I did an inplace upgrade of SSRS 2005 to 2008 and now the reports are throwing the following error. The reports were all working fine and there is a datasource with the name 'Data Source Name' without the '_'. Please help.
We moved our databases to new hardware today (using copy database wizard)
The new hardware should be better than the old one.
We went from 28 GB ram to 128 GB.
We went from 16 cores to 32 cores (with even more cache etc.). We also moved from external SAN with 40 disks to intern disks (8
Samsung SS805 100gb ssd slc)
According to our own metrics we could get twice the IO using IO m

We have recently converted .rdl SSRS 2005 files to SSRS 2008 .rdl files. We do not have SSRS 2008 R2, we are working with the first release. We are seeing issues when exporing a report to .pdf format:
1) when rendered in HTML, the function that displays page numbers (ie:page 1 of 2) for the report are correct. The standard function "Globals!TotalPages" is used to get the count
of pages. We previewed a report in html in reports manager that had 1777 pages. when the report is exported to .pdf the last page displays page 1777 of 1816, even though there is no more pages beyond 1777.
2)When rendering the report in html a value is shown as "Caretaker1" but when exporting to adobe .pdf version 9.3, the same value is shown as "Caretaker2".

I tried to upgrade SQL 9.00.1399.06 standard to 10.0.3798.0 standard version. Is there any known issue in upgrading 2005 to 2008 on 64 bit platform?
Any help will be greatly appreciated...
We are upgrading SQL server2005 Express to SQL Server 2008 R2. We want to replace 2005 Express with 2008 R2 on existing system. We have lots of questions about how to perform the upgrade safely and pull in our existing databases. The existing
database files are in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1. Also, we'll want to use the existing instance name to avoid having to reconfigure all of the installed clients at our user's workstations.
Should we uninstall the 2005 Express version first? Will that keep the existing databases on the system?
Will 2008 R2 use the same data folder or create a new one? If it uses the same folder will it automatically recognize our existing databases? If it creates a new one, I suppose we can use the migration Wizard.
Thanks for any help....
In an effort to do some testing prior to upgrading our environment to 2008 R2, I made a test instance on our Dev box. 2005 instance, copied as many things as I could think of from various other instances. Made a basic linked server to our main
cluster, had a repeating job to email me results of a query across that link every few hours.
Everything was working fine until the upgrade finished. It completed at ~7pm. The email at 6PM came through fine (while the upgrade was in progress), the email at 8pm didn't come through. Checked various things (DB mail was still working,
tested fine). It couldn't access the data across the linked server. I tried deleting that link and remaking it. Errors out. Tried running the same scripts we use to create our standard linked servers, error out. The only ones
that I can set up and function are links to other instances on the same box.
I've looked around at other fixes for this error message and none seem to make any difference. Log in with Domain cred's, log in with the sa account, no difference. I can connect from other instances & servers back to this one, just not outbound
from this one. And it worked prior to the upgrade I applied to it. All other instances on the box are 2005 as well.
Here is the message I ge
What would you recommend as the best way to convert our databases from SQL 2005 Express to SQL Standard which are both up and running on different servers? I'd prefer to leave the old server as-is so we can transfer one or two databases per weekend
and leave the others as-is. Would a backup and restore work when switching version, as in method one in this article?: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314546
Or would there be a better way, such as using an import?
