Read Only / Edit Prompt window

Dear all,

As a default, my SharePoint farms are showing a pop up window from IE asking if users want to open the doc in read only or in edit mode. Is there a way to get rid of this window as chose one of the options for default? Where can I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Unablke to logon on Sharepoint 2007 front-end with remote IE8 client

We are having problems to logon on the sharepoint front-end server from a client pc, within the same network. The Sharepoint 2007 servers are running on WIndows 2008 Datacenter (2 Front ends, 1 index, 1 SQL database 2008 server).

When we try to logon the server creates an event with id 4625, status: 6d, sub-status: 6a. When we use the same account from IE 8.0 on one of the servers within the farm, then it works.

The same configuration is installed within another environment where evereything works.

Is there somebody that solved this issue??

Get current logon user id with SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName

Hi all,I've been trying to search for the method to display the currently logon user id. So far, most sites I've visited used SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName.I've tried this in my SharePoint custom application page. Everything works great.I have a test account, when logged in, was displayed as xxx\testacc.For some reasons, I changed the id in AD to xxx\test and did a full import to MOSS.I logged in to the custom application with the changed id, i.e. xxx\test, BUT the value of SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName still displayed as xxx\testacc!How do I get the latest id? Has anyone encountered this before?Thank you.Kelvin

automatic logon using claims based FBA??

I have been using a IHttpModule that performs automatic logon on a forms based authentication using a custom membership provider. This has worked well using any .net asp.net application including SharePoint 2007. The IHttpModule listens for the AuthorizeRequest event of the application and if the user isn't logged in it uses the FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(principal.Identity.Name, persistentCookie); to perform the "login". When I tried this on SharePoint 2010 using a claims based FBA, adding my custom membership provider as documented, I ran into some problems. First, the identity name that needed to be set in the SetAuthCookie was not the normal username, it seemed to be on a syntax like 0#.f|membershipProviderName|UserName If I used this instead (replacing membershipProviderName and UserName) with the actual ones, the login seemed to work (it felt like a hack tough and perhaps there is some better way to do this?) After a bit of testing the site the most seemed to work (a plain SharePoint 2010 site), but when I clicked on a list link (like calendar, events or announcements) I was given a servererror as below.   Has anyone any idéas? /Dan   Server Error in '/' Application. <nativehr>0x8107058a</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. How to SDelete from a System.Diagnostic.Process with no warning prompt

I have a need to securely delete files once my process is finished with them.  I have to write a file to disk, so another process can read it and process it.  It is not an option to simply write it to a stream because I have no control over the consumer of the file. So, I found the SDelete tool Sysinternals which should solve my problem nicely.  I wrappered that with the following static method in my Utility library: public static void SecureDelete(string fullyQualifiedFileName, string domain, string user, SecureString pswd) { // // This does not appear to be working properly... // it works under the debugger, but not when running as a service // using (System.Diagnostics.Process p = new System.Diagnostics.Process()) { p.StartInfo.FileName = "sdelete"; p.StartInfo.Arguments = string.Format("-q {0}", fullyQualifiedFileName); p.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; p.StartInfo.WindowStyle = System.Diagnostics.ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden; p.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = false; p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; p.StartInfo.Domain = domain; p.StartInfo.UserName = user; p.StartInfo.Password = pswd; p.Start(); } } The problem is that when I run under the debugger (using my credentials) it works fine, but this code is called from a service which runs under the Network Service account, so
