Creating a localized Field Displaypattern

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

It seems like the "old" CAML displaypattern no longer works in in SharePoint 2010 for custom Fields. So I used the following instructions to create an XSL-file for custom field rendering. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff606773(v=office.14).aspx

Everything seems to work except for the localization of the new display-pattern. Then I found instructions (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff806155.aspx) how localization works in those xsl-files. The bad part about that is: "SharePoint Foundation also uses parameter bindings to make resources available to XSLT transforms. To define a resource for use within XSLT, you can define the resource in a .resx file, bind the resource to a view by declaring it in the <ParameterBindings> section of the list’s Schema.xml file, and then consume the resource in your custom XSLT. You can also programmatically add a parameter binding through the object model. "

Creating a custom drop down field type with SelectedIndexChanged Event

Hi All, I am trying to create a custom drop down field type and I was able to acheive that using the MS link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb861799.aspx. As per the link, once the custom field is created we can override the "Validate" method to write the Validation logic and that works fine for me too. However I am facing a challenge even before going to Validate . Let me explain my actual requirements here. I need to build a custom drop down field and expose the field to the user in "Edit Properties " Page of a document library. Along with this field, I will be having some OOB site columns in the Edit Properties Page (Ex: Title, Subject etc)  . When user selects a value in the drop down, I need to hide/show few OOB site columns based on certain criteria.  I am facing a challenge of how to capture the "SelectedIndexChanged " event for the Custom drop down field in Sharepoint (Can we wire the SelectedIndexChanged event to a custom dropdown field type) ? Is this acheivable in SP 2010 Custom field type ? If so, how can I do it ? Can any of you kindly help me here?   Regards, Yesh

Custom Field - SP is creating HyperLinks and using HTML entities

Hello. I'm seeking help with a problem related to a custom field in SharePoint 2010. Our Custom Field builds upon (extends) the SPFieldMultiLineText field. Data saved to our Custom Field is being processed by SharePoint before it is sent to the client. For example < and > is replaced by HTML entities (&lt; and &gt;). Text such as http://bing.com and mail@bing.com is automatically being converted to hyper links (<a href="mailto:mail@bing.com">mail@bing.com</a>). Is it in any way possible to have SharePoint deliver the data as it was stored in the custom field? We don't want it to replace HTML with HTML entites, nor should it create hyperlinks automatically. I have attached our XSL file below. <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:x="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/dsp" version="1.0" exclude-result-prefixes="xsl msxsl ddwrt" xmlns:ddwrt="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WebParts/v2/DataView/runtime" xmlns:asp="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ASPNET/20" xmlns:__designer="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WebParts/v2/DataView/designer" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:msxsl="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt" xmlns:SharePoint="Micros

Duplicate field name error, creating new site from custom template

I've made a site that maps the site (with a table of contents) and i export it to another site collection. I'm able to install and activate the solution in the other site collection, however when i'm going to create a new site using the site i've installed as a template it pops an error saying "A duplicate field name Wiki_x0020_Page_x0020_CategoriesTaxHTField" was found." I have no clue what this means. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance

Attendance column not showing up as field when creating new calendar item

I have a SharePoint calendar, with a little over a dozen columns (I have also added a couple extra columns). When adding/editing calendar events, I notice that the Attendance column is not showing up as a field. If I look in SP Designer, I see the column, Attendance, but it shows a blank Content Type (whereas most all the other columns have a Content Type of Event). Can someone please talk me through this? Not only do I need the Attendance column to be a field for a calendar event, but I have the same calendar on many other sites, so hopefully I can update the Content Type for the Attendance column to Event and solve my problem. Please advise.

Programmatically creating a Person or Group type field Textbox (similar to 'Assigned To' field in Ta

In our ASP.NET application created with SharePoint object model, we have a user interface with a Contact Person TextBox, we want this TextBox to be similar to the “Assigned To” filed in out-of-the-box Task List where you can search for a particular site user by typing in his/her name. How can we achieve this functionality programmatically?

Thanks in advance………

Querying a SharePoint List: Creating a Report Parameter based on a SharePoint List field

I have been struggling with this problem over a week now and am at my wits end.   I have created a RS(2005) report and am currently querying data from a SharePoint List.  If anybody is interested in seeing how I set it up I follow this simply walk through on Code Project.  http://www.codeproject.com/KB/reporting-services/ReportFromSharePoint.aspx.

I need to create a custom report parameter and reference a field that I have created in my SharePoint list.   When I run the report I would like to 'Filter' the result set with the value selected in the report parameter field.  I have looked anywhere and everywhere and don't know if I am over complicating this problem but I have yet to find a solution.

Please and Thank you

Creating your SharePoint Governance Plan

One of the most common questions that I get from prospects as I'm talking to them about the creation of a governance plan and process is what does it look like. In other words, there are materials available which describe what should be in a governance plan but there isn't a ton of guidance on what the process of creating a governance plan and process are.
