How to deploy a ssis

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi guys,

I am trying to deploy a ssis using the SSISDeploymentManifest file.

I just got a new computer with visual studio 2008, 2010 and as well as sql server 2008 and some tools from visual studio 2005 to replace my previous one.

Now, when I try to deploy using a SSISDeploymentManifest file by double clicking on it, the windows dialog opens up asking me what program I want to use to open the .SSISDeploymentManifest file.

Anybody knows what to associate the .SSISDeploymentManifest to?  I am quite sure it is simple but every articles I find just tell me to double click on it which does not help.

Also, my sql server is express, Therefore, I cannot use dtutil to deploy to a remote server.

I must find a way to deploy to a remote server without using remote desktop.

How to deploy and configure ssis packages using sql server table in testing server and production en

Hi We have three environments (development, testing and production ) I have to configure and deploy the ssis packages using sqlserver table in different environments(development, testing and production).   Three environments database structures  are same But database names are different like (DEVSERVER,SITSERVER,UATSERVER) We have 14 packages and one master package. If i modify one package we need to deploy all the packages or single package deployment is enough    Please help me thanks in advance

SSIS 2K5 - Deploy package with C# - Really Slow

For a DataWareHouse project, I did an WIX  install manager to Create à DataWareHouse, Deploy SSIS package and Deploy a OLAP cube.

When It come to deploy (load) dtsx package, it takes about 40-60 secondes to load each package (I have around 50 packages so its really too long)

This is the code i'm using :

	    DirectoryInfo di = new DirectoryInfo(session["INSTALLLOCATION"] + @"Sources");
        FileInfo[] rgFiles = di.GetFiles("*.dtsx");
        Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application();
        foreach (FileInfo fi in rgFiles)
          string pkg = session["INSTALLLOCATION"] + @"Sources\" + fi.Name + "";
 		 Package p = app.LoadPackage(pkg, null); //THIS TAKE 40-60 SECONDE TO EXECUTE

SSIS 2K5 - Deploy SSIS Package with C# - Error File cannot be found

I made a installer program in C# that deploy ssis package on a SQL server 2005. I have like 50 package that contain only dataflow to update a datawarehouse and create fact tables.

I made also one package that call all the other packages. When I try to deploy the packages on the SQL server with the command SaveToDtsServer, I receive an error BUT only on the package calling all the other SSIS package ?? All the other SSIS packages are deployed but the package that call other packages failed to deploy. Whats strange is that when I use the domain controler to deploy the package (I use Impersonation in my C# code) its all working fine, but if I use another user (like the computer admin account), I got the error only on the package calling other packages ???

Can anyone help me on that ? I really don't know whats happening ?

The error that i have is : The file can't be found. But like I said, when using the domain controler user for impersonation, its working ???

    imp = new Impersonation(session["DBMASTER"], session["DBMASTER_PWD"]);

Can a user with SQL express deploy a SSIS to a remote SQL server (how)

sql express does not have integration services.

dtutil does not work without integration services.  This is therefore not an option.

The deployment manifest needs dtutil to execute.  This is also not an option.

The documentation on microsoft states that a person can connect to remote integration services by editing the ini file and then connecting locally. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms137789.aspx.  Without integration service, one can not connect locally to integration services so using the transfer package of sql server is also not an option.

Also connecting remotely to an integration without editing the ini seems to require local admin rights on the target server.  This is a bit too much to ask.  (this is what I experimented let me know if you know the exact requirements)

Is there a possibility for a person with sql express, without local admin rights to the target server, to push his ssis to his sql server test instance?

How to deploy ssis Packages to production Environment

Hi All,

I have a few questions regarding ssis package deployment to production environment.

In order to deploy already developed packages ...These are the things I am following...Please confirm whether I am following the correct approach...or not.. If not please let me know the exact process..

First of all I am generating the scripts for databases...corresponding tables,views and stored procedures..

Once the scripts are ready... I am executing those scripts in production environment.

After that I am adding all of my developed packages to production environment BIDS Platform. Then I am running these packages in production environment (All connection strings are updated in the configuration file)...by changing the Configuration file..

Then I am scheduling all of these packages through SQL SERVER JOB AGENT.....

Is this the right approach ...? Please let me know ASAP...

Using Conditional Split data Transfer in SSIS 2008

This article uses the Integration Services Conditional Split Data Transformation element to filter and transfer data from a set of flat text files to SQL Server database table. The concept can be easily extended to apply to any other source or destination such as Microsoft Excel. This scenario is useful in creating denormalized database tables in a reporting and analysis situation.

SMTP not working if I use web deployment package to deploy my app.

Hi all

I use msdeploy to install my web app. deployment package. everything about web app works, but find out email was not working.

I checked telnet smtp is running.

I debug the project, and it was sending out email too.

So my solution was upload the whole project (not complied) to wwwroot, and email works too. Thats why I assume the deployment cause the problem.

at last, I also tried to copy the web deployment web.config to replace the project's web.config, and the email also work, so it wasn't the web.config problem.

Could anyone tell me whats going on?

Migrate DB + files outside DB into SharePoint using SSIS and scripts

Hello, just wanted to ask a question about SSIS and SharePoint, any input will be greatly appreciated.... did search the forum but could not find anything....

So basically we have a SQL Server DB with the metadata ONLY, WITHOUT the related files(doc/ppt/pdf..etc) which should've been in the DB and they are on a separate web server inside folders. Each row in the DB has a key (column) which matches the related folder's name, so for row with ID #112, there's a folder named ID112 on the web server with the relevant files inside. There could be more than 8+ files for one folder.

Now, I think it is possible but just wanted to double check, would it be possible to use SSIS and some kind of a script to get the metadata inside the SQL DB AND the related files inside those folders, combine & relate them and upload them into SharePoint as a custom list with file attachments? would they display the attachment normally (like the paperclip icon in a sharepoint list...etc) I wonder if anyone has tried this...

Any guidance, thoughts, suggestions for other solutions, inputs will be great!!! Thank you!!

VseWss is really the right tool to deploy with yet ?

I think VseWss has long way to go it is not ready to be used because it should first follow the architecture of SharePoint to be good deployment too for example :

you can create list definition using the template provided for that list definition you can create list instance in SharePoint when you create list this later reference its list template using feature ID the problem is that vsewss change the feature ID all the time what happens is that when you uninstall solution and deploy the wsp if you had list this later will complain that it could not found the list template feature actually this list is referring  to the old feature ID the same feature had been deployed with new feature ID.

Another drawback that I think is in the fixing phase is the impossibility of using feature properties such as ActivateOnDefault, scope, etc. Because the feature files is overwritten dynamically every time you deploy.

Deploy a .NET application on the ttarget machine

Hi all, I have a project, is written in C#, using .Net framework 3.5. When I build a setup installer, capacity of the setup is about 10MB. Suppose,  I put the setup files in a web , and users download it to install in their PC. But i think, Users must be download .NET framework to run my project. In this case, users ought to download a .rar file , which have more 200MB over the internet. It is very heavy :( So, I want to find out the best solution to deploy .NEt application to the client 's PC. Anybody help me,please ? Thanks so much!
