How to make menus play Menu Popup sound

Programming in C# for .NET Framework 3.5:

I've noticed my Windows Forms menus (ToolStripMenuItems on a MenuStrip) do not make proper menu popup sounds when they open (a problem curiously shared by many flagship Microsoft applications, lately). How is this remedied? Is there just some flag I need to set somewhere? Or am I going to have to make a subclass of <some-ToolStrip*-class > and override <whatever-method-that-executes-when-menus-pop-up > so it properly makes sound? A bit of a daunting task for someone new to the language/library, however necessary.

If in fact the latter is necessary, any suggestions regarding the best class+method to override for the purpose?  Keeping in mind that I'd also like menu popup sounds for context menus, too.

email notification error 5.1.1

I am getting an error when sending email via asp.net.  The error is "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.1.1...User unknown."

However, the email is getting sent.  Why is asp.net returning this error?

I'm using VS 2008, vb.net,  running 2.0 framework.  This happens regardless of whether I'm testing my application from my local machine or running production version.  Also, I can send a batch of emails and get the error for some but not all.

I would like to be able to count of the error messages really being accurate, so this situation is unhelpful to our users, because they will start to just ignore all error messages.

A good case could be made that computers should not make noise except in response to a specific user command. We're going to ignore that and show you how to play custom sounds in a WPF application.

Advanced Basics: The Sound of Music

So you've got a burning desire to accompany your application's splash screen with a rousing chorus of "Funky Cold Medina" (that's Tone Loc for those of you who aren't children of the 80s). Prior to working with Visual Studio® 2005, adding even simple tunes and system sounds to your application could be a challenge.

SENS: System Event Notification Services and WMI Enable Flexible, Efficient Mobile Network Computing

Networked applications must deal with a host of connection problems ranging from timeouts to congestion to unavailability. If these applications can check the current connection status and, when disconnected, cache transmissions, they become more efficient. Fortunately, both the System Event Notification System (SENS) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) can send notifications to keep applications informed of network status. In this article, the author explains the use of several SENS interfaces, including ISensNetwork and ISensLogon, which trigger events for connects/disconnects and logons/logoffs, respectively. The author then shows how you can subscribe to each of these events, and follows with a discussion of when you might use WMI events instead.

How to Customize the Add Comment 'Items on this list require content approval...' notification in

WSS 3.0:

If content approval is turned on, the Add Comment section displays a fairly ugly notification. Is there any way I can customize that section through e.g. CSS or SPDesigner?

I'd like to change at least the text, and preferably the yellow exclamation image, and also the background if possible.

SoundPlayer Load / Play timing

I'm trying to create an application where I need sounds to play and pictures to appear at very precise times. So I have a sound that is suppose to play at, let's say 100 ms after something else happened. I'm using SoundPlayer.Play to play the sound on a Thread.Timer tick and that seems to work. However, the first play is slightly delayed (by ~40-50 ms) because it has to load the .wav file before it can play it. So, I tried using SoundPlayer.Load to load the file before I need to play the sound. However, this doesn't seem to make a difference. The only way I can make sure the first play occurs at the right time is to play the sound in advance (before opening the Window where all this occurs). Why doesn't SoundPlayer.Load seem to actually load the wav file completely? And how can I make sure the sound is loaded (preferably without having to play it).

notification email not sent when updating a task programmatically

I have a task that's in the task list and has no value in the Assigned To field. When I update the field like this: listItem[SPBuiltInFieldId.AssignedTo] = SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.ID; ListItem.Update(); The task is updated (the assigned to has filled in). But no notification has been send to the person in the assigned to. But when I change the assigned to manualy to another person, and then again to the person it was before, the notification is send. So the email works and the notifications are activated, why is there no notification sent when I change the assigned to programmatically?
