Filtering duplicate records - spelling mistakes, order of wordings in phrase

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi friends,

I have a table with thousands of records which I get from a flat source file.
I need to filter this data and remove duplicate records. I read about SSIS fuzzy logic and grouping and  all that.
But I need a simpler way as I have only one table without any relation or highly complex structure.

for e.g. two records with city name 'Bunnell' and 'Bunnel' or 'Fernandia beach' and 'Fernandia bch' should be considered as same.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated very much.

Fuzzy lookup problem...same/duplicate records in the buffer,

Hi there,

I have a problem with a fuzzy lookup and I've been checking all the forums and not only that I can't find the answer but I can't even find other people having this issue although it seems to me that this would happen quite often to people using fuzzy lookup or even the regular lookup component. Here's the problem:

Lets say I have 10,000 records in the source database and I have 500 records (not really important) in the reference table that I'm using for the fuzzy lookup. Lets also say that the buffer size is 1000 records. Here's what happens, the first buffer will check if any of the first 1000 records (out of 10,000) is the same (or similar) to any of the records in the reference table and then based on the similarity value that I've set up (say .80) it'll either take a route "Existing" (if the same or is similar record exists in the reference table) or take the route "NonExisting" (if the incoming records is different than any of the existing records in the reference table or if the similarity value is below .80). The idea here is that if the records goes to "Existing" this record (which is a person btw) will be assigned the same PersonId as the same/similar person found in the reference table. If on the other hand record (person) ends up going to "NonExisting" it'll be assigne

Need help getting rid of Duplicate Records

Hello;

I’m pulling data out of a MySQL Database (Bugzilla data) to be later merged with data that lives in a SQL Server data Mart. The problem I’m having is in the way Bugzilla handles State transitions. It timestamps everything and adds it into an activity table so you get a record of everything that happened to the Problem Report – That kind of makes sense for audit purposes.

The problem I’m having is that I only want to get the last updated value and not the previous ones or else my Pivot Transform will fail with a duplicate entry error.

Does anyone know how I can select only one of the many entries - Either a Transform or changes to my query? Below is an example of my data, the Bolded Underlined rows are the ones I want to keep, the others are to be discarded.

Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Duplicate Records Query

Hi All,

I have the following table:

Table A:

OrderNumber     EventDescription

1                       New Order

1                       On Hold

2                       New Order

There are other fields I need to bring back as well. Now I need to create a query that if a jobnumber has more than record in table to not return those records. How would I accomplish this?

Thanks In Advance,

-J

GridView Filtering In ASP.NET

In this tutorial you will learn how to add a filter to a Grid View Control, To modify the query with a parameterized filter, the WHERE Clause, Parameter properties, Parameter Value Editor and To test filtering.

Sorting ORDER BY - WORD

Is it possible with SQL sorted in descending order according to the word?
In Table I shrajeno Mastercard, Visa, Diners etc ...

All Visa are the first in the order, another Mastercard, etc. ...

Something does not work: ORDER BY PaymentType = 'Visa';

I would not want to work in one field PaymentId (111,222,33, etc. ..) and then use the ORDER BY.

Is this possible in such a way?

Linq qry with order by basic questions

I have never tried a group by with linq, now I do and I'm stuck.

I try to convert this sql statement to its linq counterpart :

SELECT COUNT(tb_Mailer_Smses.Id) AS [cnt], tb_Mailer_mailing.Id As [Id]
,SUM( CASE WHEN tb_Mailer_smses.DLRStatus = 200 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) As [Delivered]
,SUM(CASE WHEN DLRStatus BETWEEN 300 AND 499 THEN 1 WHEN DLRStatus BETWEEN 800 AND 899 THEN 1 END) AS [Errors]
FROM tb_Mailer_mailing INNER JOIN
tb_Mailer_Smses ON tb_Mailer_mailing.Id = tb_Mailer_Smses.MailingId
WHERE tb_Mailer_mailing.ApplicationId = 1
GROUP BY tb_Mailer_mailing.Id

Is there some one who can me show me the convertion process ?
