Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.5.1.0,...

We have an application that runs on both Windows Mobile and Desktop, both which are now using SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 as the database.  Everything is working great on the WM side in debug and runtime, but on the desktop side we are getting the following error.

"Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.5.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3be235df1c8d2ad3, Retargetable=Yes' or one of its dependencies.  The given assembly name or codebase was invalid.  (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131047)"

I do not get this error when I run in debug mode for the desktop app, but if we install the application to a Vista (32bit) or Windows Server 2003 (32bit) machine we get the error.  The only thing I can point at that is different between all the different machines we have tried this on is that it always works if Visual Studio is installed on the machine.

Our current deployment method is to mark the System.Data.SqlServerCe (3.5.1.0) reference to Copy Local=False and then we package the SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 installer with our installation program.  I have verified that the dll's are in the GAC with the correct version, but the application cannot find an assembly.  I have also tried copying all the sqlce*.dll files (a

Hi I have a clickonce deployed application in my machine. When I tried to load the application, 90% of the application window is getting loaded but finally, I get the following error: Could not load file or assembly '0 bytes loaded from System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. I have read somewhere that this error could be caused when something goes wrong with the .net framework in the machine. My machine is having .Net framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. So which framework should I reinstall? The application is developed using .net 2.0. Also, please let me know how the application is partially loading(90%) if the framework is corrupted.? Regards Anoop.

i convert website to the vs 2010  but with the same target Framework 2.0.

when i build the website using vs 2010 and publish it to the production server which running only framework 2.

i get these error

"Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)".

when i back to vs2008 and build it again and publish to the production server it is working great.

Thanks

 I created a website with AJAX using VS2005, installed the framework in the production server and the website is working fine.

 then I installed VS2008 + Service pack in my computer without uninstalling VS2005, then converted my project to VS2008, with no issues.

then I installed Framework3.5 in the production server without uninstalling Framework2.0. Tested the website and it's good except when I try to run a Crystal report it gave me this error :

Deployment error system.data.sqlserverce version 3.5.1.0 glabal assembly cache

I have upgraded my development environment from Visual C# 2008 Express on Windows XP to Visual C# 2010 Express running on Windows 7 that uses SQLCE SP2.  I use a private deployment of the SQLCE 32-bit and 64-bit libaries and for the past year has wworked fine deploying to all systems.  Since upgrading I have been unable to produce a successful deployment.  I get an error almost immediately when my program attempts to update

system.data.sqlserverce version 3.5.1.0 glabal assembly cache

I have been attempting to do the deployment on a Windows 7 64 bit machine.  Does anybody have any ideas what I can do to eliminate this issue.  I have ensure that my build is targeting .NET 3.5

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterpriseServices

Hi, I am getting the following error with a WPF/C# application on one of the machines that we run the application on. The application works fine on other machines. I compared the "System.EnterpriseServices.dll" file on the machine that throws the error with the dll file on the machine that works fine. I did not any differences. We are using .NET 4 (client profile) framework on XP/x86. Can someone please provide some clue as to why the error is thrown on one of the machines? All,
I have a web project that references a strong-name DLL which contains a HttpModule, it is called vcWebCore.dll.

The DLL is registered in GAC using the gacutil.exe and everything looks fine.
I can see the DLL in my c:\windows\assembly directory with the correct
version (1.0.0.0) and public key token.

However, at runtime I kept getting the error that the vcWenCore module could not be located:

    System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Sharepoint.Search

    I've done a fair amount of digging on this and have found this post that suggests that its caused by the .dll being marked for AMD and not for ia64.  This error occurred after I linked the new cluster to the existing sharepoint farm prior to migration.  Then started moving project files over and rebuilding for the upcoming new server name.  I've tried copying the .dll from the regular 12 hive into the GAC but it won't make a change to the processor architecture.

    Do I need to re-run the configuration wizard or something?  Anyone have an easy fix?  Thanks.

System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly ...

Hi,

I have developed a Windows Forms application using .Net Remoting and am installing it as a ClickOnce application hosted in IIS on a Windows 2008 R2 VPS 64bits Server which belongs to one of my customers.

My remote object is contained in a 32-bits DLL called LC.AplRemoting.dll

When I try to run the application, I get the following error:

System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'LC.AplRemoting, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
File name: 'LC.AplRemoting, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'

and if I look at the error details I see the following (extracted from the error details:

Hi,

This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.

I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:

        protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
        {
            e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);
        }

Then I get this error:
The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

On web.config I already have this:
<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.

is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?

Thanks.
