If your environment looked like the following how would you set up your developers with VS2010?
Our SharePoint development server farm has two VMWare VMs with a separate SQL server on SQL 2008 R2. We've currently got 6GB of RAM and a total of 40 GB of disk space on the WFE. We will be utilizing RBS on the SQL server as well - data will go out to SAN storage.
We have requirements for building dashboard solutions using BCS and tying into other SQL or Oracle-based applications, creating complex workflows and maintaining consistency across the farm. We are moving to Windows 7 for all of our users - some of our developers
have migrated and some have not. There is an existing unwaiverable policy that no desktop can have IIS enabled. We've got source code configuration control software available. None of our developers currently have MSDN licenses - they have stand-alone VS licenses.
Given all that, how would you set things up to give the developers the assets they need to do the development working within policy constraints and keeping the cost manageable?
