Paging not working with two controls- Dropdownlist & Listview

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

So I am using EW + Access database to create a page.

This page contains two controls. First control is Dropdownlist which databinds with second control Listview.

This listview has paging on becuse of multiple pages. If I don't use QueryStringField paging works but if I use QueryStringField paging doesn't work and it goes back to first option of Dropdownlist.

I need paging to access specific records.

Can anybody help me with this issue.

Thx in advance!!

Working with DropDownList and ListBox Controls in ASP.NET

Using ASP.NET 3.5's ListView and DataPager Controls: Displaying Data with the ListView

Prior to ASP.NET 3.5, developers who needed to display a set of records could choose between the GridView, DataList, and Repeater controls. The GridView provides rich data features, but has a very boxy layout; the DataList and Repeater allow for a more flexible layout, but lack the "point and click" data features found in the GridView, DetailsView, and FormView controls. The ListView bridges the gap between layout flexibility and built-in data features.

This article, the first in a series of articles on the ListView and DataPager controls, looks at the ListView's many available templates and illustrates how to display data. Read on to learn more!

How to bind GridView and DropDownList controls using DataTable object

In .net framework 2.0, you can load a DataTable in memory by consuming a data source using a DataReader. In this version you will find the flexibility in accessing the DataReader means write access code once and use again and again using DataReader. To see the functionality of DataTable consider an example that is created using VS2005.

Dropdownlist in ListView

I have a transaction table with a field called product. There is a limited number of choices for product so I also have a product table. I am showing the transactions in a ListView with a dropdownlist for Product. The field Product can be blank (all works well then). The user can leave the field blank or they can choose from the dropdownlist. I am running into a problem with the dropdownlist in the Edit Template. No matter what the product is in the transaction file, I get a page error of "ddlEditProduct has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items". I have verified the product does exist in the product table.

My markup is:

<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlEditProduct" runat="server"
SelectedValue='<%# Bind("Product") %>' >
<asp:ListItem Selected="True"></asp:ListItem>

Manually coding controls such as gridview, listview, repeater, etc.

using vs2010 and .net 4

In my project I have a separate DAL built from class files that I'd like to use to store my code for CRUD operations against my database.

I'm having a hard time finding examples of how to code server controls like the gridview, listview, repeater etc., for CRUD operations manually, i.e., without a datasource control of some flavor.

I don't have any problem manually coding the referenced controls to get my data, but I do have problems when it comes to coding them to perform CRUD operations unless I use a datasource control. When I use the datasource controls CRUD operations seem to automagically appear out of nowhere after they're configured.

Can someone point me to some samples somewhere? Have I missed a section at MSDN?

Working with datepicker and input controls

Helloe all,

Please I'm developing a hotel reservation system and I have both "check in" and "check out" html "input"controls and I have linked these controls to the Jquery datepicker. Unfortunately, I'm not able to access the value of the controls in asp code behind (using their ids CheckInDate and CheckOutDate respectively).

Previously, I used asp textboxes and I was able to access the IDs in code behind but whenever the page displays and I click in any of the textboxes their respective datepicker don't show.

However, I'm able to access the html input controls in code behind when I add runat="server" but when I do that the datepicker don't show for both control when I click in the input boxes.

Someone help me so that I will be able to make the datepicker show as well as fetching/accessing the value of the input boxes (selected dates) in the code behind...... or how to use asp controls and add onclick functions to call the datepicker.

Thank you.

