BIDS Error loading 'Package.dtsx' in 2008

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

So everything was working grand. I had both SQL2005 and 2008 installed and were working together just fine. Then I installed 2008R2. And everything was still fine minus the fact that I couldn't run anything with the dtexecui.

I have 2 computers that mirror each other in what's installed on them. SQL2005/2008/R2 were installed on both of them. Then when I started having package issues, I uninstalled R2.

Computer A works fine. After I uninstalled R2, I reinstalled the components from the sql2008 disk and packages work/open/run with dtexec/ui

On Computer B (which is the more important one of course) I get this error when trying to open a package (in bids).

Error    4    Error loading 'Package.dtsx' : Could not load type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSPackageSigning100' from assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91'..

And then it gives me the little red x in the right corner.

I tried re-registering everything based on this post http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-IE/sqlkjsetupandupgrade/thread/5ed7480b-2ca5-48de-bd3b-4b3752237c31 and that didn't work.

Then I uninstalled SQL2008, reinstalled, applied SP1, it still didn't work. Then I re-registered things again and it still d

Error Running SSIS Package as SQL Agent Job loading a file from network drive, works fine in bids an

Having problems reading an excel file from a networked drive while running a package as a SQL Agent job step as a type "SQL Server Integration Services Package". I have agent running as an AD account, and I can use the execute package utility logged in as this account and it works. When I log into the server as this account, I can see the network drive, read/write/create to folders on the drive but when I try to run the agent job it cant find the file. I tried using the unc path in the config file rather than a mapped drive, still no luck. If I use a local drive (c) in the config file, the job works fine so it has to do with the network drive. Running windows server 2003 standard R2, SQL Server 2005 standard sp3. Any ideas out there?

SSIS 2005 & 2008 BIDS and VS2005/2008 Will VS2010 work with either SSIS package?

I've read the old posts about having to have the BIDS version match the SSIS package version. My question is with VS2010 is there any change? Can I edit either of the old versions of SSIS packages in VS2010 or do I have to have 3 versions of Visual Studio/BIDS on my machine? TIA J

Error loading package

Hi there all... We've just started using SSIS packages, and everything seems to be going ok. I've recently set up a couple of jobs which just run an SSIS package every 5 minutes to collect data. These run fine 90% of the time, but intermittantly produce an error. When using a SSIS task in the job it simply reported"Could not load Package." I have changed these to use DTExec as I heard it gave more verbose execution results, and now I get an error like"Executed as user: NZ\SQLAdmin. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility  Version 9.00.1399.06 for 32-bit  Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. So far I have not been able to find anyone else with similar errors.Whenever the package executes it seems to run fine, so this seems to be an error just getting the package to execute in the first place, and as I said it only happens internittantly. The packages talk to a SQL2005 server using windows authentication (which I assume is inherited from the SQLAgent service user), as well as a MySQL

dtutil won't deploy my package, "error 0xc0011008 loading from XML"

My package runs fine on the dev server with remote database.  SSMS deploys it to the msdb on the remote server, no problem, and it runs there with no problem.

But when I try to use dtutil from the command line to deploy it from a local .dtsx file to the remote server, I get the following message:

Dev system is using Visual Studio 2008 and BI Studio R2, database server is SQl 2008 but not R2.

I don't think that matters.

What might matter is that I have embedded spaces in the file names and package names - just renaming the file didn't seem to help, I think I'll try renaming the package, for lack of any better idea to try.

Or, could it be a 32bit/64bit thing?  I'm not sure who is 32bit and who is 64bits, actually.

Help!??!

Thanks.

Error loading dtsx: The connection is not found.

We have several SSIS packages that have been running fine.  The last time they changed were on 01/30/2009.

We're using package configurations pointing to a SQL server table (sql 2005).  The packages run from one clustered computer, which has a default instance of sql server enterprice on 64-bit machine, the connection is to another clustered box, which has a named instance of sql server.  All of a sudden we started getting "Error loading dtsx: The connection is not found. This error is thrown by Connections collection when the specific connection element is not found."
The server team swears nothing has changed.  I'm at a loss.  When I open the package on the server in BIDS, still get same error.  I keep having to re-add the connection and save.  If I re-open it gives the same errors all over again.  All our SSIS packages are stored on the file system, protection-level is "don't save sensitive".

Table entry for this connection is:  ConfiguredValue = "Data Source=HQESQL4\HQESQL4;Initial Catalog=ETL temp rep;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;", PackagePath = "\Package.Connections[ETL temp rep 4 Database].Properties[ConnectionString]"

BIDS 2008 hanging when opening package

Ideas are extremely welcome here.

I have a fresh install of windows 7/64, sql 2008 sp1, visual studio 2008 sp1. Fresh as of last week. BIDS installed just fine - nothing to worry about there. Everything was working fine with my packages and then suddenly now they practically won't open.

