Receiving Pop3 emails?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Basically I am writing a Managment System.

One section need to read new emails and check if they are incidents that need to be inputted into the system. The emails that are incidents always look the same so I need to extract the information from the email and add it into Database as a new incident.

I have never used pop3 and so am at a loss as to how to go about this, I need to know how to recieve the mail and then some guides as to how to get the information out of the body.

I have wired an event that will call this method when a new *.eml file is created in the users mailbox, ie a new message has been received.

How do I connect to a POP3 server and extract information from the body?

Thanks in Advance. (It seems there are no DOT.Net functions to do this)

How do I get the emails of all the members of a given group in ActiveDirectory - Need help

  I have a need to send out emails to all the people who are in a given group say "HR Department". I need to be able to get all the emails through a for loop and then as it retrieves I should send emails to them. Can some one please help me with the code

this is what I came up with but not sure how to go about writing a for loop to get all the emails in the given group.

public static string SendEmails(string loginName)
        string Department = "HR Department"
        string userName = ExtractUserName(loginName);
        DirectorySearcher search = new DirectorySearcher();
        search.Filter = String.Format("(SAMAccountName={0})", userName);
        //search.Filter = String.Format("(SAMAccountName={FAY ImprovmentForm})", userName);
        //LdapSearcher.Filter = string.Format("(&(objectClass=user)(department={0}))", Department);
        //search.Filter = string.Format("(&(objectClass=group)(SAMAccountName=" + Department + "))", userName);

SPD workflow, emails sent for one user, not for the other

Good day,

I have a SPD workflow (WSS/2007) that take a date field from a document list and when that date occurs it sends an email.  If the date is in the past, it will send the email out right away.  It is working fine for one user, not for another.  Both users have the same permissions.  The workflow goes as follows:

ACTION: Set Variable: vTermdate to DocumentsNotificationDate
       then log Documents:Email Date to the workflow history list

CONDITION: if Variable: vTermdate is not Empty
ACTION: Log term not empty to the workflow history list

CONDITION: if Variable: vTermdate is Empty
ACTION: Set Variable: vTermdate to N/A

ACTION: Add 0 minutes to Documents:Email Date (out to

Users not receiving alerts

At some point over the last 2 weeks, the alert functionality in our MOSS 2007 environment stopped working.  Users will receive the "You have setup a new alert" email when configuring a new Alert, but not any actual alerts when an item is added/changed.  I investigated the Timer Service on the front end web server and noticed it was Stopped.  I restarted the Service and some of the users received upwards of 200 backlogged alerts.

I can understand why the user received so many alerts, these would be the alerts that SHOULD have been sent over the last 2 weeks.  I just wanted to make sure that this is normal behavior.  If the service fails, then the alert emails are set to a type of "pending" status until the service is restarted?  Is this accurate or am I misunderstanding something.

Email enabld list delay on recieving emails

So the situation is, i have a list, that receives emails from a particular account all day long, recently it has started recieving emails "late" being it will mass process emails at various times of the day. Before it proccessed them as soon as they were received.

Event log shows

A critical error occurred while processing the incoming e-mail file C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Drop\e472144001cb44a40000001e.eml. The error was: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Drop\e472144001cb44a40000001e.eml' because it is being used by another process..

Have this error everywhere.

.net 3.5 in conjunction with CRM 4.0 email router adding code to subject line of emails causing spam

We use CRM 4.0, which is using .net framework 3.5 SP 1.  Emails sent out of CRM go through and email router and the subject line of these emails is getting "=?us-ascii?Q? added to the beginning of the subject line and "?= added to the end of the subject line. This is causing a large amount of our emails getting spammed. I was told by the CRM support that this is an issue with .net 3.5 and won't be fixed until .net 4.0, which CRM won't support for another year.  Is there not a .net 3.5 patch that can address this?

Issues regarding sockets (stopping receiving packets).