<script type="text/javascript">
        $(function() {
        $("#CheckInDate").datepicker({ minDate: 0, maxDate: '+1M' });

DataGrid Paging not working

I got DataGrid Paging functionality on, I can see the paging 1,2,3,4,5.... but when i try to click on it to go to that page the datagrid just goes blank (does not render any record anything). My code is below: <asp:DataGrid ID="dgArticles" AllowPaging="true" Width="100%" AllowSorting="True" AutoGenerateColumns="False" runat="server" OnPageIndexChanged="dgArticles_PageIndexChanged" PageSize="15" EnableViewState= "true"> <ItemStyle Font-Names="Arial" Font-Size="12px" /> <HeaderStyle Font-Bold="true" ForeColor="#FFFFFF" Font-Names="Arial" Font-Size="14px" BackColor="#B2C1D1" /> <PagerStyle Mode="NumericPages" CssClass="FooterButton" Font-Size="Large" /> <AlternatingItemStyle BackColor="#EAEAEA" /> <Columns> <asp:BoundColumn DataField="ContentID" HeaderText="Content ID" /> <asp:HyperLinkColumn DataTextField="Headline" DataNavigateUrlField="ContentID" DataNavigateUrlFormatString=

JQuery with dynamic ASP.NET controls (DropDownList)

I am mixing JQuery with ASP.NET webforms.  Adding dynamic controls and accessing the selected values with JQuery works differently under different circumstances and I am trying to establish the difference. Why does Senario 1 work in debug mode but not without breakpoints?  What does databinding to a GridView do that adding DropDownList controls to a asp:panel does not? Is there some sort of DOM registration going on in DataBind? All senarios use the same JQuery: var ddlCollection = $("select[name$='ddlDynamicDropDown']") Senario 1: Breakpoints on each line (Success) Add DropDownList controls to a asp:panel dynamically in the PageLoad method (Does the page lifecycle matter? OnLoad method instead?). Run the code Select values and click on a button firing a JavaScript function (Break in Debug) Break in JavaScript file Access the dropdowns and their selected values successfully Senario 2:  Run the Senario 1 code without breakpoints (Fails to locate the ddlCollection) Senario 3: Use a GridView (Success) Add values to populate the DropDownList controls to a Generic List. Bind the values to a GridView control containing the DropDownList controls Run the code Select values and click on a button firing a JavaScript function Use JQuery to Access the dropdowns and their selected values successfully.

Hi Gurus, I have a listview webpart. I want to apply a custom xslt to it. I am able to apply a custom xslt to the listview webpart, however I am not able to find a xslt code to support "paging" in the xslt for the webpart. Please bail me out. Thanks in Advance Regards, Bokes

dropdownlist filter listview

I want to filter the table in my Listview (mvc2) using values from a dropdownlist shown at the top of the page. The values in the list are hard coded. Next to the dropdownlist I got a "Filter" button that calls the filter method on the controller   How can I pass the selected value from the list to the controller? for now I'm using a classic asp:dropdownlist<form runat="server" method="post"> <asp:DropDownList ID="dropdownlist1" runat="server"> <asp:ListItem>Item1</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Item2</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem>Item3</asp:ListItem> </asp:DropDownList> <input type="submit" value="Filter" onclick="this.form.action='/Home/Filter'" />   thank you

dropdownlist controls in gridview issue

 the below code creates drop down each time i add a category to the database table. however, i don't wish to have drop down created each time - how can i have all my data in one drop down? thanks...  <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:CascadingDropDownTestConnectionString %>"  SelectCommand="SELECT [CategoryID], [CategoryName] FROM [Category]">  </asp:SqlDataSource>    <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="CategoryID"  DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1">  <Columns>  <asp:BoundField DataField="CategoryID" HeaderText="CategoryID" InsertVisible="False"  ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="CategoryID" />  <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Categories">  <ItemTemplate>  <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCategories" AutoPostBack="true" DataTextField="CategoryName"  DataValueField="CategoryID" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" AppendDataBoundItems="true"  SelectedValue='<%# Bind("CategoryID") %>' />  &

