Need Syntax To Make Results of LINQ Union Return Non-Generic Type

I have the below SQL which works just fine:

SELECT     Message, CreateDate, AccountId, AlertTypeId
FROM       dbo.Alerts
SELECT     TOP (100) PERCENT Status, CreateDate, AccountId,
                          (SELECT     10 AS Expr1) AS AlertTypeId
FROM         dbo.StatusUpdates
WHERE AccountId = PassedInParameter

I have been going about trying to convert the above into a LINQ method and am having problems with return types.
As the above SQL illustrates, I am querying two distinct LINQ tables - Alerts and StatusUpdates -
and then attempting to perform a Union on them. In order to do the union in LINQ, I have to have agreeing types. So, I
am using "var" to make the results of "alerts" and "updates" generic before the union.

public IList GetStatusUpdatesAsAlertsByAccountId<T>(Int32 accountId)
            using (WorkbookDataContext dc = _conn.GetCont

PredictCaseLikelihood - strange result for a simple dataset

Hi, I have a some numbers between 1 and 431 and I want to use PredictCaseLikelyHood to determine the chances that any new number is a valid member of the existing set. My current dataset looks like this: 1 1 1 2 3 3 3 3 4 5 5 6 7 8 10 10 10 10 11 11 12 13 15 15 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 22 25 25 25 25 27 30 30 30 30 35 40 40 42 45 45 50 50 50 50 50 50 50 50 50 50 50 58 60 73 80 80 89 90 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 116 140 155 155 200 431   I use clustering to train the model with no holdout set. And I use the Mining Model Prediction Tab to test the PredictCaseLikelihood (normalized) result with a singleton query. As expected, when I enter new numbers between 1 and 431 the returned probability by PredictCaseLikelihood is very high (approx 0.99), however, when I enter positive outliers like 2000, the likelihood is INCREASED to 1, and if I give 2500 and above the likelihood is NaN. Any idea what is causing this strange behaviour? Is my dataset not fit for clustering and in that case why? I use SSAS 2008.   Thanks for any advice, Jørgen

Dynamic Class with Linq query Result

Trying to send the results to the UI which i have consumes this service. Kindly help me in this. Thanks query = db.Customers

VB: Linq to SQL in Dataset

Hello,I searched for two days now and did not find a solution...I want to use Linq to SQL in my new project. However I want to have the result of a linq query stored in a Dataset instead of directly showing it on a gridview.I only found C# code that a code converter was not able to convert. Unfortunatally I do not know C# at all. Does anybody have a VB code for that?Thanks in advance!RegardsThomas

Change Sqldatasource or LINQ to SQL into a DataSet? [C#]

Hi Everyone,I've saw a couple of threads on here and on different sites around this area but none I've tried have seemed to work.What I'm struggling to achieve is, I want to take a set of results attained by either a SqlDataSource or a LINQ to SQL Method and feed them into a DataSet. Why? This is because I have downloaded an example of a repeater which has paging programmed on it, but in the example it uses the DataSet.ReadXML method to read a pre-defined set of results in an XML file. As my results are constantly changing I thought it would be a good idea for the DataSet to attain them from the previous mentioned ways.I've lost count at the number of ways I've tried it, from setting up SQLConnection method seperately and the QS set as a 'string' then passing that through etc. to simply trying Dataset Items = PartialClass.GetAll(); - Which throws back Generic<List> cannot be converted to DataSet - or something close to that.I'm working from an example and incorporating it into my own project.Below is the code I'm trying to get working:C#:protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Call the ItemsGet method to populate control, // passing in the sample data. ItemsGet(); } public void ItemsGet() { // Read sample item info from XML document into a DataSet DataSe

How to setup Query Result Shaping for LinQ to SQL instead of Entity Framework?

Hi, I am new to this, and I am trying to implement a linq query similar to db.Genres.Include("Albums") command from mvc music store using my current DB setup. I realize that the tutorial mentions Checlking the "Include foreign key columns in the method" when creating the tables in ADO.NET, but if I am using LINQ to SQL classes, then how can I obtain the same effect. And how do I use db.Genres.Include("Albums") to simplify my life? Thanks

Return linq query in function

I try to return a var query from a function, but i'll get the error: Error:Error 41 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<AnonymousType#1>' to 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<System.Xml.XmlElement>'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?)  Code: protected static IEnumerable<XmlElement> GetModels(byte MerkID) { string rawXML = AutoDisk.GetModels(12345, true, MerkID, "2010", ""); XmlDocument xml = new XmlDocument(); xml.LoadXml(rawXML); var query = from feed in xml.DocumentElement.ChildNodes.Cast<XmlNode>() select new { nModelID = feed.SelectSingleNode("nModelID").InnerText, Modelnaam = feed.SelectSingleNode("Modelnaam").InnerText }; return query; } Whats wrong and how can i make this working ?

No Return Type for a Stored Procedure in a Linq to SQL Data Layer

Hello. First, I don't know if this is the right forum section to post this in, but I couldn't fine a more suitable one. Feel free to move this if it's totally worng. I have a weird problem when using LINQ to SQL and Store Procedures with a return value... The problem is that when I drag my SP's onto the "Methods Pane" the property field "Return Type" is set to (None) and greyed out. And here's the most weird thing... I created a test SP yesterday wich returned SCOPE_IDENTITY() and it worked flawlessly. Dragged it onto the "Methods Pane", could play with the return type property (hence it was not greyed out) and everything was working out nice. I used a ISingleResult<T> and could fetch the .ReturnValue... Today I was going to contiune to create the rest of the SP's i needed with a return type but today when I drag my Store Procedures to my Methods Pane, I couldn't access the Return Type property... I even dragged the SAME procedure I used yesterday (wich then worked great) and now I can't get the dbml-layer to notice that there is a return value... I've tried to create new solutions, new Data Layers, used different databases/servers, but still the same problem... Don't really know if it's LINQ or something else that's causing this... This is how part of my SP wich I used yesterday to test looks

Return type of Linq to SQL Stored Procedures

Dear all,

I am using .net framework 3.5 and sql server 2008.

In my project coding, I want to call stored procedures in sql server 2008.

return value is the object list which references the entity.

But I have the questions.

If in the entity named as "order", is it matching the properties or created through entity constructor??

In my case, I have two properties and one constructor which match one property.

public class orders

orders ( string orderid)

public string orderid {get;set;}

public string orderno{get;set;}

Return no result

I have a query like below.  It returns 25 records without the commented line in bold.  The 25 records all have SiteId of 823.  the currentSiteId is set via a property of this class.  The SiteId is nullable short (short?) in the SQL Server table (smallint null). The query returns no record when the line in bold is uncommented.  I tried using t.SiteId.HasValue & t.SiteId.Value.Equals(currentSiteID). I also tried t.SiteId.HasValue & t.SiteId == currentSiteID.  All of them return no record. Plase help.  Thanks.

public class MyRepository : MyApp.Models.IRepository {

        short currentSiteID;

        public short SiteID {
            set { currentSiteID = value; }

        public IQueryable<MyApp.Models.Account> FocusStudy()
            return (from t in db.Accounts
