How to retrieve data from SqlDataSource and pass to a variable?

Hi there,

I have a page in my website where there is very little code-behind. I only have two lines of code in Page_Load() and the rest of the code is declarative ASP.NET code. I have a FormView control which uses a SqlDataSource to get some order information. The SqlDataSource calls a stored procedure called usp_GetOrderDetails, here's the code for the SqlDataSource:

    <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sdsFormOrderDetails" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ForexDB %>"
ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ForexDB.ProviderName %>"
SelectCommand="usp_GetOrderDetails" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure"
UpdateCommand="usp_UpdateOrder" UpdateCommandType="StoredProcedure"
<asp:ControlParameter Name="orderId" ControlID="grdOrders" PropertyName="SelectedDataKey.Value" />
<asp:ControlParameter Name="orderId" ControlID="frmOrderDetails" PropertyName="SelectedValue" />

Using Session to pass data between forms

In my app, I am displaying an Rss Feed, I have a button that takes the user to another form where they can select a them.  Upon selecting the theme, they are taken back to the original form.

If the user has selected which theme they want to view then they click on the button to change theme, I need to pass the information about what rss feed they were viewing through session so that once they select the theme they want they are redirected back to the main page and the rss feed they were viewing should still be displayed.

Since I've already bound the data to the xmlDataSource and DataList I am trying the following:

Session.Add("CurrentRssFeed", XmlDataSource1.DataFile);

Session.Add("CurrentDataList", DataList1);

I'm not sure I am passing the data over correctly and I'm not sure how to specify it in the page_preinit.

Any ideas???

Writing Data to database with jQuery Forms, ASMX Webservice, & JSON - help!

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to submit data from a jQuery form to a ASMX webservice? I have gotten everything on the form ready to be submitted to the database and now I am stuck on how to send it over using $.ajax(). Everything I have read tells me how to get data from a webservice and display it with jQuery, but not the other direction nor how to access the json data within the within the webservice service(similar to a Request.Form approach with ASP.NET forms).

In other words:

1. What do I need to do to my webservice to make sure it can receive data from the jQuery form.

2. What do I need to do in jQuery to receive an acknowledgement the save on the server side was successful.

I can explain more if need be, but if there is a comprehensive tutorial on not only reading, but also WRITING data with jQuery, JSON, etc. I would love to get pointed in that direction.

Pass Data between 2 WorkFlows

Hi, How do I pass data between 2 workflows. I am calling a workflow dynamically from main workflow using Invoke Method. And I am using OUT Argument for inner workflow to pass data to main workflow. But I am not receiving the data from inner workflow to main workflow.   Any idea?

IE 8 partially cut of my JSON data return from WCF service

Hi All, I am not so sure here is the right place to post my issue. I am using ExtJS treepanel and ajax call to wcf webservice and return JSON array. My service return array. If array count is less than 2, then IE partially cut of my JSON data return from WCF service. But FireFox is working fine with same JSON format string. Very interesting thing is that I try to debug with Fildder. so I have to put "." dot in my url "http://localhost{.}:1234/ then It is working fine.   I am testing with IE8. Here is the JSON format return from FF and FireBug. {"result":[{"href":"..\/EMP\/EmployeeSearch.aspx","iconCls":"","id":"8c362443-7bb3-427e-910c-87b391c6abf5","leaf":true,"text":"Employees"}]} Here is the corrupted JSON string retrun from IE using developer tool. {"result":[{"href":"..\/EMP\/E" [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", UriTemplate = "GetSiteMap", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Wrapped, RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] [return: MessageParameter(Name = "result")] List<TreeView> GetSiteMap(string node);

can a Workflow access a stored procedure and pass the parameters from the list data to the stored pr

The reason that I would like to consider this functionailty is because my table architecture is complicated and I do not want to modify my master table to accept all of this data where some of the data should be normalized into sub tables.  Has anyone see evidence of the stored-procedure parm approach?  Is this best accomplished through VS 2010 or can I do it through SPD? Thanks

How to pass page column value to data view parameters

Hi All, I have a page library with custom column, lets call it "FormCourseId". On that page I have data view which retrieves data from custom list filtered by page column "FormCourseId". In parameter wizard creates the following tag <ParameterBinding Name="ListCourseId" Location="Form(FormCourseId)" DefaultValue=""/> Then I try to use that parameter in XSLT of data view as a filter creteria.  <xsl:param name="CourseId"></xsl:param> It does not work for me. If I change data view parameter source from Form to Query String and pass parameter as url one it works fine. What is wrong with page column parameter binding? May be if FormCourseId column is not presented in form layout as a field(I do not need to show that field in user form of the page) it could not be treated as form parameter?

Getting data out of objects in a JSON response

I'm working on an MVC2 site that needs to update the values of a select list based on the value selected by a user in another list. This is the response I'm getting from my controller's JSON action: [{"Selected":false,"Text":"Client1Group1","Value":null},{"Selected":false,"Text":"Client1Group2","Value":null}] The problem is that the data object my function gets back is a collection of generic objects. When the following script runs I get two alerts, but instead of getting the Text value from my objects I get "undefined".var clients = $("#properties_ClientList");var groups = document.getElementById("properties_GroupList");//User selects a client nameclients.change(function() {    //Clear group SelectList    $('#properties_GroupList option').each(function(i, option){ $(option).remove(); });    //Repopulate group SelectList    $.getJSON("<%=Url.Content("~/Admin/GetGroupSelectListForReportEditViewAsJsonResult")%>", { clientId: clients.val() },        function(data) {            $.each(data, function(){
