Client ID basic question

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 23, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi guys,

Is there any problem to use MANUALLY, within a Javascript, the client ID code?

Like that  ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderConteudo_pgtoiframe

I have one iFrame that need to access div style located in the parent page. So I've done that using manually the clientID code. The code works perfectly and It's still working fine right now.

Will I get errors or problems in the future using it in that manner????

Thank you

Very Basic Question - Error message running first page

Hi Everyone,

I am running Windows 7 and I have gone into Control Panel and activated all of the IIS Functions.

The web application I am running was downloaded from the net (and has worked on other machines previously).  Once I downloaded it, I moved it into C:/inetpub/wwwroot/code/main.asp

I am a bit of a novice at this!  But I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

I get the following error when I try and run the web application through IE:

"An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error."

(When i click the "click here" button it just goes to the IIS site).

Appreciate any help I can get!

Looking for a simple Service and Console Client REST sample implementing BASIC authentication

Does anyone know of a C# code sample demonstrating WCF REST services and console test client with OperationContracts (GET and POST) implementing mutiple paramaters using BASIC authentication? Also, perhaps, using Fiddler as a test client as well? I have searched high and low for something like this, but have not had any success.

Basic question

I m using VS 2005. When I create a website using VS 2005, it doesnt let me choose the solution folder it automatically creates the folder under My Document. Dont know why. I created website under say C:\Project\MyWebsite.

I have a page, with an image whose source is /image/xyz.gif. So I created a folder image under c:\Project\MyWebsite and have xyz.gif. But the page didnt show the image. If the image path is "image/xyz.gif" then it works. Isnt the directory that you create MyWebsite the root directory?.

Basic question about web services

I followed an example on how to create a simple web service that converts celsius to fahrenheit. It seems to work alright. After the conversion it outputs the new value in xml. What do you do with the value that's in xml? Do you use an Xmlreader to read it from the xml, or what is usually done after the value is generated in xml?

Educational question: How server objects are accessed from multiple client threads?

I will appreciate it if someone can help me to undestand how the following scenario works:   There is remoting server that is registered as WellKnownObjectMode.Singleton. Server implementation: It instantiates a class TestServer that implements interface IFoo interface IFoo { IHelper GetHelper() }   interface IHelper { void StoreString(); }   Implementation of TestServer: internal sealed class TestServer: System.MarshalByRefObject, IFoo { private IHelper> helper = new Helper(); public IHelper GetHelper(string helper){return helper;} }   Implementation of Helper: internal sealed class Helper : System.MarshalByRefObject, IHelper { public void StoreString (string val) {}; }   Implementation of a client (simplified; shown to illustrate the question only): static class Program { public static IFoo TestService; public static IHelper Helper; public TestThreads testmultiplecalls; [STAThread] static void Main() { TestService = (IFoo)Activator.GetObject(typeof(IFoo),"ipc://Channel"); Helper = TestService.GetHelper(); testmultiplecalls.Start(); } }   internal class TestThreads { public Start() { for (int i = 0; i < 20; i++) ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem((new TestCall(i.ToString())).DoWork); } }     internal class TestCall { private string m_str; public TestCall (string str) {m_str = str;} public void DoWork() { Program.Helper.StoreString(m_str); } }     Que

SQL architecure basic question

Hey, I am new to SQL Server or RDBMS. I am a .Net developer. I would like to get SQL Server installed to my PC. I am seeing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools in my Start Menu/Programs, which has server configuration, Error and usage reporting and Surface area configuration. What are they? Is SQL server already installed in my PC? I heard there are management studio but I am not seeing that. what are they? how do they work? any good article links to explain the basics? Basic Question on .NET CLR in SQL - Calling a function directly?

Hello, I have been reading up on CLR + SQL integration - My aim is to do an e-mail validation by calling RegEx functionality provided by the CLR.However from what I read and if I understand correct - I would need to create a .NET assembly and load it. I was wondering if there is an option to invoke .NET functions directly from SQL [e.g like create a function and access the .NET classes] . ?C# Fan! ananda84(at)gmail(dot)com

Basic Encryption Question

I have been looking at ways of encrypting querystrings and I have found a few good examples.. but, I just want some clarification on what is most often referred to as the EncryptionKey and the characters that are in that key....Is there basically an unlimited number of alphanumeric combinations that could be used in the following code as the encryption key, is there anything that someone should be CAREFUL about including in that key?thanks...using System.Security.Cryptography;private static string EncryptionKey = "!#$a54?3";/// other examples: "r0b1nr0y"///in a try-catch:key = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(EncryptionKey.Substring(0, 8));DESCryptoServiceProvider des = new DESCryptoServiceProvider(); inputByteArray = Convert.FromBase64String(Input);

