Issue with SSRS multi-parameter control

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi Folks,

I am having the attached error with a multi-parameter filter control. This is happening only when there is just 1 value in the list.

Has anyone come across this issue and is there a solution to this? I am using SSRS 2005.

Sorry was trying to attached a snap-shot here but don't know if thats possible.

I'll try yo put the issue in words. The list box does not show the item in it. It does not render fully.

Issue with multi valued parameters in SSRS using Oracle data source

Hi All,

I have a dataset which is getting data from oracle datasource and my Dataset query expression is

="select To_Char(Time_Stamp,'Month') as Month, Node_Name as Device,Connection,MSNAME,Monitor,Avg as Average,Max as Maximum FROM OracleDataVW where ((monitor='X' and msname in ('Y')) or (MONITOR = 'CPU Utilization' AND MSNAME = 'utilization')) and TO_Char(Time_Stamp,'Mon YYYY') in  ('"+ Join(Parameters!Parameter1.Value,",") +"')"

My parameter is multiValued parameter. The above query is working good if i select one value, however if select more than one value or all it is not giving me the data. I tried to put Ltrim and Rtrim in Join but it is giving me another syntax error.

Please help me with this

SSRS Multi value Parameter

I Have a Report Parameter (single Value)@Path. The Available Values for @Path are from a Dataset.

The Values are like this. \a1\b1 , \a1\b1\c1, \a1\b2, \a1\b2\c1. Now if i select the value \a1\b1 , i will get  all of the values for under the  path \a1\b1. ie., it selects '\a1\b1%'. The Main dataset of the report has the query like this. Select Col1,Col2 WHERE path = '@Path+'%' It works fine until now.

Now I want to make this Parameter to select multiple values. So I changed the Properties of the Parameter and the SQL like        Select Col1,Col2 Where path IN (@Path). This works fine as i can select  multiple values \a1\b1 and \a1\b2 and also i can get the result correctly covering these two paths. But the problem is , i want to cover the total sub paths also. So if i select \a1\b1 and \a1\b2 i should get the result covering \a1\b1\c1 and \a1\b2\c1 also.

Please help!!

SSRS 2008 w/CU6 - Parameter Default Value Refresh Issue.

We are experiencing trouble with a parameter default value (parameter 2) not refreshing when it's parents parameter value is updated (parameter 1).  The problem parameter (2) has specified values in the available values, and has a dataset that loads the default values depending a parameter above it.

The first time that parameter 1 is selected, parameter 2 is updated with the correct default value... BUT, when parameter 1 is changed, parameter 2 does not update.

If I change the problem parameter's (2) available values to the dataset where the default values come from, it works fine, but that doesn't fill the business requirement of this report.  I also tried setting parameter 2 properties to "always refresh" but that doesn't appear to refresh the default values.

What else can I try?

SSRS R2 parameter issue

So we are beginning to experiment with SSRS R2 and I've encountered one issue thus far with reports.  If we export (or print) a child report, then navigate back to the parent report (which contains parameters), the parameters are no longer filled in with the initial selections.  Thus, the user needs to enter all parameter selections again.  I suppose this is considered a "feature", haha.

Any thoughts out there?  Does anybody know if this behavior is a known bug?

asp expression bound to user control parameter?

How can I get pass the DataKey of a GridView to a usercontol, preferably without code behind.

Why doesn't this work:

<ucOrderDetails:AJAX_OrderDetail ID="od1" runat="server" OrderNumber='<%# GridView1.SelectedValue.ToString() %>'  />

GridView1 is just a list of orders with a DataKey of OrderNumber.

od1 is not inside of a databout control, does it need to be?

Can't Find DropDownList In Control Parameter

I have a page with 2 Content Controls. Content1 has a SqlDataSource with a Control Parameter
that uses a Dropdown list. The dropdownlist is in Content2. I used viewsource to get
the dropdownlist control name which was
ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder6_ddlPersonFilter. I also got an error if I used ddlPersonFilter.
Thanks for any assistance.

Could not find control 'ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder6_ddlPersonFilter' in ControlParameter ''.

Menu control rendering issue with IE8

Using VS2010, I created an ASP.NET 4.0 web application and simply added a couple of menu items below the "Home" menu item in the master page that's created by the project wizard. I made no other changes - no code, no stylesheet changes.

If I run the app locally then everything is fine. I suspect because the local IIS is responsive enough for the problem not to occur.

If I deploy the app to a web host (discountasp.net) then I see the menu render vertically for less than a second before it renders correctly. If I refresh the page a few times then usually I can see the menu vertical flash but sometimes I can't, so there's some sort of timing consideration.

I'm using IE8. The problem doesn't seem to occur with either Firefox 3 or Chrome.

Have others seen this problem?

Any suggestions for a fix?

I can supply the zipped up project if anyone wants it.

Issue with Remember Me on User Login control

Hi everyone,

I hope you can help me, I tried Google, but none of the solutions worked. Using VB.net and Membership, I have a login control in my master page with a remember me check box. When I check this box and login, some pages indicate that I am not logged in. If I go to another page, it will then indicate that I am still logged in. I have isolated one page that always indicates I am not logged in the first time I visit it, but if log in a second time and then go to it, it will finally recognize me as a user that is properly logged in.

Some pages that this occurs on is in the top level, some pages are in a sub folder.

My MasterPage has the following Form Code:

<body bgcolor="#E0ECF9" topmargin="0" leftmargin="0">

    <form id="form1" runat="server">

My Aspx file has a troubleshooting label, several Gridviews and several DetailViews:

output cache to be used only when parameter has changed + old question of user control not answered

i have 2 questions about output cache:

1.is it just me , or does it seems that it is used only after the second time that the user reaches the webpage? if so, why, and how can i tweak it to my needs? my guess is that it wouldn't be logical to cache every time a user reach a webpage, but only when it happens enough times.

2.i know that i can use "varybyparam" for using the output cache when the parameter doesn't change , but it seems that it would use the output cache even if there is no parameter , or if the specified paramter is not there. is there a way to overcome this?

3.an old question that somehow marked as "answered" , yet i didn't solve : suppose i created a user control and i gave it values through the CTOR via the aspx file . is it possible to show the values from within the split/design mode? remember that i've talking about ASP.NET and not simply C# winforms . i write this because this question was on :

and the answer that i got was for C# and winforms . i've tried to do the same for ASP.NET , but i've failed.

can anyone please help me?

Data validation for datetime parameter in SSRS

Hi,   I wanted to know more about validation of SSRS parameters. I have a simple report which has a parameter called startdate of DateTime datatype. The datetime parameter in SSRS takes manual input as well. So, the user can enter any junk value. I want to ensure that the input parameter is in correct format and I want to display an error msg when the format is incorrect. My report has the following VB code for validation:   Public Function Validate( ByVal startdate As String) As BooleanIf IsDate(startdate) = True Then Return TrueElse Return FalseEnd IfEnd Function   And my report has a textbox which has the expression property set to; =Code.Validate(Parameters!startdate.Value) the textbox on the report has to display if the entered date is valid or not.   But, when i enter an erroneous date, SSRS doesn't render the report and throws a generic error. This happens even before the code written for validating the parameter executes.   Also couldn't find a way to disable the manual input for the datetime parameter. Even that would solve the problem.   Another alternative was to make the startdate parameter as string, but i want the calendar control button to be provided for the user.

ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error

We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports. It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2.  As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine.  However, that is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection. Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.
