Question On MOSS 2007 Configuration Wizard

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Can anyone tell me what the pro's and cons are when configuring MOSS 2007 or 2010 using the Wizard versus Psconfig command-line. Is one way better then the other?

I would think that the command line would be more time consuming and prone to human errors.

Installation of Sharepoint 2007 Service pack 2 fails on Step 8 of Sharepoint Configuration Wizard

Here's the deal:-

Our test environment consists of one SQL Server 2005 machine, 1 Domain Controller and 1 Windows 2008 R2 server with Sharepoint 2007 and Project 2007 installed.

We wanted to test the installation of Sharepoint 2007 Service Pack 2 in our test environment. I followed the instructions available from Technet to install both the WSS 3.0 SP2 and MOSS 2007 SP2 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637740(office.12).aspx BUT the last part of the Sharepoint Configuration Wizard failed with the following error:-

SQL Database 'ProjectServer_Published' on SQL Server instance 'SPDatabaseServiceInstance'

not found. Additional error information from SQL

Server is included below.

Cannot open database "ProjectServer_Published" requested by the login.

The login failed.

Login failed for user 'domain\FarmAdmin'.

The weird thing is my database is called 'MTL_Project_Published'

So it looks like it's looking for the old project databases.

Has anyone encountered this issue before when installing the service pack 2 of Sharepoint 2007 in their environment?

I have tried all the other solutions posted on the Internet such as running the upgrade via the command prompt, cleari

MOSS 2007 Profile Property Question

I am trying to delete a default property in my MOSS 2007 farm.    We have created a custom property called Core Skills and I want to remove my default skills field.  But the delete button is greyed out.  I am noticing this on a few of the default properties.    Is there a reason why we can't delete them?

We are running MOSS SP2.

Sharepoint Moss 2007 Navigation Question

I am experiencing a problem with the navigation. I have a document library and I do not get the navigation bar(if that is what it is called) to display the folders and sub folders below it.

For example in the document library I have a folder called test and a sub folder called test2

The navigation bar shows :

Home > IT even though I am in the document library. (By the way the site I am in is IT)

Now if I browse to the folder test > test 2

I still get Home > IT instead of

Home > Document Center > test > test2

Any help will be appreciated.

Migrating MOSS 2007 installation from one database server to another - configuration database issue

The database server which our sharepoint installation is currently using is going to be shutdown and a new one is going to be put in production.

I read in some post that the configuration database cannot be moved (while the same operation type is documented for content database). Is this correct?

Isn't there a way by which I can modify my current moss installation to define the use of another sql server for configuration (and then later for content) databases?

Any other workaround or procedure?

Thank you!

MOSS 2007 email integration question (Not with Exchange)

Does anyone have any experience with integrating MOSS 2007 with the business/government edition of Gmail?  Is there any documentation/blogs/anything out there?  I've googled but not been able to find anything (yes, it's highly possible I'm just not using the right search string) really.

MOSS 2007
Server 2003 R2 Enterprise
SQL 2005 SP3 (separate)

Currently we have exchange set up to handle everything but will be going to Gmail in the next few months (not my choice, not my decision).  I have no idea how/if this is going to work with SharePoint.

Any information or pointers to info would be much appreciated.

I use MOSS 2007. The user profiles are set to import the phone number 'Work Phone' from AD. However, for just one user the phone number displayed is incorrect. I deleted the user profile from the SSP and did a full import again, still there is no change.