If they decide to open I get the nice little "Visual Studio is busy - if you encounter this problem often please report this to Microsoft" error in my tray while it's trying to open. So I wait. And finally it will open but I can't do anything. On all of them DelayValidation = True.  It does this both on "Work Offline" and "Work Online". And thing is they were working just fine. I imported them into a new project. Same deal.

When I restart my computer and try to open them again I get the same response. I've nuked my suo file before opening every time. Same deal though. I don't have any addon installed (no resharper - no bids helper).

Visual Studio isn't pegging the processor or ram - just what I normally would see.

Is there some magic setting that I need to flip to make them work again?

Thanks!

Parameter error writing to excell 2007 file using SQL 2008 Server Agent JOB, works in BIDS.

I am getting the following error message when I try to run a script that writes to an excel file calling my Package with a SQL 2008 JOB.

Executed as user: xxxx\xxxxxxx. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility  Version 10.0.1600.22 for 32-bit  Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved.    Option "12.0;HDR=YES;" is not valid.  The command line parameters are invalid.  The step failed.

This same package runs correctly if I execute it in dev mode in BIDS.  I had to set 64bitmode to false in Dev mode to get it to work.  I set executable options in the job step to 'run in 32 bit mode'  The error message indicates to me it is trying to run in 32 bit mode which should be correct but it doesn't like the extended parameters. .

Here is my connection string from the data sources tab on the job

Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=c:\xxxx.xlsx;Extended Properties="EXCEL 12.0;HDR=YES";

This was filled in ny the connection object for me.  I have read the article closely at http://toddmcdermid.blogspot.com/2009/10/quick-reference-ssis-in-32-and-64-bits.html and still can't figure out what I need to change.

'Package.xsd' Error when creating a Slipstreamed, Prepared Instance of SQL Server 2008 R2

Hi,

I am trying to create a Prepared Instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 using an install that is Slipstreamed to include SP1. I followed Option 1 as described here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638062.aspx and then was creating the Stand-Alone Prepared Instance as described here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210664.aspx. The System Configuration Checker passed with no errors, and then I hit this error:

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

The element 'Package' in namespace 'http://www.microsoft.com/sql/slp/Package.xsd' has invalid child element 'Rules' in namespace 'http://www.microsoft.com/sql/slp/Package.xsd'. List of possible elements expected: 'Properties, Datastore, Extensions, MsiPatches, RuleGroups, Sequences' in namespace 'http://www.microsoft.com/sql/slp/Package.xsd' as well as any element in namespace '##other'.

Error code 0x84B10001.

Any ideas as to the problem and solution?

Thanks,

Erik

Server 2008 R2 -> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error mess

So I am using the aspnet_regiis.exe tool to encrypt sections of the web.config in my asp.net applications and services.  I have done this for years successfully on Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6).  However I just moved some apps over to Windows Server 2008 R2 (with IIS 7.5) and I am now receiving the following error at runtime:

"Server was unable to process request. ---> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: Bad Data."

Now I am quite familiar with this process and am stumped at what I have missed this time around.  I have done ALL of the following which typically suffices for the process on the server. PLEASE READ ALL AND DO NOT PROVIDE RESPONSES OR LINKS FOR THINGS I HAVE ALREADY DONE Thanks!!  Wink

  1. Imported the keys to the server using aspnet_regiis -pi  Result: Success
  2. Given FULL permission (using -full switch) using aspnet_regiis -pa to ALL of the following accounts  Result: Success

SQL Server 2008 R2 BIDS PageHeader's PrintOnFirstPage=False Not Behaving Like SQL Server 2008 BIDS

I have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise edition to 2008 R2 Enterprise, and was in the process of validating that the process did not have any adverse affects on my existing 150 reports originally designed and managed via BIDS 2008. Several reports were designed where the first page has a header different from the rest of the pages.  I created the generic header in the PageHeader and set PrintOnFirstPage to False.  This worked great in 2008...but in 2008 R2 the real estate on the first page is not "freed," so the first page looks like it has an enormous top margin when rendered as a PDF. Even playing around with the visibility of the text box doesn't eliminate the whitespace - and setting visibility properties was not required to get it to work in SQL Server, which rendered as a PDF perfectly just yesterday before our upgrade! I noticed that there were three patches available, but I did not see a Fix available that addressed this issue, therefore I did not install them as advised on the site. Is there any way to do free up the real estate so my first page can use it (maybe a setting in 2008 R2 that wasn't there for 2008)? Or is this a known bug between the two and a patch/hotfix is in the works? I'd hate to have reports that were specifically designed with certain paging to have to be revisited one by one. Thank you fo
