SharePoint 2010 - missing server side dependencies and missing web parts

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I did a clean SP 2010 install recently on a new server farm.  I got a health analyzer warning about missing server side dependencies - a lot of them - and missing web parts ... then I installed the August cumulative upgrade and got a clean configuration but an erro log with, again, a list of theoretically missing web parts.  I don't see any issue with features or functions but-- even after reading the posts- am unable to figure out (1) whether this is important or (2) how to fix it -- please note that my test server shows none of these issues - the only difference between test and prod is that test is completely vanilla and production uses a named instance of SQL Server ... Thanks so much for any advise ... Pete

Missing server side dependencies.

I have installed MOSS2010 Beta 2; I'm running server 2008 x64 SP2.... not R2; I'm running it on a Hyper-V VM with 4 cores and 6gb of RAM allocated to it.After installing, I get the following error. (Actually i got 4 or 5 but I was able to resolve all but this one.)Missing server side dependencies. I went to Central Administration > Farm-Wide Search Administrationwhich is: SearchFarmDashboard.aspx as mentioned by CJGthen I opened Search Service Application which is SearchAdministration.aspx as mentioned by CJGAfter going through these pages, I go back, ReAnalyze the problem, and reopen the Sharepoint Health Analyzer.Same error, but now the Explanation is blank. Thoughts?

Missing Server Side Dependencies - [MissingSetupFile]

I am using the database attach method to migrate a SharePoint 2007 environment to SharePoint 2010.   After the migration I am seeing in the health report several errors related to [MissingSetupFile] in the Missing Server Side Dependencies section. The files that are being referenced is for an old feature that was removed over a year ago from the SharePoint 2007 environment.  It appears that the uninstallation of the feature still left some hooks in the content database. One of the errors is: File [Features\MossTraining\Styles\alldaydefault_stk.gif] is referenced [1] times in the database [WSS_Content_MyOakGov], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this file. One or more setup files are referenced in the database As you can see it is from the MossTraining feature that was available on CodePlex.  This was installed and then ultimately uninstalled from the SP2007 environment a long time ago.   Now it has come back to haunt me.    How can I resolve this issue without having to reinstall and then attempt to uninstall the feature again?

Missing server side dependencies - MissingSetupFile

I have a fairly fresh install of SharePoint Foundation on a Win 7 box. Very recently when I go into the Central Administration I get a red message saying the SharePoint Health Analyer has detected some critical issues. When I click on it I get a list under configuration the first being Missing server side dependencies. When I click on it I get this error dialog http://screencast.com/t/ZDRkODFjNW [MissingSetupFile] File [Features\SPDev1_Feature1\VisualWebPart1\VisualWebPart1.webpart] is referenced [1] times in the database [WSS_Content], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this file. One or more setup files are referenced in the database [WSS_Content], but are not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature or solution which contains these files. The link just redirects to a general SharePoint page. I have checked the logs in 14\LOGS and not found anything. Where do I start to fix this?

Service Applications missing from SharePoint Server 2010 Installation

Hi Guys,

I recently completed an in-place upgrade from WSS 3.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010 to SharePoint Server 2010. While the first half of this migration process seems to have worked from WSS 3.0 to Foundation 2010 the upgrade from Foundation 2010 to Server 2010 has left the installation with only the Foundation level service applications.

If I go to add a new service application the only ones listed are the foundation service applications but if I go to check the current license it confirms the enterprise server edition is installed. I have re-ran the product configuration wizard and if I check the patch status in central administration it confirms that all the enterprise components are installed they just aren't showing up in the service applications listing!

Any ideas on how I can add these missing services to central administration?

Cheers.

Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010

If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.

Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with Server-Side APIs

Accessing SharePoint data in server-side solutions is one of the most common tasks that you will perform as a SharePoint developer. SharePoint 2010 provides powerful server-side APIs that enable you to retrieve, add, edit, and delete SharePoint data programmatically. SharePoint 2010 also includes the new LINQ to SharePoint technology that enables you to work with SharePoint data efficiently and easily.

Office Services: Merging Word Documents on the Server Side with SharePoint 2010

Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 include a new set of components called Application Services. These put a rich set of tools in a developer's bag for Office automation. We'll show you how to use Office OpenXML, Word Automation Services and SharePoint to build a simple application that merges separate status reports into a single document.

Search Service Application missing in SharePoint 2010

I installed SharePoint 2010 (Enterprise edition), enabled Enterprise features but it is missing Search Service Application when I look under Central Administration > Application Management > Manage Service Application.   When I click on New it doesn't even list "Search Service Application".    When I goto Upgrade and Patch Management > Check Product and Patch Installation Status, it tells me that "Microsoft Search Server 2010 Core" was Installed.  Under Manage services of server, "Sharepoint Foundation Search" is started.  Does anyone have an idea why the "Search Service Application" is missing and how can I install it?

Sharepoint 2010 Missing Content Types

Has anyone run into an issue where your system's base content types dissappear after deploying a new site definition.  We are doing a proof of concept using several CMS solutions and decided to see how sharepoint would fare in the process.  I worked on the POC for 6 weeks without any issues.  After selecting sharepoint as the solution I started refactoring my code into a more logical structure as many of the components were developed from sample code.  I created a couple of custom site definitions that were pretty simple.  Basically I copied the onenet.xml from the publishing site template that sharepoint uses and made a few simple modifications like associating my custom master page and a custom content type with the default page.  When I initially developed these I had no issues at all but yesterday I suddenly was not able to create sites using these site defs.  I figured there was some kind of conflict with my old templates so I deleted all site collections on the server and then tried to create a new site collection and then I couldn't even create a base publishing site.  I got an error indicating the base content type did not exist.  After spending hours going through logs it was clear that sharepoint was not able to build the content type hiearchy when creating new sites so I took a look at the UI and there were only abo

SharePoint 2010 External Content Type and InfoPath 2010 - Numeric data type fields missing in InfoPa

Connected SQL data table to SP 2010 ECT from SQL table.  The SQL table has several fields that have a type of "numeric(3,0)".  The SP 2010 list shows all fields form SQL.  When we open up InfoPath Designer and reference the SP List data (from SQL) all of our numer fields are missing from the available fields list.

I amd going to try another data type but that hardly feels like a solution.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Sharepoint 2010 Missing Managed Metadata Service

According to the following MS article, the Tags feature is linked to the Managed Metadata Service, which is required to use Tags. For some reason I cannot find this feature as described in the article where it specified Managed Metadata Service is located in the Application Management section. What should I check to make sure this feature/service can be enabled?

Sharepoint 2010 AD Sync - missing picture from AD to pictureURL

Hi all:

I have followed Jie Lie (Technical sharepoint Product Manger) steps in entirety (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/opal/archive/2009/11/19/user-profile-sync-setup-in-sharepoint-server-2010-beta.aspx), my sync with AD is working fine except it is not pulling the pictures in the AD.

Here is my issue, we have photos of all employees stored as domain.xyz.jpg in the custom attribute (emp_pics_2001) with type string, but the picture url type is url (is this the culprit type change), I am using the custom attribute to map the field in the Sharepoint 2010 miis client.

I am using the below url to do the set up: http://goodbadtechnology.blogspot.com/2010/05/setting-up-pictureurl-user-profile.html

i did check the profile db picture url field is NULL, i have all the other values for person except the picture.., I have already wasted more than 2 days in figuring this out

If i just get domain.xyz.jpg pulled to sharepoint, then i can prefix a url in front of it using powershell
I am using a full trusted service account with full permissions to the domain

please help me out..

thank you

Neel
