Cannot Display Application Page as Custom Form for Content Type

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I've created a custom content type in VS. In "Elements.xml" file of my content type, I added my custom application page as new form and deployed as feature.

   <XmlDocument NamespaceURI="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/v3/contenttype/forms">

Form opening in infopath client despite Content Type settings "Display as a Web Page"

Hi all,   I have a strange behavior with my forms. The infopath template is defined as Content Type for my Form library, in the advanced settings I have checked "Display as a Web page" for the "Opening browser-enabled documents" setting. Despite that when the client is availble on the computer which is browsing the Form Library, I'm asked to "Open", "Save" or "Cancel" instead of opening the form in the browser.   Any idea why this is happening ?

Inserting a custom list form for a custom content type

Hello, When I try to insert a custom list form for a custom content type I created, nothing happens. Same thing is for the content type "message" & "discussion". I already cleaned up my profile (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/spdsupport/archive/2008/07/03/how-to-fix-custom-list-forms-will-not-insert-or-show-up-on-the-design-surface-of-sharepoint-designer.aspx) I use MOSS 2007 version and SP designer 2007 SP2 on Win7. Below you can see an example of the custom content type.     Columns Name Type Status Source Title Single line of text Required Item Segment Lookup Optional   Form Lookup Optional   Main Product Lookup Optional   Weight Number Optional   Price/Kg Currency Optional   Unit Price Currency Optional   Manufacturer Lookup Optional   Packaging Lookup Optional   PL Yes/No Optional   Label Lookup Optional   USP Lookup Optional   POSC Lookup Required   Place Lookup Hidden StoreCheckHeader Country Lookup Hidden StoreCheckHeader SC_Link Single line of text Hidden StoreCheckHeader

http 400 Error when performing item upload after setting custom edit form on content type

What I am trying to do is create custom edit forms for different content types within the same document library.....so basically I have done the following:

  • I have created two site content types and reconfigured my library to use CT's.
  • I then connected to my site using SPD.
  • When examining my library I can see that I have the two CT that I added earlier.  I then created a new editform for one the CTs using the top ribbon menu and in the drop down box associated it to the CT.  I did not select this as the default form for the library.
  • I then updated the library CT (not site CT) with the url to form in the editform properties.

When I create a document and edit the properties it works fine - totally as expected.  However when I upload a document the default EditForm for the library is used and I can select the CT to associate the document to.  When I choose the CT with the custom form the new edit form is not found and I get a page not found error - http 400.

The full url for this library is is http://XXXX/functions/ehs/CSI

So the URL I have used is /functions/ehs/CSI/Forms/EditForm2.aspx (EditForm2.aspx) is my form and this is fine.  I have even used CSI/Forms/EditForm2.aspx and this works...  BUT ne

How do I deploy a custom form with a Content Type?

I have a VseWSS solution which deploys a site definition. Within this are some site columns and content types. With one of these custom content types, I'd like to use a customised form for displaying details. I know how to do it manually via SPD (List Properties > Supporting Files > Content Type, etc) but I can't figure out how to include it in my package.

How do I get an InfoPath form to use the Ribbon on a custom application page?

I'd like to display an InfoPath form in a custom aspx page using the XmlFormView control.  When I do, the Submit/Close options show up in the old style blue toolbar instead of the v4 ribbon - even though there is a ribbon at the top of the page.  Is there something I need to add to my aspx page to get the form to use the ribbon instead?

The custom aspx page is deployed in _layouts\subfolder directory and it uses the site's default master page. The InfoPath form is deployed as a site content type.

I don't think it's a problem with the master page or the InfoPath form itself because if I display the form using the Form View web part the actions show up in the ribbon.

How can I use the ribbon when using the XmlFormView?

Create buttons for "new item" which create a new page of a specific content type

We have a Pages library (wiki) which supports a few content types (and page layout associated). We want to enable users to click a button for example of "new custom enterprise wiki page" - so a new page of content type article will be open in edit mode. Can someone help how to develop? (it has to mimic the behavior that happens when user creates new page from the Ribbon or Site actions and has to choose the content type, it also has to keep the new page in edit mode and not just create it).

Form input to output as a link on the display page (need help please)

I have a form, the form works great and displays the information perfectly on a designated display page I have set up from its database.  One problem, I want to display it as a link to the site instead of how it is now, just plain text. Thus the user would put in the text box the site and hit submit and the site would appear of the display page.  Can anyone please assist me on this, and where to drop the hyperlink control? in the form page? or in the display page?    Below is my form code page:     <p><strong><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">International Access Entry      Form</font></strong></p><p><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Please enter information      international contact information below. Custom Edit form - close modal dialog and navigate to page

Hi, I created one custom edit form for my document library, replaced default save and cancel buttons with input buttons and added the form action to them. Then I set my page as default edit form. When I click edit button, my custom form opens in modal pop up. When I try to save the item by clicking new save button, item gets saved but pop remains as it is. Now, I want the modal pop up to get closed and navigate to page other than the parent page with some parameters after I click save button. How can I achieve this? Thanks!!

How To Use a Specific Sites' Master Page for my custom asp.net application

I have a custom application that I migrated to sharepoint (compiling into single DLL and creating a fodler for it in the layouts folder in 12 hive) Currently, I am using ~/_layouts/application.master as my masterpage for the custom application. However, i would like to use a certain site's master page for my application versus the default one. For instance, I would like to use the master page from this sub site www.maindomain/sites/subsite/ Thanks for your help.

Create a list definition without a Custom Content Type

is it possible to create a list definition without creating a custom content type?  I want to create a list definition and select "Custom List" and then I just want to add fields to the custom list and not create a content type that will show up in the SharePoint GUI.  Seems like to get the new fields to show up in the new and edit forms I have to add the fields to a custom content type.

Is there any way to populate an InfoPath form field with the data from the site content type column?

I have a Form library with a form template.

The templat has a field "Office name" which should not be a fixed list of values, but a dynamical list, feeded from a different type of form. I'm a novice with InfoPath - Sharepoint and I want to find out, how can I can give users a possibility to create and maintain a list of offices and also have this list as a selection list inside main library form - ALL inside one library, if possible.

I assumed that if I publish main form (Itinerary) as a library template form and lookup form (OfficeInfo) as a SiteContent, I should be able somehow to connect to siteContent column and it's information. But I cannot see how - Site Content Gallery is not appering as a Connection item.

Can I use SiteConenct for this purpose or there are other ways to create end-user lookup lists?

Thank you!

BCS Method Security / External Content Type Permissions / Custom List Security Provider / Security T

I have an external list setup with the usual CRUD methods.  The external SQL table is also being populated by another source.  I want to enable/disable deleting depending on whether the record was created from SharePoint.  I would also like the normal list permissions to work.  So if a user has permissions to delete on the list, they can only delete items created for SharePoint.

Where should this logic be incorporated?  On the BCS Delete method, somewhere in the External Content Type or on the list instance?  Most examples I find relate to security trimming for search.  I'm only concerned about the delete method.

I'm sure there are multiple ways to accomplish this.  Which is the best?
