Question about WSS SP1, Framework 3.5, AJAX-WebPart

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

We can't see any difference related to AJAX when installing the WSS SP1? No changes in _spFormOnSubmitWrapper()

in INIT.JS or in the body and form of default.master and application.master?

In addition to the code of http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb861877.aspx we still need the following additional code to make AJAX-WebParts run properly:

Code Block

protected override void CreateChildControls() {

private void FixFormAction() {

Think that there is actually errors in ajax toolkit for 2.0 framework...hmm

Im using VS2008, asp.net C# 2.0.

Recently i tryed to correct some stuff on my page and i had a friend to take a look at the stuff...

What i did was that i have Examples page with code examples. Then accordion panes for each code piece...And syntaxhighlighter for each code piece. The code that i presented is read from the txt files wich makes it easyer for me to put new examples on the site...

But the problem is now that two of my accordion panes are not working...and everything works in all other browsers this just happens in Internet Explorer. This is kind of weird and my friends explaination was that there is actually errors in the ajax toolkit dll.

Im using the latest version of ajax toolkit for framework 2.0 wich is 1.0.20229.

My friend said its actually amazing that the toolkit has been out there for that long and it has not been tested that well and that there i still errors in it.

You can test this by your self by doing the exact as i explain:

go here: http://www.simpa.dk/Examples.aspx?cookieCheck=true

click Csharp

and try to open the accordion that is from the bottom 2 or 1 they dont collapse...

but this works in all other browsers then Internet Explore

Entity framework simple question

First I am newbie using EF - so sorry on this basic question

I have a Project Table that relate to Company Table

When I Map with EF I Do not have property of CompanyId in the Project Object

But I have related Company Object

For example

Project p = new Project();

p.CompanyId è does not exist!

When I try addingit myself I get this error:

If I need just the Company id, and I don't want get it like

p.Company.CompanyId - because than the application try connect again to the DB and I don't want this, because I need just the CompanyId.

What the best regular way to get it?

Entity framework noob question

I have been struggling to understand how this works. In the image above i have these db tables generated by Entity Framework. Problem is it seems that when i use the code below to assign the location values obtained from a listbox to the division being created/edited EF creates a new location and then enters that locations id and the divisions is into the DivisionLocation table thus creating multiple locations unnecessarily, as depicted below. using (FRLEntities context = new FRLEntities()) { for (int i = 0; i < lstPicked.Items.Count; i++) { var lpn = cm.GetLocation(Convert.ToInt32(lstPicked.Items[i].Value)); Location cLocation = new Location { LocationId = Convert.ToInt32(lstPicked.Items[i].Value), LocationName = lstPicked.Items[i].Text, LocationParentName = lpn.LocationParentName }; //CurrentDivision.Location = new EntityCollection<Location>(); CurrentDivision.Location.Add(cLocation); } } Division Divisionid            DevisionName 1                            1st Division 2    &nb

Ajax Calendar Extender Question (about disable pass date)

HiI am wondering if it has anyway to disable the past day on the Ajax Calendar Control, previously, when we use CalendarExtender, we need to put a asp:Calendar and a textbox. we can use FindControl to find the calendar control and disable the past days.I am wondering is there anyway  could do the same stuff?Another question is how could I read the user selected date to the Date variable?Do i need to convert the date from the TargetControl ? E.g. Convert.ToDateTime(txt_DATE.text) ?Please let me know if you want me to explain more.Many thanksChi

Problem with ASP.NET Ajax, Framework version 4.0 and the SeaMonkey browser...

I have a site that I'm upgrading to the 4.0 framework and I've come across an issue with asp.net ajax and the SeaMonkey browser. It seems like the script manager is not registering the scripts on the page in seamonkey (but it works fine in IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari). Now, if I change the user agent string in SeaMonkey to use the user agent string from any of those other browsers, it works fine. So I guess my question is does ASP.NET Ajax check the browser's user agent to determine what scripts to register and, if so, is it possible that SeaMonkey is not included in the list in the 4.0 framework (I should add that it's working fine in the 3.5 framework so it seems to me like this is a difference between the two framework versions).

Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.

