Comet/Reverse AJAX with visual studio 2010?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi, i have here a (internal intranet) site where users can preserve places for the lunch and pause... :)

Now, meanwhile the users count grows more and more and the ajax site that speeks with a webservice for the calculations und checks geting slower and slower...  user 900+

The site checks every 5 seconds for the actual state and uses groups for the users.

Ok, now i have researched on the web, and found the comet/reverse ajax aproach that the service can push the clients with events.

THAT'S NICE!

But i have not found any good asp.net tutorial with visual studio (2010) how i can use the asp.net standard controls and vs design mode.
Is there a framework for that stuff?

thank you for any help
Volkan

Visual Studio 2010 + Ajax Control Toolkit??? How To?? Anyone??

How does one go about getting the AjaxControlToolkit working in VS 2010 RC1 ??

What version of the tool kit (and or source) should i use??

I downloaded the latest (tool kit only) source and tried to build in VS 2010 RC1 build went fine but when trying to add the tool kit to the Toolbox in VS 2010 RC1 i get the following error:

There was an error loading types from assembly AjaxControlToolkit\bin\debug\Ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll

Inheritance security rules violated by type:

Ajaxcontroltoolkit.TabContainerDesigner Derived types must either match the security accessibility of the base type or be less accessible.

THANKS!!!

Ajax Control Toolkit for Framework 2.0 in Visual Studio 2010

I am new to ASP.NET and am using VS 2010 on a standalone machine to develop a web application in framework 2.0. The 3.5 Ajax Control Toolkit I have in my Toolbox tab is greyed out for my 2.0 app, but not for a test 3.5 app, so I am assuming I need to download Tookit just for 2.0 and for VS 2010. I am not sure where to find the right Toolkit. Everything I have found is for 3.5 or 4.0 and/or not for VS 2010. Thanks!

I developed a web app in VS 2010 using master pages. I am converting it to Ajax. Did an extensive amount of ClientScriptManager.RegisterHiddenField need to convert to ScriptManager.RegisterHiddenField.  However, the Class SctipManager does not appear in the object browser under System.Web.UI.  Am I missing an assembly?  I go into MSDN System.Web.UI namespace and it appears in the documentaion under that namespace.  Googling for information I keep running accross GAC something to do with Ajax extension.  Looked in windows/assemblies and did not see GAC. What is GAC?

Cannot locate ScriptManager in System.Web.UI framework 4.0.

My Configuragion:

Running in any cpu mode on a 64bit machine. I believe VS 2010 is running in x86 mode.

ASP.NET 4 and Visual Studio 2010 Web Development Beta 2 Overview

Many exciting changes for ASP.NET are coming in the .NET Framework version 4. This document gives an overview of many of the new features that are included in the Beta 2 release of the .NET Framework 4 and of Visual Studio 2010.

Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2

This is a big deal. This isn't ".NET 3.6" - there are a lot of improvements of .NET 4, and it's not just "pile on a bunch of features so you get overwhelmed." I've been working with and talking to many of the teams involved and even though it's a cheesy thing to say, this is a really customer-focused release.

ASP 4 - Whirlwind Tour around .NET 4 (and Visual Studio 2010) Beta 1

There's a lot of stuff that's new and added in .NET 4, but not in that "overwhelming-I-need-to-relearn-everything" way. More in that, "oh, this is way easier/simpler now" way. Like, moving data around with ADO.NET DataServices is easy, binding with client templates is easy, there's F# if you need it, the "dynamic" keyword if you need it, Silverlight's already installed, oh, and the parallel stuff will freak you out, but in a good way.

Short Overview of SharePoint Features in Visual Studio 2010

As you probably know, Visual Studio 2010 was announced earlier this week and it contains a lot of cool features and project templates for SharePoint developers. Below is a short overview for some of the SharePoint development related features and project templates.

About Dynamic Data in Visual Studio 2010 / .NET 4

Ref.http://aspnet.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Dynamic%20Data&referringTitle=Home&ProjectName=aspnet

Does anybody here have any pointers to screencasts, demos, webcasts for the latest enhancements in Dynamic Data as listed in above link? I'm repeating them here for ready reference :

  • EnableDynamicData method which enables Dynamic Data features in existing ASP.NET applications and DataSource controls
  • A new QueryExtender control, contained in the sample projects to simplify common data filtering operations. It supports a rich ASP.NET declarative query syntax that makes it easy to do things like search data for text or have filters based on ranges
  • A new Dynamic Data filter model that enables the developers to apply templates to pages just like field templates (including user defined filters)
  • New field templates of Email, URL and Enum columns
  • Support for inheritance in Entity Framework and Linq to SQL
  • Support for many to many relationships in Entity Framework
  • New Entity Templates which allow fine control over how an object is displayed and edited
  • DynamicHyperLink control for building links to tables and actions
  • Declarative support for D
