This is a fresh build. Not enough going on to warant more data bases.
Anyone run into this yet?

Health Analyzer reports "Product / patch installation or server upgrade required." and I can't seem

The text of the error is: On server SHAREPOINTSERVER, once all required products and/or patches are installed, perform an upgrade by either running PSConfigUI.exe or by executing the command "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures". If a former upgrade attempt has failed, you may need to resolve upgrade specific issues before attempting upgrade again. Refer to the upgrade status page (http://sharepointserver:XXXX/_admin/UpgradeStatus.aspx) for information about current and prior upgrade attempts, and to determine issues that may be preventing upgrade from succeeding. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142700". So I went to the server in question and ran the command line quoted in the error message and then I get this error back: Configuration of SharePoint Products failed. Configuration must be performed before you use SharePoint Products. For further details, see the diagnostic log located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\1 4\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_....log and the application event log. So fine, I look into the event log and get this: Failed to initiate the upgrade sequence. An exception of type System.IO.IOException was thrown. Additional exception information: Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoi

How to use SharePoint web analytics data programatically?

Hello Everyone, We have a requirement to pull out the 10 most visited pages from a particular Content Type and show them on a Web Part. We need to display the titles of these articles. Therefore, I would assume that only way to proceed is to create a custom Web Part that programmatically retrieves the web analytic data (OOTB Web Anlytics Web Part cannot be used due to the lack of customizability). So far, we could not find any details on how to use web analytics data programmatically. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. * Note that SPWeb.GetUsageData() is useless as it returns only 2000 records. We also looked at the reflected code of Web Analytics Web Part, and the code is fairly complex as it directly consumes the Web Analytics Service Application.   Thanks & Regards, Amal

Monthly Health Checks

I have been asked to put together a monthly health check list for our SharePoint environment. I going to look at such things as available disk space and that the Database had enough for growth. Does anyone else have such health checks?

Site Web Analytics reports and Site Collection Web Analytics reports show no data

Although I have enabled all the web analytics and health data collection option and can see that usage data files are being created both my Site Web and Site Collection analytics reports show no activity. I have checked the Sharepoint 2010 documentation and it basically states only thing to do is enable the respective option under the 'Configure web analytics and health data collection' section.

How to enable Web Analytics?

1. Central Admin: Web Analytics Service Application is OK
2. Central Admin: Web Analytics Service is started
3. Site Collection: Feature is enabled
4. Site Collection: Web Analytics Reports: No reports available.

ASP.NET Health Monitoring. How can I do this?

Hello,

I want to use "ASP.NET Health Monitoring" with an SQL but without the usual ASP.NET database and tables.

I think I need to create a custom provider. How can I do this?

Is the source of the native SQL provider available so I can follow it?

Basically it will not be much different.

Thanks,

Miguel

Estimating Web Analytics db sizes - how?

Hi all,

I have spent literally days and days looking for info on how to size our web analytics databases for a new SP2010 install.

I found the great whitepaper : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc298801.aspx   for SQL db sizing and it does all databases EXCEPT the Web anlaytics dbs.

Estimating Web analytics database sizes Sp2010 new install

Hi

Does anyone know, if we know the number of expected users, number of documents and general usage of a SP2010 system, how I could estimate the sizes of the 2 web analytics databases please? I'm trying to get a very rough idea of SQL db sizing and this part of the process has me stumped. I have spent a lot of time reading all the MS whitepapers and they are good for size estimation except for these 2 databases.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

SG