Getting some errors after implementing the calendar control.  Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.  Here are some screenshots of the relevant info:   Here's the scenario...  I compile code locally, view the pages in a browser locally, and it all works fine.  Another developer sits down at my machine, logs in with AD account (which create a local profile for his account on my machine), and gets these errors when viewing my locally compiled code.  He then compiles the same code on my machine again just for a test, but still gets the same errors.  Can anyone come up with any good reasons for this behavior?  I put a call into MS and they suggested creating a new profile for the other developer with the errors since this appeared to be profile specific.  Tried doing that with the same results.  Help!

ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load = No Ribbon :( JS errors on Default and at Central

Looking for suggestions to why my ribbon crashed, and I'm unable to edit or add pages to my SharePoint 2010 Site.  Machine is Win7 Ultimate, IE8, SP2010 beta, VS2010 RC. All 64 Bit.  Was working fine.  Tried repair on the frameworks, after googling.  Cannot find the Geneva bits.  Removed Norton completely to sucessfully go back a couple of restore points and removed KB980182.  Clicked throught the SP configuration manager and all went well.  Definitely logged on as administrator.  IIS settings look good.  Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; OfficeLiveConnector.1.4; OfficeLivePatch.1.3; InfoPath.3; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E)Timestamp: Sun, 4 Apr 2010 22:21:30 UTC Message: Invalid characterLine: 1Char: 1Code: 0URI: http://starman/ScriptResource.axd?d=Zq0NPA5_FNMrMkj2gVMBkGEJYiejAr4xkOPFxcm9WpzwRnp65ubolTfztiSaY8z2QKXyoZQvaI_7A65C7OJf0Eii_VL61Hoi5B23lMNvWC01&t=ffffffffec2d9970 Message: Invalid characterLine: 1Char: 1Code: 0URI: http://starman/ScriptResource.axd?d=Zq0NPA5_FNMrMkj2gVMBkGEJYiejAr4xkOPFxcm9WpzwRnp65ubolTfztiSaY8z2u8yiDywNtvdUdmHr93TbWc4U0SHQq0pQ3M2FA3FoezpYhgSt6jFnafzRYmCIg8LW0&t=ffffffffec2d9970 Message: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed t

AJAX Slider Question

I realized I incorrectly posted my code when I originally posted this query so I will try again.  I am trying to use a Slider Extender with the values 1.00 to 7.00.  The Slider works properly but I would like to add labels to the slider with the values 1 thru 7.  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!<asp:TextBox ID="M5_slide" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <asp:TextBox ID="M5_Bound" runat="server" Width="30"></asp:TextBox> <asp:SliderExtender ID="M5_SliderExtender" runat="server" Enabled="True" EnableHandleAnimation="true" Decimals="2" Maximum="7" Minimum="1" Orientation="Horizontal" TargetControlID="M5_Slide" BoundControlID="M5_Bound"> </asp:SliderExtender>

WCF and Entity Framework Design question

Should we be using Entity Framework entities as data contracts across the WCF Layer? If yes when why have the POCO support and code only been added to the Entity Framework? I was assuming it was with the purpose to remove the dependancy that the client will have on the database if the client depends on the Entities. If No, then does that mean we need to create Business Objects for each entity that exists in the entity framework model? Please advise. Thanks.Nilotpal

After enabling routing, get 'Ajax client-side framework failed to load"

Hopefully someone's come across this before... After I try using routing on my web form & load my page I get a few javascript errors one after the other: Error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.Error: 'Type' is undefinedError: 'Sys' is undefinedError: Object expectedError: 'Sys' is undefined   After fooling with this for awhile, I created a blank aspx page. It loaded fine. I drop a scriptmanager on the page & the errors above pop up. I've been using ajax controls up until this point, & they work just fine when I comment out my routing code so I know the toolkit is not corrupt. Its gotta be a config issue...just not sure where to go. It's a .net 4 web app on IIS7   Here's the code I added to my global.asax:void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)        {            routes.MapPageRoute("PageRouting","{department}","~/Subweb.aspx");        }protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)        {            RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);        }   In my web.config I added the assembly: &

Question regarding having multiple versions of the .net framework

Hi guys,

Sorry if this sounds silly, but it's been getting to me for quite a while now.  I've been having some issues installing both .net framework 3.5 and 4.0 on my computer since I have certain software that either requires one or the other to run.  I've tried over and over again to install framework version 3.5 from your web site, but each time, the result is the same.  I always get the error that I mustconfigure the framework from the control panel.  Yet I see nothing about that in the control panel.  Maybe it would help you to know that I had first found .net framework through IIS when I went to put that in there, and so I've been trying to install it from there.  Every other framework version works fine except for version 3.5.  I unfortunately cannot provide any logs since my computer is currently with the Gordon college techs due to another issue, but any help on this would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Net Framework Question

Why if I have net framework 4, 64 bit on my windows 7, when I boot up my computer it says it's missing net framwork 2?

error: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.

