Can someone explain this to me in layman's terms?

How do I require a multiple of a type of expression (e.g. 2 uppers, 2 lowers, etc.) for password com

I read the pinned post on this forum for password complexity and tried to adapt it to my needs but can't seem to force the requirement of no length, 2 upper, 2 lower, 2 specials, and 2 numbers in the regex:

Started with from the forum post:

And tried:

...but can't seem to get it to work.  As you can see, I've just duplicated the expression I'm trying to use to match the different categories twice to try and get the desired affect of enforcing a 2x match.  The pattern should match things like:

How to Encrypt and Decrypt a Password using SQLSERVER 2005?(Video)

Encypt and Decrypt a Password using SQLSERVER 2005(Video)

symmetric key protected by a password

An alternative could be using a symmetric key protected by a password, as long as your application generates the CREATE SYMMETRIC KEY and OPEN SYMMETRIC KEY statements directly instead of calling them inside a SP (otherwise the password will still be passed as a parameter, and will be in clear in the profiler).

Use Membership but bypass / disable password usage for users

I have an application that does LDAP authentication. The authentication is done on the code behind page of my Login.aspx page. Once the user passes LDAP authentication, a cookie is set and I redirect:

FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(UserName.Text, False)

I would like to setup membership in my application and keep track of some user information. But due to company security requirements, I cannot store user passwords on my application. That must stay on the LDAP server only.

Is there a way to store users but disable password storage on the aspnet_membership table?

In my last column I introduced Password Minder, the tool I use to manage all of my passwords. It generates a long, random password for each site I visit, and makes it possible for me to use the most complex passwords possible, without ever having to see the actual password material or type it in manually.

Hanselminutes Podcast 227 - Inside Expression SuperPreview with developer Mike Calvo

Scott talks to Mike Calvo, a Microsoft Lead Developer based out of Minnesota (!) about Expression SuperPreview. SuperPreview helps developers and designers with cross-browser CSS and HTML issues. How'd they build it and with what? What's inside? How does the cloud fit in and how do they support Safari? I played with SuperPreview a bit last year, but started looking at it again last month when I noticed that version 4 has introduced support for Safari on Mac via a Cloud-based Remote Service. I fired up Expression SuperPreview 4, and saw this: Then I signed up: Which enabled Mac Safari for this initial beta. I assume they'll add a pile of other browsers. If I don't see immediate browser support for ALynx, the Amiga port of Unix...(read more)
