which way better for activation?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
I have a software which requires activation. I am going to save the user registration data on my sql server database on my host (online) via the WinForm registration form.

DO you recommended to do a normal sqlConection from the WinForm to the sql server online to syore the data?

or it's better to develop a web service for that?

what do you think?

How to debug feature activation by PowerShell

Hello, I got a bunch of wsp files with double the number features from my visual studio 2010 solution. So now I'm using PowerShell to add and install the wsp files to my server and to activate the features for the target site. In Visual Studio 2010 rightlicking and hitting "deploy" works perfectly fine while the PowerShellscript fails with a NullReferenceException. Is there a way to locate the error? I've tried to debug the PowerShell process but when VS2010 opens up to debug the process I get an empty window without any code. I'm using a Windows Server 2008 R2, SharePoint 2010 RTM and Visual Studio 2010 RTM.

Error Publishing Workflow - : Activation could not be completed because the InfoPath Forms Services

Recently our when trying to publish a new workflow we are getting the following error: Activation could not be completed because the InfoPath Forms Services support feature is not present. Another symptom is any existing custom workflows are not running. There are several older posts from SharePoint 2007 that indicate to disable and re-enable the SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features. I have tried that and I still get the error.  Looking through the ULS I see the following when I try and publish a workflow: 09/16/2010 15:04:29.48 w3wp.exe (0x2070) 0x0718 SharePoint Foundation General 8e2s Medium Unknown SPRequest error occurred. Sudden Error: Could not load type System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule - Urgent Help Please

I have a windows 7 machine with IIS 7. I was hosting WCF services on IIS normally and i had a couple of services running.
Suddenly (i honestly did not do any configuration changes on my machine) all these services stopped working. When i try to browse the .svc file i get the following error:

"Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'"

Just in case this information is helpful, all these services are running on the basicHttpBinding.

Please help!

Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule'

Hello everyone,

I am using VSTS 2010 + C# + .Net 4.0 + IIS 7.5 + Windows 7. When I open an svc file (in IIS manager, right click the svc file and select browse) for a WCF project in IIS, there is an error like this, any ideas what is wrong?

Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of

accessing site name through feature activation.

I am currently using the site url to get the site to create Features. Below is the sample code:

  string strUrl = http://localhost:8099/sitename;

using (SPSite site = new SPSite(strUrl))

        using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())

I would like to generalize the function. Currently, i am passing the server url and site name in the code as string variable. So when i activate the feature, the feature is activated for the site alone.

Is it possible to make the site as a generalised one. while activating feature through stsadm command, the site name is provided. Can the site name be taken from here for the code. That is in the site, i want to pass only the server url as site. when doing the activation, either way the site name will

Activation tab missing "Uses SOAP" section - COM+ Activation Tab

I'm looking into a migration path from our COM+ 1.5 components to WCF.  I was pointed to the "Uses SOAP" section of the Activation Tab, and how a web service could be used to communicate COM+ components.  I have been charged with creating a proof of concept, creating a COM+ component, activating this feature, and then using it with WCF.

My problem is that under Win7 or Server 2008R2 - this section of the Activation Tab is missing!

Here is a link of a screen shot showing the Activation Tab, as well as the documentation regarding "Uses SOAP" check box.

I have enabled IIS, as well as ASP.NET on my WIN7 virtual machine - but this section simply does not show up.

I've searched the web for information on this, but nothing seems to be available.

Any ideas?  Do I have to go back to Server 2003? XP?

Drag and drop application activation

I want to have a desktop icon that will be activated when files are dragged and dropped to it.  And then in the application, I want to process the files that were in the drop list.  Any ideas?

Check trial and registration version software and his activation

My question is

When the user opens the application for the first time after installing it they should be prompted to either enter a registration code or activate the     30-day trial.  The user should not be able to use the application before first activating a trial period or registering the software.

 - algorithim  is needed that generate key which match the installed software code.

Please let me know if any one have any soluation for this problem.

Does SSL activation in Reporting Services 2005 exclude the use of http in favor of https ?

Hello SSRS Community,

I would like to know if the activation of SSL (Secure Socket Layer) allow the use of both HTTP and HTTPS to access the report server

I have been asked by a web developer in my company to check if in SQL Server 2005 reporting services the activation SSL makes it possible to access the Report Server with both HTTP and HTTPS.
For example:
1. Without SSL activation you can use http://ServerName/ReportServer to access your report server
2. Once SSL is activated, we are wondering if it will be possible to access the Report Server with the following two links:
a. https//ServerName:443/ReportServer

Thank you
