how to prevent the white space occupied by the hidden footer

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have a report which is of 3 pages. i have a footer which should be visible for the first page only and should not be visible for the remaining pages.

I have used the visibily tab and made it visible only on the first page, but when i am printing the report ithe footer is occupying the white space for the remaining pages also.

What should i do so that the footer does not occupy this white space for the other 2 pages??

Please let me know.

Will SSRS 2008 eliminate white space due to hidden columns?

I have many reports that hide/show columns based on either parameters or user input.  When columns are hidden the body size is not recalculated and also cannot be set through expressions.  This leads to at best extra blank pages when reports are printed, at worst reports that cannot be embedded as subreports into other reports because they off-set the elements around them when the area into which they are inserted automatically resizes in rendering.  This should be considered a bug in the current release (2005).

Is there any chance of this making it into the new version (either that the renderer recalculates the body width or that expressions could be used in fields such as body width)?

Image processing, determine white space and crop

I have created a image upload for our ID card system to allow users to upload new images, edit them and submit for approval.  This is all working well with a combination of asp.net (c#) and jquery to give a seemless editor etc.

We have had a few users who I cannot believe have scanned a photo of themself and then just submitted it with the A4 page of white and little photo.

I am wondering if anyone can help with a suggestion on how I could possibly reduce the load of these coming through (I can't believe they can be this stupid), it stipulates UK passport standards.

Would my only option be to check for a single continues colour that occurs and if it reaches a certain percentage point say 60% then to just send back an error stating they need to crop the image.

Can anyone help with providing sample or that I can use to move this one on.

I am still in disbelief on this one.  the other one is they take a photo of whole body and other in it and cut straight down middle chopping the people out but supplying a photo that no use for an id photo card....but that I can't imagine being solved programatically as I need to determine where their face dimensions are and what percentage of the actual photo is taken up by it and if it below a threshold reject it.

List diplays white page when hidden..

Can anyone help?

I created a custom list in sharepoint and given it appropriate permissions.

When one of the admin users openned the list, the web part is not visible and only displays a white page.

I know that the list itself is there because other users can view it properly. We are using microsoft Active Directory for authentications.

I want to give white space to the left of a label. Thanks

Prevent UnUsed space of nvarchar column

Suppose i have table like this:

 myTable table
id int not null,
myCol varchar(100) not null

myTable may have over 1,000,000 recordes. but in most of them length of myCol is lower than 20 char. So most of myCol remain unused. How can i prevent this garbage?

Large white space in the right margin of the report

I have a report where I hide or show a set of columns based upon the user selections in the paramters dropdown list. User could select option 1, option 2 or both. Requirement is that if they select option 1 then I need to hide the option 2 related columns. If they select option 2 then I hide the option 1 related columns. The tricky part is that they can also select both options then I need to show both options related columns. Normally I create dynamic column titles and column fields with the IIF statements and show only one set depending upon the selection and adjust the right margin. In this case I need to leave the right margin to the maximum columns width so it could accommodate the selection of both sets of columns.  The issue comes in When they select only one set of columns that leaves some ugly large white space in the right margin which is visible while previewing or printing report. Is there any way to fix this issue? This is SQL server 2005 reporting services.

Thanks for your help.

How to Fixed GridViews Header and Footer when scrolling in asp.net?

This article is to show you how to Fix GridView''s Header and Footer in a simple code with CSS and JavaScript

Show grand total running total in GridView Footer

In many scenarios we need to display Running total as well as Grand total in GridView footer. In this post i will try to explain in an easy way that how we can display running total & Grand total in a GridView footer combindly. To explain this solution using an example here i use a sales order report. The report contains all sales order amount in a tabular way. I will use a GridView to display sales order amount and use GridView footer to display Running total & Grand total. Let we have a customer table with id and name column plus an orders table with OrderID,CustomerID,OrderDate & Amount. Now our goal is to show all customers order with amount as well as page wise running total & grand total. Note that running total is necessary when you enable paging in a GridView where as Grand total is always you can consider.

Tab container rendered with visibility:hidden - This was reported over three years ago.

Here is (more) code that demonstrates the issue.  If the control in the host page is removed the tab control renders correctly.  Otherwise it is rendered with the visibility attrubute set to hidden as reported in the above link.  Is this broken or am I doing something wrong?

Hidden variable has no value

I know I have a valid solution, but the js is telling me that the value in the hdnRecordSaved variable has no value!
Even when I specify in my function the following, it still tells me it has no value:
var myTextField = document.getElementById('hdnRecordSaved');

When I put the full value of the variable in (ctl00_ctl00_cphTopCenter_cphCenter_hdnRecordSaved.value), I get the correct contents back ("1"), which I set in my code behind. However, I would prefer to just put the short name in since the masterpages may change, etc. Unfortunately, I know I can get around this with VS2010, but we are using VS2008.

What am I doing wrong with the js naming conventions that can't give me the contents? Here is my below js.

<asp:Panel ID="pnlMapFields" runat="server" ScrollBars="Both" Height="430px">

<telerik:RadTreeView ID="RadTreeView1" runat="server" DataTextField="Description"

inserting from gridview footer

I have been following the tutorials from Scott Mitchell on this site.  I am trying to insert a new record from the gridview footer.  I have my BLL set up as a .cs class in the App Code folder.  When I fill in the fields and click add, nothing happens.  The page refreshes and the text boxes empty, but nothing is added to the database.  The edit and delete functions work fine.  Have I put something in the wrong spot?

I have the rowcommand and the datasource_inserting on the code page as below.

protected void Oems_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
    // Insert data if the CommandName == "Insert"
    // and the validation controls indicate valid data...
    if (e.CommandName == "Insert" && Page.IsValid)
        // TODO: Insert new record...

protected void OemsDataSource1_Inserting
(object sender, ObjectDataSourceMethodEventArgs e)
    // Programmatically reference Web controls in the inserting interface...
    TextBox txtOem = (TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("txtOem");
    TextBox txtOemStreet = (TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("txtOemStreet");
    TextBox txtOemCity = (TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("txtOemCity");

Bitmap FromFile space "file not found"

I am using aspose.slides to create PPTx's. Some of the process involves loading jpg's from another server and including them in the presentation. This works fine in my development environment. When I upload the site to its server, the jpg loading fails.

I am trying to access jpg's on the other server by:

   oFS = New FileStream(sFile, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)

This causes an access violation error when run from the server.

I also boiled the code down to reading the file directly:

   oImg = System.Drawing.Bitmap.FromFile(sFilePath)

This causes a file not found error.

We have narrowed the problem down to the fact that the File Path has a space in it. How does one solve this problem (while still keeping the space, there is a lot of legacy data)? I have tried replacing the space with %20 or +. I have tried using Server.UrlEncode. The error message always comes back with the encoding in place (like no decoding
