I've been trying to get .net 4 to install on my computer for several days. I really need it in order to install a program that is used to hook my mobile phone up to my computer. I've tried a bunch of different things some of which I found on this site.
I've installed the standalone player from the web and via windows update (which keeps bugging me to install). I just tried the cleanup tool and that didn't work. I talked to the HP tech support and they had a bunch of ideas that were useless
in helping me like turning off the firewall, restarting the .net services, changing user permissions, restarting windows update services, and renaming the software distribution folder. Anyway, I still can't get it to work thought the standalone
web installer or Windows update. I also have turned off all anti-virus software that would stop this.
The standalone install just says Fatal error and the Windows update comes up with some error codes.
