Passing in the variables for 'Between'

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I'm using SQL 2008 and VS 2010.

I have a sproc that ends with:

WHERE RowNumber Between 1 and 1;

(I only have two records in it right now)

What does everyone use to pass in the variables from a webpage, without any datacontrol, in place of the 1's?

I've used cookies and session variables, but is there a better way during postbacks to fill the gridview?

Passing checkboxlist variables and returning one row at a time

I am designing a page for my students to practice their Latin vocabulary.  I am having two problems with the design: 1) working with checkboxes, and 2) display one returned row at a time. 1) First, students select from CheckListBox1 those parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.) they want to review, and then they click Button1 ("Submit"), which fires off a SELECT statement against a table named CoreVocab in a SQLEXPRESS database.  How do I pass each selected part of speech from CheckListBox1 as a variable into the WHERE statement when the user clicks Button1? Do I place this code in the Button1_Click on the .cs page? 2)  Ideally, the table returns the first row and Button1 changes to "Next," which the student then clicks to see the next Latin word.  How do I get the Repeater table to show only one row at time until the Next button is clicked? And how do I get the same button to executed two functions (fire off the SELECT statement and then show the next row)?  For what it's worth, I'm using the SqlDataReader command, since data will only be retrieved, not modified. Thanks. I'm new at this.  But I really need to do something for my suffering students. Oliphant

Data Paging and passing variables to text box

Please help I am having troubles making the code run. I have a web page with a gridview and a checkbox. I would like the button when selected to pass the category id. I have managed to get it work without paging. Once the paging kicks in see below, I am unable to run the code. Please see below.

In the design: ASPX

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="_Default" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">
    <form id="form1" runat="server">
    <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False"

Error when passing variables

where end_tran_date = '+ @Today +'
order by end_tran_date asc'
print (@sql)

Error Messsage:

Temporary tables in SQL Server vs. table variables

When writing T-SQL code, you often need a table in which to store data temporarily when it comes time to execute that code. You have four table options: normal tables, local temporary tables, global temporary tables and table variables. I'll discuss the differences between using temporary tables in SQL Server versus table variables.

Passing Linq Statement between master and content page

I usually work with windows forms, and am just starting to work with ASP.Net, so appologies if this is a dumb question!

I have a master page which has a search button on it. The results of this are built up using a Linq statement and if there are any results, I want to display the results in a contents page.

On the masterpage, I have the following code:

Private _res

    Public Overridable ReadOnly Property SearchRes()
            Return _res
        End Get
    End Property

 Private Sub DoSearch()
   'some code to get a linq result

    If res.Any Then
            _res = res
            Server.Transfer("SearchResults.aspx", True)
            'no results
            LabelNoRes.Visible = True
        End If
 End Sub

On the SearchResults.aspx page I have this code.

Dim m As pxSite = CType(Page.Master, MasterPage)
        If m.SearchRes IsNot Nothing Then
            Label1.Text = "Results found = " & m.SearchRes.Count
        End If

m.searchRes is always nothing.

What am I doing wrong here?

Session and Application Variables

Passing Data to a Cell in Excel

I have a webpage that is created in Visual Studio 2008 and programmed in C#.

I have a web form that prompts the user to enter a value into a text box.  For now, I do not have any validation on that field (I will be adding that later).

I need to pass the value that the user has entered to cell C1 of the excel spreadsheet (user_info.xls).

I understand that using excel is not ideal, but unforutnately need to try to make this work with the excel spreadsheet.

I do not have any code for this yet, because I honestly do not know how to begin.

The action of poulating the excel spreadsheet will be intialized from the On Click event of a Submit button.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance,

Passing HTML values from asp.net to asp

 We have a part of our website which is coded in classic asp. This takes the values of a login page (asp.net)  which uses

<input type="text" /> to hold the values and then submit them to the asp page using the following line of code -

<input type="submit" value="Login" onClick="this.form.action='<%= SubmitURL() %>/login/login_user.asp?Type=Login&amp;this.form.encoding='application/x-www-form-urlencoded'; this.form.submit();" />

The asp page then retrieves the values using the code -

Value1 = Request.Form("Val1")

We now have a requirement to pre-populate the login values to provide an automated login process but don't want to change the older asp code. When we try to assign values to the input text in the asp.net page by assigning the value runat="server" the login fails as it does not seem to carry over when the page is submitted.

Is there a way where we can pre-populate the html textbox without making it unavailable to the asp page?
