     class Program     {         static void Main(string[] args)         {             if (args.Length < 3)             {                 Console.WriteLine("Usage: RenameField <url-to-sitecollection> <internal-field-name> <new-fieldtitle>");               &n

The account should be any account that has Full Control access to the SharePoint databases but is not an application pool account.  Additional Data:  Current default super user account: SHAREPOINT\system after this the computer starts working slowly and slowly The account that the log shows is the aplication pool account of the first site collection I created   I followed the instrucctions in this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758656.aspx I set new accounts to the superuser and super reader I also tried using the same account that the first error showed has superuser and super reader However  I always get this error when I try to access the Site Collection after performing this The user does not exist or is not unique.<nativehr>0x81020054</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack> In the sharepoint log I get this same error plus this Could not get token super user token, reverting to system account.&

Object Cache set with Portal Super User accounts. Access denied to site.

I have the same issue on multiple farms. In this example i'll outline this problem for a three tier farm. SharePoint web server SharePoint Application server (hosts central admin) Sql server After installation and configuration i have created two web applications (claims based auth with NTLM). https://portal.contoso.com https://mysite.contoso.com The client connects on the URLs to the web server (1st tier). All is working correctly and they can access the portal and their mysite. The log file keeps reporting that i need to configure the user accounts for the Object Chache. So, i looked up the required steps and executed these conform mcrosoft guidelines (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758656.aspx) All the steps run seccesfully. But when i connect to the URL i now get an access denied (even with the administrator who is site collection administrator) In the log file i get the following to lines when i connect to the site. Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More information: 0x80070002 Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More information: 0x80070005 I have exact the same issue on two other farms. Marc

ImageList and a system image list handle

How can I have an ImageList use an image list handle of a systems image list, such as one that can be returned from SHGetFileInfo ? How to get List ContentTypes using ECMAScript Client Object Model?

Hello SharePoint Experts, I have a document library in SP 2010 site which also has a custom Ribbon button. The user can select either a folder or a document/List Item from the document library. I want to disable the custom Ribbon button if the user selects the folder and enable it when the user selects document/List Item. I want to do all this using JavaScript/ECMAScript Client Object Model. I tried many things, but could not do it yet. I know I how to check if the currently selected item has a Folder ContentType or an Item ContentType. Code: var _clientContext = new SP.ClientContext.get_current(); var _web = _clientContext.get_web(); var _list = _web.get_lists().getById(SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedList());                                  _clientContext.load(_list, 'Title', 'Id'); _clientContext.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this, onListLoaded), Function.createDelegate(this, onListFailed)); function onListLoaded(sender, args) {                                   alert('onListLoaded...');        &n
