Error shows up in RecordSet Field's Value with status being OK

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I used ADODB to run an MDX query against a powerpivot cube. The MDX query contains a calculated MDX member as well as a calculated DAX member. This is not allowed/supported by the provider and I did expect an error. However the error showed up as a value inside the RecordSet Field's value (with the RecordSet Field's status being 0 - meaning no error occured). To be more precise, this is what shows up in the value field of the recordset:

ERROR - CALCULATION ABORTED: Query (7,3) The expression invokes an object that was defined by an MDX calculated member or script. Such objects are not supported in DAX expressions

I thought this should really be translated into a field status code or something else, not in the value field itself. This prevented me from doing proper error detection/handling.

Is this a bug or some known issue when dealing with ADODB?

SSMS 2008 - Shows Service Status as Stopped Though Service is started

Hi, I have a SQL Server 2008 - Active/Passive Cluster. The issue I am facing here is that, when I do a Failover from Node A to Node B, All the Cluster Services come online and the SQL Services are running (checked using the SQL Configuration Manager and Services console). However when I open the management studio, The Service status Indicator shows a Red Block mark against the ServerName and the SQL Server Agent. When I try connecting to the server remotely from another server, the status is displayed correctly in the SSMS(i.e the green sign with the arrow) .  This issue happens when I locally login to the server and connect using ssms. I am an Admin on both the boxes and even the service account with which the services run also has admin privileges. Any pointers? Thanks,

Persistant Status Bar Notification ... error 'SP.UI.Status' is null or not an object

I want to show a status bar that needs to be persistent on a page. for this I used the following in my master page function ShowStatusBarMessage(title, message) { var statusId = SP.UI.Status.addStatus(title, message, true); SP.UI.Status.setStatusPriColor(statusId, 'yellow'); /* Set a status-color */ } HTML, call the JS method: <a onclick="ShowStatusBarMessage('Title'!','Awesome message!')"> Display Status Bar message! </a> ref: http://www.zimmergren.net/archive/2010/03/17/sp-2010-dynamically-displaying-messages-to-your-users-with-the-notification-and-status-bar-areas-in-sharepoint-2010.aspx   But what I want is to call the function on load. So I used pushed ny function to _spBodyOnLoadWrapper using _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("YourFunctionName");, it throws an error 'SP.UI.Status' is null or not an object Next I created and deployed a webcontrol and did a registerclientscript, that too gives me 'SP.UI.Status' is null or not an object // Define the name and type of the client scripts on the page. String csname1 = "AlertScript"; Type cstype = this.GetType(); // Get a ClientScriptManager reference from the Page class. ClientScriptManager cs = Page.ClientScript; // Check to see if the startup script is already registered. if (!cs.IsStartupScriptRegistered(cstype, csname1)) {

InfoPath / ActiveX error when using person selector field in Word template off SharePoint document l

I have created an out-of-the-box document library on a SharePoint 2010 site.  I left Microsoft Word Document selected as the Document Template.  I then added a person or group column and a multiple lines of text column to the document library. I then went into Library Settings --> Advanced Settings and clicked on Edit Template, opening the template in Word.  I created my template and added the two new columns to the document.  I did this using the Quick Parts --> Document Property --> [column name] feature under the Insert tab in Word.  I then saved the template back to SharePoint. Upon opening the template or creating a new document from the template, I get the following dialog box: --------------------------- Microsoft Office InfoPath --------------------------- One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either: 1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or 2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls. As a result, the page might not display correctly. --------------------------- OK   --------------------------- I've searched around (I believe fairly extensively) and have not run into anyone else with the same issue.  Some have mentioned a similar error when creating a custom document information panel in InfoPath, and suggested lowered ActiveX security setti
