SharePoint 2010 crawling external websites not working

I have a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Installation on two Windows 2008 R2 Server with an additional SQL 2008 R2 Server also on a Windows 2008 R2 Server. My problem is now that I cannot crawl external websites. Local SharePoint sites and File share are working, only external websites are not working. I have a SharePoint 2007 and also a SharePoint 2008 Search Server Express running on which I can crawl the same websites without problems. I set the DisableLoopbackCheck DWORD on booth server in the registry but this didn’t help. The warring in the evenlog is changing it depends on the crawled URL. Here are the two warrings:

Source: SharePoint Server Search
Event ID: 14

The start address http://www.exampleurl1.ch cannot be crawled.

Context: Application 'Search_Service_Application_01', Catalog 'Portal_Content'

Access is denied. Verify that either the Default Content Access Account has access to this repository, or add a crawl rule to crawl this repository. If the repository being crawled is a SharePoint repository, verify that the account you are using has "Full Read" permissions on the SharePoint Web Application being crawled.   (0x80041205)

External content types are not working in SharePoint 2010 Web Front End in DMZ

I have discovered that my Web Front End server will try to connect directly to the SQL server I have listed in my external content type.  I am able to render the contenct properly on my SharePoint 2010 App server, but when I try to render the list on the DMZ server I receive Cannot connect to the LobSystem (External System).   Is there a way around this?  I would like my Web Front End to connect only to my SharePoint 2010 App tier which has access to all of the databases in my infrastructure.  The Web Front End only has access to the App tier.

We upgraded to SharePoint 2010.  I have all the managed properties setup the same on both versions.  I had to modify the query to get past one error I was receiving to SELECT FileExtension, Filename, EffectiveDate, Title, Author, State, PolicyType, ApplicationType, Pol

SharePoint Server 2010 Search - not returning results but crawling without errors

I have created a Search Service Application on a SharePoint Server 2010 (RTM) Farm and used the default Content Source. I started a Full Crawl and it suceeded with no errors etc. I ran it a few times and no issues. But if I go to the Intranet Portal Web Appliaction and do a search for a document that would have been crawled it does not show up in search results...nothing does. I am not getting any errors in Event Log or ULS Logs relevant to Search. SharePoint 2010 - External RSS feeds with SSL

I have a secure SharePoint site that i'm trying to bring in RSS feeds that are encrypted with SSL. When trying to do so I get this message: "The requested RSS feed could not be displayed. Please verify the settings and url for this feed. If this problem persists, please contact your administrator." One feed in particular I was trying to bring in was Microsoft's BPOS status feed: https://rss.microsoftonline.com/feeds.aspx?center=default&chan=notifications&lang=en-us Any input would be greatly appreciated. ** Update: eventviewer shows my server not trusting the root authority from Microsoft's cert. An operation failed because the following certificate has validation errors:\n\nSubject Name: CN=*.microsoftonline.com, OU=Microsoft Online, O=Microsoft Corporation, L=Redmond, S=Washington, C=US\nIssuer Name: CN=Microsoft Secure Server Authority, DC=redmond, DC=corp, DC=microsoft, DC=com\nThumbprint: 8146E4D98E96CE9740B9A40BFF7287F8F0C9C7FF\n\nErrors:\n\n The root of the certificate chain is not a trusted root authority.. I'm not sure how to add the root authority for this one. Thank you in advance! Sean

When Upgraded a site from Wss 3.0 to Sharepoint foundation 2010, subsites are not working

HI ALL, I recently migrated an old Sharepoint site from WSS 3.0 to Sharepoint foundation 2010. However when I am accessing the sub-sites from outside the server, I am able to see the content, but when I go to Site Settings, I get an error "File not found". Also the Views for the sub-sites are not working. However on accessing the sub-sites from the Server everything is working fine. Can anyone please help me?

SharePoint 2010 - "My Inbox"(OWA) webpart not working with Exchange 2010

Hi, I'm trying to setup the webpart "My Inbox" (OWA) in SharePoint 2010. It works when connecting to OWA running exchange 2007, but failes with error 400 not found when connecting to OWA running Exchange 2010. The error appears after logging in.  I'm using this url: https://<exchangeserver>/owa I assume that this should be supported by Exchange 2010, but it seems to fail using this parameter /?cmd=contents. Any suggestions?   Best regards, Petter

Incomming Email Not Working Correctly in SharePoint 2010

Hello everyone, We recently upgraded from SharePoint 2007 to 2010. Prior to the upgrade I had two SharePoint Document libraries setup to receive incoming emails. We had two reports scheduled in Reporting Services and each report emailed a document library once a week. After the upgrade this stopped working. The reason this stopped working was because the file names of the attachments were the same each week, however in 2007, sharepoint would append a random 4 digits to the end of the file name. Was the removed from 2010 on purpose? After discovering this didn't work, I decided to create a workflow on these lists that anytime and item is added go change the file name to include the list ID to ensure that the file names will be unique. Only to find out that items added to the list from the incomming emails do not trigger the workflow. Doing some research on this and it looks like it was turned into Mircosoft as a bug in 2007 which had a fix, but the fix is only for 2007 is doesn't say it applies to SharePoint 2010 so I don't want to install it. Anyone know if there is a fix for this in SharePoint 2010? Thanks in advance, Matt
