ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error

We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports. It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2.  As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine.  However, that is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection. Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.

How do you add duplicate fields to a SSRS custom report and receive differtent output values.

I have built a custom report in SSRS 2008 using fields for supplier and customer.   I have added a Parent Row Group using the Supplier field for the group expression and used the Customer Details as my child details group. This returns a list of all customers for each supplier.   (Supplier | = Customer details ( Name, Dob etc.)   How would I add an additional Supplier field to the customer details returning only values for other Suppliers used by a customer, not the value of the Supplier listed in the Parent Group?

SSRS Report Parameter Auto selection

HI All    I have a report paramater 'ParamBranches' which list all branches say aa,bb,cc etc ... and another report parameter is 'ParamBranchStartswith' So when i type in 'a' in Branh Starts with paramter -  the 2nd parameter that is ParamBranches will be filled with "select ",  "aa"   As there is only one Branch starts with 'a' ,  Is there any way to autoselect the Branch 'aa'  in Branches list , rather than user manually selects 'aa'       Regards Sooraj

SSRS Report based on SSAS Cubes doesn't show NULL values correctly

I have a SSRS report which is based on an SSAS Cube. In the Cube the formating of numeric fields that NULL values are properly shown as NULL values. In the Cube Browser and Excel this is shown correctly. However when I design the report already the query against SSAS shows these fields as "0" instead of NULL. Is there a way to fix this or is this a bug ?

SSRS problem with passing multiple parameter values via URL %2c

Hi, I have a problem with passing multiple parameter values from one report (A) to another report (B).   For example I built a URL string in report (A) with the parameters like &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2. As soon as I click on that URL the URL parameters look like &Parameter1=1%2c2 and the parameters don’t getting populated on report (B).   If I change the parameter in the URL to &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2 and execute the URL manual the parameter on report (B) getting populated properly.   Is there a way to disable the coding like %2c (comma) or is there another solution for it?   Thanks

Report Parameter Values - Can I use getdate() or now() or any other function?

Hi all,      I have a report that utilizes a calendar function but I need to make it a subscription report. Is it possible to use getdate() or now() on the Report Parameter Values? I have a text box that says Enter a Date and that is where I want to have the default value to be run with the subscription. Please let  me know if possible. Thank you.

Report parameter values must be specified before the report can be displayed. Choose parameter value

Helllo...I am getting error "Report parameter values must be specified before the report can be displayed. Choose parameter values in the parameters area and click the Apply button." when I deploy the report in the SharePoint. The report works fine in the when I run in BIDS. we have two parameter in this report...Parameter #1 is tied filterd based on the user who is accessing the report and Parameter #2 is dependent on the value selected in Parameter #1.

Please let me know what I am doing wrong here? Is there any workaround to get past this message?

Thanks for help.

How to get distinct values of sharepoint column using SSRS: paramter Greyed out

I'm referring to a previous thread: How to get distinct values of SharePoint column using SSRS.  I followed all the steps as set out but when I view my report, the parameter is greyed out.  I then downloaded the example report of Jin Chen.  In that report, he suggests a blank parameter label for the main parameter, as well as, a default value for the hidden parameter (which is different from the initial thread posted).  When I change my report accordingly, I get an error: An error occurred during local report processing. MainParameter.  Anyone with suggestions?

Rdl Report's Parameter DataSet Using SSRS

Hi,

I have to design a Page Similar to Report Server's Viewer Page where if any Parameter is multivalued and if any Stored Procedure/Query Name is specified in the Report, then a it is internally executed and checkbox dropdown list is displayed to select the values.

Similar to that I have to design an aspx page with the similar behaviour. How to get Stored Procedure Name(if Specified/Query) of any Parameter of a report? So that I can bind my Checkbox list on the aspx page.

Please Help!

sql profiler doesn't show mdx report parameter values

Hi All,

Is there any way that I can afterwards see the members selected as parametervalues in an SSRS report.

Maybe I'm missing something, but to me its looks as if SQL Profiler is capturing the mdx dataset queries exactly as specified in the report definition, but SQL Profiler does not show the parameter values selected by the end-user.

For analysis puposes I need to figure out what parameter values have been selected by my end-users on report-execution.

Any suggestions/workaround for this ?

Kind regards,

Cees

SSRS 2008 - Report Parameter is read only

I have a main report that has two parameters (RptMonth, Reports).  RptMonth which the user selects from a calendar, and Reports which is a dropdown list. Produces main report correctly.

I want to goto a second report (Detail) based on clicking a textbox named KPI. I configured the textbox to Go To Report, added this parameter named ID value [ID] that is in the dataset of the query. Parameter settings - Name=ID, datatype=Integer, parameter visibility=hidden.

Get values from query=Dataset1, value field=ID, label field=KPI. Using always refresh. This is all configured in the main report. In the detail report I have one parameter named ID,  type Integer, visibility=hidden.

Security for both reports use embedded connection, type SQL server. When I run the main report and click on the KPI textbox it passes the ID and I get the correct detail report. When I deploy it to the server I get

SSRS 2005 Matrix results affected by defaulting being set on report parameter?

We discovered some very odd matrix behavior a couple days ago and just today found out what in the RDL seems to be causing the issue.  The issue is that certain cells in the matrix will not be populated if a certain report parameter is defaulted.

The basics:  A matrix report with 6 report parms two of which are passed to the underlying procedure call.  There are 6 datasets behind the report.  4 are related to getting date and timespan information to allow for parameter defaulting.  1 gets a list of customers to populate a selection drop down and the last gets the data.

The data query takes a customer name and an end date.   Via the report parameters the end date parm is defaulted based on a dataset which is chained through the other parms and associated datasets.

The matrix is used to show a months worth of activity by day.  There are two int32 data points in each matrix cell one is a total and one is a failure count.  The data as returned by the reporting proc is already summarized so no aggregate is needed in the matrix.  However, using SUM or not in the matrix cell makes no difference to the strange outcome.

When the report is run with the end date parameter being defaulted one of the rows will incorrectly show 16 cells.  The cells appear as if there is no data.  However, if the proc

Default Parameter Values not Updated when Report Updated

This is either a bug or really wierd behavior by design that needs to be rethought in the near future.

I'm an enterprise developer on a commercial product that integrates and leverages reporting services.  We install a sizable number of reports automaticly as part of our production isntallation or upgrade.  I have a recent QA bug on that process that I find mystifying.

We install reports through calls to the CreateReport web service and its worked pretty well.  Recently, I had a report with a parameter whose definition changed.  Specifically, the default value of the parameter changed from 'All' to 'Select' and corresponding changes were made to the valid values list of the parameter.  When the report is installed, it works just fine.  But when the report is created as part of an upgrade to an existing system, the report for the most part gets all the expected changes but the new default value is not picked up.   Instead, it seems to stay hung on 'All', with the result that the parameter remains in a state of having unresolved dependencies ('All' no longer appears as a valid value) and as a result, breaks our interface (which was designed for single rather than multistep entry of parameters).

I know that some properties are not reset when calling CreateReport. &n