Hello, I've created a server for my game, but for some unknown reason the server (most likely) stops receiving packets while the client still tries to send them. I've tried to use a couple examples from MSDN, but it still just stops receiving. This is what I think that happens: Client connects to server Server sends packets as response Client responds to those packets Server sends a lot of packets (one packet at a time) Client tries to send packet, but it kinda fails (it does send packets though!) Server waits (doesn't get any packet anymore) Client triggers timeout code on the server side and gets disconnected from the server Does anyone have an idea how and why this can happen? Here are the receive functions I use: BeginReceive (SocketInfo includes data such as amount of data to receive, state of packet (header or content) and the buffer) public void BeginReceive(SocketInfo socketInfo) { if (mDisconnected != 0) return; try { args = new SocketAsyncEventArgs(); args.Completed += (s, a) => EndReceive(a); args.UserToken = socketInfo; args.SetBuffer(socketInfo.DataBuffer, socketInfo.Index, socketInfo.DataBuffer.Length - socketInfo.Index); if (args != null) { try { if (!Socket.ReceiveAsync(args)) EndReceive(args); } catch (ObjectDisposedException) { Disconnect(); return; }

Duplicate emails are being sent

Hello I am using SPutility.SendEmail method to send the email to the particular recipient internally using case statement. I mean depending on the dropdown selection I am sending email by making the selected values in case statement. Here the issue is the users are complaining that they are getting multiple emails for the same request. When I checked in my dev server the flow of the code is normal but not the same case with prod. The following is the code. case "mycase":                             {                                 StringDictionary headers = new StringDictionary();                                 headers.Add("from", fromemail);                                 headers.Add("to",   toemail);

All Users (Including Site Collection Admins) receiving Access Denied from one Site Collection

I usually spend my time in the forums answering questions.  But this time I need the help. I’ve got a client who somehow has succeeded in locking EVERYONE out of one of their Site Collections.  Users can authenticate to the site, but get an accessdenied page when you try to access anything in the site collection, including pages served from the _Layouts virtual directory.  The AccessDenied page shows that they are authenticated, but not authorized.  This is true for Site Collection admins and user’s who have been given Grant Full Control via a Web Application Permission Policy.  Central Admin and one other site collection are behaving normally.  I've already checked for database permissions - the service account can access the database fine. I've also checked for a locked database or overextended quota.  It's not that either. The accessdenied page url references the users list in the root of the site collection as the offending list denying access.   Does anyone have any ideas?Paul Stork SharePoint Server MVP

Making and receiving calls using e Diva Component API

Programs and scripts can use the Component API in either 'blocking' or 'non-blocking' mode. The following examples use 'blocking' mode because this is the simplest. For more complex scripts and applications 'non-blocking' mode can make it easier to create programs that can cope with unforeseen sequences of events or errors.
See the section 'Handling multiple calls' for more information.

We can create the DivaCall object directly here because we are handling only one call; if we were creating more than one DivaCall object then we would have to use DivaSystem and DivaInstance and the DivaCall objects would be created using the CreateCall method of DivaInstance.

To make a call
The following code makes a call with Connect , plays the wave file with SendVoiceFile when the call is answered and Disconnects.

Receiving a message that was sent using HTTP POST

Hello helpers,   I'm somewhere between a beginner and intermediate asp.net and c# user who is looking to receive a message/variable and then URL decode it. The message is being sent via HTTP post. I'm not sure exactly how to get started, and am looking for a tutorial but haven't been able to find one. Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me some sample code to learn from? Thank you for your time

Best Way to Send Multiple Emails

I'm building a website that allows users to post comments. When they do, they can check a box that indicates if they want an email notification when someone else posts a comment under the same topic. (Similar to this web site.)This means when a comment is posted, the code has to send an email to all the subscribed users.My concern is about what happens when many users are subscribed to a topic. There is a short delay when sending an email. Sending dozens or potentially even hundreds could really cause a delay.Right now, I just loop through each user and send the emails one by one. Does anyone know if that's the best way?Thanks!

Sending Asynchronous emails from Asp.Net Web pages

Hey Guys, Here is my situation and hopefully someone could guide me in the right direction. I have a shared or static class in my website (App_Code folder) which has static methods to send emails asychronoulsy. So whenever there is an exception in any of my pages or classes I call these methods to send an email to support asynchronously. Now when there is an exception in a page, to route that exception asynchronously I need to have Async = "true" for that page. I have more than 50 pages and I don't want to set Async= "true" on every page as I read that it affects performance. So I was wondering if there is any way I could send emails asynchronously without having to set async = "true" on every page. Thanks for your time,   Uday.

Posting form data and receiving a response

Hey everyone,I have an application that needs to post data to a url on the web and then receive an xml response.  I have an HTML form (provided by vendor) that posts the data correctly, however when clicking the submit button the page is redirected to the post url and the xml is displayed in the browser.  I need to do this on a postback within an existing asp.net project.  Basically, the user will fill out the form, the form data will post to the url, the xml response will be received, and the appropriate values will be displayed on the screen. I've found a bunch of examples for doing this but I just can't seem to get my head around it.  Can anyone point me in the right direction or explain how I should go about this?  Thanks for your help!Will
