Error information in native applications

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I'm using a SQLCE database in a C++ application. My problem is that my error handling code produces messages that look incomplete, at least it looks like database specific parameters are missing. For example an SQL INSERT statement that does not fill in a "NOT NULL" field results in the following message:

OLE DB error: 0x80040E2F, Description: The column cannot contain null values. [,,,Column name,Table name,], Source:Microsoft SQL Server Compact OLE DB Provider.

The error message is clear to me in this special case but I'm wondering why the message says "Column name" and "Table name" and not the actual names of my database. Actually the brackets did never contain any useful information. That is especially annoying with parsing errors. What could be the reason?

Regarding my error code I roughly followed the documentation:

void OleDbCheck(HRESULT hr)
		if(HRESULT_FACILITY(hr) == 4)
			CComPtr<IErrorInfo> errorInfo;
			GetErrorInfo(0, &errorInfo);
				CComPtr<IErrorRecords> errorRecords;

				ULONG numErrorRecords = 0;

				for(ULONG i=0; i<numErr

ERROR [HY000] [Informix .NET provider][Informix]Database locale information mismatch

Hi, there is an upgrade to my infimacs server and my web application encounter this error after the infimacs is upgraded.

Below is the information on the server before/after the upgrade.

Solaris 8      Solaris 10

The web server where the web application hosted is running IBM Informix Connect 2.81. There is no such error before the upgrade is done.

As a developer, i have IBM Informix Client-SDK 2.90 installed on my local pc and debug the page where the read is needed from infimacs but no such error found.

The error come out only when it is hosted on the web server where IBM Informix Connect 2.81 is installed.

I have gone through many articles and it suggest me to set the environement  variable in the server :  DB_LOCALE=en_us.819.

I haven't try this solution but i think that this might not be the best solution.

Is it possible to to to have this settin

Show web applications build version information

I would like to make the build information for the running web application but I dont know where I set or configure this nor do I know how to retrieve this information.

In a project you may set the  build information in the file AssemblyInfo.cs under the projects Properties folder. Here is a snippet of the AssemblyInfo.cs file:

// Version information for an assembly consists of the following four values:
//      Major Version
//      Minor Version
//      Build Number
//      Revision
// You can specify all the values or you can default the Revision and Build Numbers
// by using the '*' as shown below:
[assembly: AssemblyVersion("6.3.0")]
[assembly: AssemblyFileVersion("6.3.0.*")]

But there is no such file for an web application project, so I have to get this information from one of the compiled DLLs that is in the same assembly as my web application then? Or how is this done?

The reason I want this information is because my customer would like to have a webpage within the web application where he could see the current version. This is also nice to have when testing and debugging etc.

BDC + Document Information Panel Javascript Error

I hope someone here can shed some light on this one...

We have a document library configured with a few content types and document information panels for those items. Also on this list we have a BDC column setup to pull client names from MS CRM. This works fine on the list itself, however, in Word 2007 - the picker does not show up in the DIP, so we cannot easily select clients without knowing the name (first issue).

Secondly, if we enter in a client name, or partial, we recieve the following error:

"There was an error in the validation code" - with the following details:
Document Information Panel cannot complete this action, because of an error
in the form's code.
The following error occurred:

Object required
FileTongue Tiedcript.js

Any help is appreciated!

Office 2010 Web Applications Install Error

We have a SharePoint 2010 Server setup in a farm configuration with a SQL 2008R2 clustered back-end that we are attempting to install Office Web Applications on.  We are following the technet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#bkmk_ins_exis_farm.  When we attempt to install the Office Web Applications on the SharePoint 2010 server (logged in as a member of the Administrators/farm admins) the progress bar completes and then displays the error "Microsoft Office Web Apps encountered an error during setup".  Looking through the Wac Server Setup.log file that setup generates doesn't yield much or any clues as to what is failing (it's lengthy and appears to just be detailing applications of a variety of languages installing and then rolling back).  The event logs are also filled with messages about the various Web Apps installing in a variety of languages and then rolling back when setup fails.  The only MsiInstaller event in the event logs that looks of any consequence is: "Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Microsoft Office Web Apps Application Server Components. Product Version: 14.0.4763.1000. Product Language: 0. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Installation success or error status: 1603." Does anyone have any experience with this issue or any suggestions/guidance?

Information Worker 2010 - Web applications do not show up

i have Information Worker 2010 VHD running on VMware-MacBookPro with 6Gb ram. I converted vhd to vmware and it runs fine but for watever reason am unable to bring up the various web applications in the VM. I can goto Central Admin but the web applications (each is configured with a host header) simply dont show up.  i googled for hrs and have tried DisableLoopback thread etc., checked dns entries but nothing helps. What am trying is definitely not to be done in a production env, which is running web app on local server. has anyone been able to bring up web apps successfully.

People Picker Render Error in Document Information Panel

I created a Content Type and added 3 columns.  One of those columns is a People Picker type column. When I open the Content Type by going to NEW -> MyContentType in a document library in SharePoint it opens in Microsoft Word but the People Picker control does not render correctly in the Document Information Panel. There is no error - just a display of a broken control. Is there a fix?