Login controls not working in VS2008

I am creating a asp.net 3.5 app using VS2008 on a Vista Ultimate machine. I wanted to add the login features using the login controls. I was able to create users and roles without any problem using the web admin tool that comes with VS. But when I try to login using the same credentials I am always getting "Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again." error message. I am using MS Sqlserver 2008 as the backend. I am not using any .mdf or sqlexpress databases. I even deletd the App_Data folder. In sqlprofiler, I see the web admin tool is connecting, but when I try to login using the login control, it doesn't even show up on the sql profiler. I tried to launch VS 2008 as an admin, still no success. I tried to browse with IE or FireFox. The dev site is not hosted on IIS yet, and it is running on the dev server that comes with VS 2008. I have squandered nearly one week on this issue. Ironically I was able to to create a website last year with these same controls on VS2005 and Windows XP professional, and the site is running like a charm!

The following is the entry in my web.config file:

<membership defaultProvider="SqlMembershipProvider1"

Multiple issues with dropdown list controls not working correctly

I am using WSS 3.0 and SharePoint Designer.  I have modified one of the items in my NewForm page so that I have a filtered lookup using a spdatasource. The filter works great, but my issue is that I can't seem to save the users selection back to the list itself.

Issue when using an ASP.NET dropdown list
I am able to bind the filtered spdatasource to an ASP.NET dropdown list control, however the item that is selected in the dropdown list is not being saved back to the list.  I am guessing that this is because the dropdown list itself is not tied directly to the appropriate list item, but... I can't seem to figure out how or where to do this.  I don't see anything in the data properties box in SharePoint Designer that allows me to tie the data back to the list itself.  Maybe I am just overlooking it somewhere?

Issue when using the native SharePoint Data View DropDownList with a filtered spdatasource
When I select "Data Fields..." on the dropdown control I get the Change Data Bindings dialog box.  From here I can select a data field to save the value back to (which resolves the issue noted for the asp.net control) and I can select my spdatasource, but... the display text and value fields below that never populate.  Thus, the dropdown list is empty when the user is filling ou

AJAX Controls not working....

I have a simple under construction page that I am working on for my company website and I am trying to apply the rounded corners extender to a panel at the top of the page for my title.  But when I put the extender on the page and set it up for the panel that holds my title and then view the page in my development environment I get a blank page.  When the page first loads you can see the title panel flash and it disappears.  Below is my code...

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"  CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>
<%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="cc1" %>

Gridview Paging resets form controls

Hi all,

I have a gridview which has 4 columns, each holding an ImageButton in a templateField column. When I click on one of these image buttons the clicked upon image is displayed in Image1 using GridView1_RowCommand and this works fine.

However, when I click on one of the page numbers on the gridview the Image1 control resets to its original state and loses its ImageUrl.

Below is the HTML source for the gridview.

<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataSourceID="sqlImages" PageSize="1"
<asp:ImageButton ID="ImageButton1" runat="server" Height='75px' Width='150px' ImageUrl='<%# Eval("Col1") %>' CommandArgument='<%# Eval("Col1") %>' />
<asp:ImageButton ID="ImageButton2" runat="server" Height='75px' Width

My user controls stopped working in Design mode! Why?

I have a few user controls that I have been using for months but now whenever I open a page in Blend that uses one of the controls I get an invalid xaml error. The project still compiles and runs and behaves just like it's supposed to but I can't edit xaml in Design view because of this error.

In the page I have

<local:ACAVariableWidth x:Name="CIDCloseButton" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Margin="0,0,17.54,15" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Width="174" Height="89" MouseLeftButtonDown="callerID_close" Text="Close"/>

The error is: The member "Text" is not recognized or is not accessible

In the user control xaml I have:

		<StackPanel x:Name="TopSP" Orientation="Horizontal" VerticalAlignment="Top" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Height="76" d:IsLocked="True">
			<TextBlock x:Name="ACATB" Margin="8,8,8.5,9.5" FontFamily="APHont" FontSize="32" Padding="5,0" Foreground="White" TextAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Text="{Binding ElementName=UserControl, Path=Text}" d:IsLocked="True">
