Paired/unpaired html tags

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a string....

String s = "<html><body><h3>this is heading</h3><p>This is general text first para</p> <p>second para</p></body><html>"

Now i trim first 50 chars from the above string

Surely the resultant s will then loose some closing tags.

How can i prevent this?

Rendering data with HTML tags in the DD Gridview for a selected column

I am having trouble finding out where and how to HTML Encode a cell's data on the Dynamic Data (v4.0) gridview of List.aspx.  As a simple case, suppose I have formatted cell data that is A<br/>B in the DB.    Obviously, I want A stacked on B in the cell.

It seems gridView1.HtmlEncode = true has gone away.

So maybe I'll try to catch it on the RowDataBound event:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)

            if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
                // Html Encode the cells

but this event never fires?

Has anyone figured out how to properly render HTML tags data in the List.aspx's GridView1?

If I figure this out, then I can add a MetaAttribute called something like [EncodeAsHtml(true)] and be on my way.  Thanks!

How to eliminate html tags from text boxes

Hi all,   In my application I am using a login screen. While a new user registers he has to fill the First name and Last name. There is a user search option. The details of the users will be shown in the user details page. Some users try to add html tags like </td></tr> with first name and last name. So after rendering from DB the page alignment is breaking.   How to fix this problem??   How can I avoid html tags while entering the user details?   Please give me a solution:-   Thank You

Query Sharepoint list, rich text columns returning HTML tags

Hi! So I have an issue that maybe someone of you have encountered as well. I am querying a Sharepoint list and creating a report from the data collected from this list. This all works fine except that one of the columns in this list is of the type "Multiple lines of text" and also supports "rich text" with different fonts, sizes and so on. This has the effect that the text returned from this column is wrapped in HTML tags that specifies how the text should be formatted. Naturally I do not want this HTML code to appear in my report so for now I have used custom code to do a string.replace and replaced for example <div></div> and <br> with "". However, this column also has url references to documents and these links shows up like this "/servername/site/subsite/Gemensamma%20dokument/Mwh.docx">http://servername/site/subsite/Gemensamma%20dokument/Mwh.docx There is some sort of double reference to the document that I guess like the HTML tags are embedded in the answer from the rich text column and this is not so easy to do a string replace on because the url varies with the different document and document names. My question really is if anyone of you have done a similar report that I am doing, and have encountered this fenomen with this sharepoint column and how you did to solve this? I have tried to creat

How to prevent HtmlEditor from displaying html tags within editor?

I'm using the ajaxcontroltoolkit htmleditor to create blog posts for my website.  The editor works fine when entering a new article.  When I click the Bold button, the text appears bold.  When I hit enter, the editor creates a new line, etc.  However, I also use the htmleditor when I want to edit a preexisting article.  The problem I'm receiving, is when I bring a preexisting article into the editor, it displays a mess of html tags rather than the clean, formatted text.

For example, if I type the following into the editor:

Hello World

How are you?

...when I go to edit it, it shall appear as:

<span style="font-weight: bold">Hello World</span><br /> <br />How are you?

Is there any way to force the editor to display this text properly when editting rather than showing the html tags?

Embedded HTML using
to replace tags in ssrs 2008

After doing various amounts of research and testing I need to post a question here.

I am using an html editor to format html and data (for reports) and then using reporting services to render the html harnessing the report server to view, export, and print.

As already many of you know around here you can set an ssrs table cell to “HTML – Interpret HTML tags as styles”.  Also many of you know that this functionality does not accept <table><tr><td></td></tr></table> tags.  However, the documentation says it support <div> tags. Yet when I try using div tags with the appropriate styles for creating tables this does not work either.  So if ssrs handles <div> tags could you please tell me a complete list of style attributes it handles as well?

How to bind text containing HTML and ASP.NET tags from database

I have to show dynamic charts to clients.

I created table: ChartCodes

ChartCodeID     Code

1                      <asp:SqlDataSource ID='SqlDataSource_Chart1' runat='server' ConnectionString='<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>' SelectCommand='Usp_GetTotalEmissions_Org_chart' SelectCommandType='StoredProcedure'><SelectParameters>< . . .. . . . .

I wrote code of chart with sqldatasource in database column.

My problem is I could not able bind. I used DataList Control with a template and literal.

Bind literal with <%# Eval("Code") %>

But In sql I have ASP.NET tags <%  %>.   and when processing process %>, it assumes asp.net ends and wrote other text as it is in out put.

Please help me to find how to bind this text. Or any other Idea to display graphs from database as per user selection.

HitHighlightedSummary and HTML Tags

I am using KeywordQuery and printing out the HitHighlightedSummary but this contains HTML tags and is cutting some of them off, I assume because it finds the relevant text and then cuts off after a certain number of characters. This is resulting in mis-formed HTML e.g. <a href="exa         and then no closing tag for the a.

I'm not sure if the HitHighlightedSummary should contain any HTML tags?

Has anyone seen this behaviour before?

Call a SQL Server function(cleans html tags) on a derived column in SSIS

I have a task to move table having "text" data type for a column from SQL Server to CSV file so while transfering the data using SSIS I want to perform Cleanup on this column such as removing HTML tags, White spaces etc and then transfer it. Note: I dont have any option to store the table in the staging database as I will be running it on the production server directly.

Can any one help me accomplish this task???

How to show html tags in Properties.Errormessage in Itemadding, Itemupdating?

    properties.Cancel = true;
    properties.ErrorMessage = "You are yet to choose an answer . <a href='" + cUrl + "/lists/hire/Emp.aspx" + "'> <u>Click</u></a> here to define now<br>";

In the above examples (within ItemAdding), the error message is shown but it doesn't show the actual hyperlink itself. It shows everything including the <a> and </a> tags.

Is there anything to set anywhere else to show the html tags.