SSIS Generic Error: The command execution has generated errors, more information?

How do I get more information from this error? I am just pulling from a csv file, looking up a couple values, and on match, updating a database with a stored procedure. I have made sure all datatypes match, and that there are no special characters in any of the records. I am importing over 3000 records, and only 4 fail, with this generic error, and I have scrutinized the data to the utmost. How do I get more information on this error? The lineageID is 0, what does that mean? In know it refers to a column, but 0 certainly doesnt relate to any columns. Thanks

Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem beca

I am using SMO within c#.NET to build a SMO transfer object and then execute it to transfer data between various SQL instances...Think Import/Export wizard with some error handling ;)

using Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo;
using Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common;

If i run in debug mode the application runs fine.  As soon as I publish and run it on the same machine, same user I get the following error as soon as the transfer is attempted

The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.

Having watched the package it's ouput in DEBUG mode I can see it creating temporary xml files (TransferMetadata491574513.xml) with the various SQL scripts and a temporary DTSX file in "C:\Documents and Settings\MYUSER\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\SQL Server\Smo" , these do not get created using the published version.

If i run the exe in the DEBUG or RELEASE folder it also works fine.  The only issue is when i Publish the application.

Any suggestions?

I have checked the two MSDN articles http://support.microsoft.com/?id=918038 and http:

Error 15404 - Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'Dev\Administrator', error

SQL Server 2008 R2 with the latest CU floods event log with "An exception occurred while enqueueing a message in the target queue. Error: 15404, State: 19. Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'Dev\Administrator', error code 0x54b".

Domain controller is located on the same server (Win 2008 R2), this is SharePoint virtual machine. There are no DNS or Directory Service errors.

How can I troubleshoot this?

Error Message PowerPivot Excel on SharePoint : "Excel was unable to get necessary information about

Hello everybody:

I get the error message “Excel was unable to get necessary information about this cube. The cube might have been reorganized or changed on the server” when I open the excel on the sharePoint site and the PowerPivot Datasource is already refreshed successfully on schedule.

I describe my steps more clearly.

  • Step1. Create Excel pivot tables and charts by using PowerPivot datasource which connects to SQL Server.
  • Step2. Publish Excel to SharePoint site. The Analysis Server will build a PowerPivot cube in "VertiPaq" StorageEngineMode automatically and the cube name including an "uniqueindentifier" in the end.
  • Step3. Schedule PowerPivot refresh plan on SharePoint and the successful result comes out soon. After PowerPivot refreshed the "uniqueindentifier" will be changed to another one automatically.
  • Step4. When I open excel on the SharePoint I will get the error message again. If I click the "ok" then Excel will really Refresh.

Now I have tried two ways:

  1. Locale setting: Doesn't work. It seems not to be the cause of my problem because it won't happen if my excel's datasource is connecting to DB or Cube directly.

    'No information was found about this pixel format error' on image binding

    I've read all the posts I could find on this error but I'm still stumped.

    I have a user control with a dependency property named Image.

    In the user control I have a stack panel that contains an image and I set the binding in the xaml

    <Image HorizontalAlignment="Center" Margin="3,0,0,0" Width="85" Height="75" Source="{Binding ElementName=UserControl, Path=Image}"/>

    In a code behind I try to set the image for an instance of this control named WeatherNB

                    BitmapImage bi1 = new BitmapImage();
                    bi1.UriSource = new Uri(currentImage, UriKind.Relative);
                    this.WeatherNB.Image = bi1;

    but I get the following error

    Unhandled Exception: System.NotSupportedException: No information was found about this pixel format.

bcp queryout using $PARTITION fails with Native Client error: Invalid Object $PARTITION

Using bcp queryout, in-line queries of the following form fail with the invalid object error on the $PARTITION keyword:

bcp "SELECT S.* FROM Support_Prod.ADSK.Session S INNER JOIN ##Session #S ON (S.SessionId = #S.SessionId AND S.LastInquiryId = #S.LastInquiryId AND $PARTITION.AdskInqPF(S.LastInquiryId) = $PARTITION.AdskInqPF(#S.LastInquiryId))" queryout I:\Data2\AdskBCPout\ADSK.Session.dat -fI:\Data2\AdskBCPout\ADSK.Session.format.xml -q -t\t -r\n -SINTDEVSQL1\DEV1 -T

Here, AdskInqPF is a well-formed partition function used to partition Support_Prod.ADSK.Session.  ##Session is a table of semi-joins derived from the former, but is not partitioned.  LastInquiryID is the partitioning key on the Session entity.

The resulting error is:

SQLState = S0002, NativeError = 208
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Invalid object name '$partition.AdskInqPF'.
SQLState = S0002, NativeError = 208
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Invalid object name '$partition.AdskInqPF'.
SQLState = 37000, NativeError = 8180
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not be prepared.

The platform is SQL Server 2008 SP1 and the bcp is