x509 - Client Certificate infrastructure for Asp.Net question

I dont have a lot of background with SSL and X509 configuration and support with my Asp.Net application, so I was wondering if someone can explain or point me in the right direction to MSDN or any other article or posting explaining if it's possible to do what I am looking to support in my environment.I have IIS 6.0 with SSL (Verisign cert) as well as "Require client certificates" working against a local installation of Microsoft Certificate Services, https://<domain>/certsrv, where users can request and install client certs (both xp clients for basic mode, and Vista/7 for advance mode). Here's what I am up against:I have a segment of users coming from a virtualized server environment where this environment does not store personal settings for more than 48 hours. It's not an internet cafe, but rather an actual business where their IT staff uses server images to reimage each virtual server in the farm every 48hrs. Thus losing all users data in the "Current Users" Certificate Stores. The IT staff give users a network folder share to store any personal items (docs, spreadsheets, links, etc.). The servers consist of Windows Server 2003, and will be migrating to Windows Server 2008 in the next 6-9 months. These users have rights in Internet Explorer to navigate to my certsrv site and use activex to to request and install certificates then clode and

Animation sample and basic XAML question.

I am trying to put into place the animation sample in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.media.animation.stringkeyframe.keytime.aspx It doesn't work. I have two questions. 1) The example lists both the XAML and the C# code. It doesn't seem that the two are tied together. In this example is the XAML and C# code just two ways of obtaining the same result? 2) When the Rectangle is constructed in the C# code the properties set and the delegate event 'Loaded' asssigned. How is this event triggered? Just for learning purposes I would like to have this rectangle move across the bounds of the application window when triggered and stop again under user control. I am not sure how to construct the restangle then have it tied to my main window. Thank you. Kevin

(basic) DESCENDANTS question (I think) :-)

I am trying to get (first level) DESCENDANTS' aggregation for two different hierarchy types and it seems that for parent-child hierarchies it works fine (first example) however for regular hierarchies (non parent-child) it does not work, returning the same level's data.  Am I missing something basic here? I would really like to get the aggregation working for non parent-child hierarchies but I'm stumped on the syntax or whether it is doable. thx much for any thoughts! Cos   --Adventure Works -- with Parent/Child Hierarchy -- works fine! with member measures.[Rollup Amount] as   Aggregate(Descendants([Account].[Accounts].CurrentMember,                                             1,                                             SELF),[Measures].[Amount]) select {[Measures].[Amount], measures.[Rollup Amount]      } on 0, nonempty([Account].[Accounts].levels(0).members,[Measures].[Amount]) on 1 from [Adventure Works]

Another basic Data Binding question

3 days ago (thanks to Olaf) I was able to make progress with binding a data collection to a DataGrid. Since then I have searched the web in vain for a VB example to enable me to switch off the DataGrid AutoGenerateColumns and enter my own columns and appropriate Paths to the Collection’s properties.   The following code works fine but I can’t work out how to enter my own individual columns etc. Can anyone give me the syntax for an example of one column please?   Why is it so difficult to find VB examples of WPF demos etc? (Nearly everything is in C#.)   I have some experience in Access VB so have picked VB in trying to use WPF. I would be grateful for any links to VB WPF resources. Option Explicit On Option Strict On Imports System.Collections.ObjectModel Partial Public Class DataGrid_FilledFromCodeBehind Private _ocEng As ObservableCollection(Of EnPlayer) Public Property EngSqd() As ObservableCollection(Of EnPlayer) Get Return _ocEng End Get Set(ByVal value As ObservableCollection(Of EnPlayer)) _ocEng = value End Set End Property Private Sub Window_Loaded(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles MyBase.Loaded _ocEng = New ObservableCollection(Of EnPlayer)() For i = 0 To 4 EngSqd.Add(New EnPlayer(ref(i), names(i), ages(i), bat(i))) Next Me.DataCon

Basic Data Access question (ObjectDisposedExpection)

I am just starting to look at .NET 4.0 and Entity Framework 4 and having trouble finding the best way to achieve something. I'll explain with a quick example:I got my CategoryManager class that looks like this:public sealed class CategoryManager { public System.Data.Objects.ObjectSet<Category> Categories { get { try { StoreEntities storeDb = new StoreEntities();                    using (storeDb)                    {                        return storeDb.Categories;                    } } catch (Exception) { //TODO  throw; } } } public List<string> GetCategoryNames() { try { var categories = from category in this.Categories select category.Name; return categories.ToList();

If you could suggest some beginners' tutorial for me as I do not have a programming background. I need to work on .Net in C#. Thanks again.

Very basic terminology SQL question

In the example, where Column B depends on Column A...

If I understand correctly, it is the same as saying Column B references Column A.
But would it be false to say, Column A references Column B? (I'm using the word "references" to mean "any form of relationship between two columns" in this example)?