Hi all,

I m getting this weird error "ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load." in my project which none of my other team mates are getting. Even I tuk the solutoin from the TFS so there is no chances of a code error any where because we all have downloaded the code from the same place in TFS.

N there shud not b anything wrong with the client browser also on my machine because i can browse the same page from the dev server perfectly. Its just breaking only when i m browsing that page on localhost.

We are using .net framework 4.0, windows 7 and we have AjaxControlToolkit version 1.0 in our project.

the only things which might differ in my case as compared to other machine and server are

- Virtual directory.

Exception loading page with Ajax enabled WebPart/UserControl ?

The AjaxControl Toolkit has been configured onto our SharePoint 2007 Server, however when we bring up a page with a WebPart+UserControl, we get the following exception:

[4300] Exception Loading CPI RPI WebPart: System.Web.HttpCompileException: c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\a112516a\152cc84\App_Web_cpirpicalc.ascx.57bd6353.duu1hbuu.0.cs(138): error CS0433: The type 'AjaxControlToolkit.ToolkitScriptManager' exists in both 'c:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\AjaxControlToolkit\3.5.40412.0__28f01b0e84b6d53e\AjaxControlToolkit.dll' and 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\a112516a\152cc84\assembly\dl3\4bec602a\25bcac65_13efca01\AjaxControlToolkit.DLL'

The userControl+Ajax Portion of the WebPart works correctly when brought up under ASP.NET but not SharePoint.

Is there anyway to force this to go to the correct version?

Entity Framework Inheritance Question

I have two tables in my EDMX, I'll call them table A and table B.  I would like for table B to be inherited from table A, so A is the base type and B is derived from A.  I have set this up in my EDMX file as such by removing the association between the two tables, adding the inheritance and deleting the duplicate columns in B.  All fields are mapped properly and I have mapped the insert/update commands to stored procedures.  When I run run a test to save changes to B, I get no errors.  However, none of the fields in my base table, table A, are updated.  And when I try an insert, I get an error saying there is a foreign key violation.  When I checked with SQL profiler, I found that only the stored procedure to insert into table B is called.  I would need for the insert to table A to happen first, then table B.  But this is not happening and my update is not even touching table A.  Is there anything special I need to do to make sure that both tables are updated properly and the inserts are done for both (and in the correct order)?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

ASP.NET AJAX client-side framework failed to load

I run a asp.net 4.0 website. (I did the porting from version 3.5 to 4.0)

I receive the following error :

ASP.NET AJAX client-side framework failed to load

in a page where I set scriptmanager EnableCdn="true" and there is a microsoft ajax extension Timer on the page.

this is the code:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnableCdn="true">
<script src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

If I set EnableCdn="false" and refer to js locally es:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnableCdn="false">
<script src="../../jsScript/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

All works fine!

I receive the error only on the production server.

update panel woes... question for superstar AJAX gurus

This has got me completely confused... not sure if I've been at it too long and am missing something, or if this is a bug?

I have a webform with an AJAX update panel. In the panel there are 2 controls. One is a textbox, the other a listview.

I'm using the ClientScriptManager to take advantage of the "OnKeyUp" event to cause an autopostback.

When text is entered into the textbox, it runs the textchanged event, which puts data in the listview.

So far so good. All works fine with one exception.

Problem is that with IE8 the textbox loses focus on the SECOND text entry, even though it's specified in my code to focus on textbox after the textchanged event fires. And with Firefox, it doesn't cause the textchanged event to fire at all.

I don't get it??

Here's my code...

    Sub Page_load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Me.Load

        TextBox1.Attributes.Add("onKeyUp", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(TextBox1, ""))

    End Sub

    Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.TextChanged

        Listbox1.Items.Add(New ListItem("ListboxItem", "ListboxValue"))

        TextBox1.Text = ""
