.Net Framework SDK 2.0 configuration tool

New to this and lost.

I download the Microsoft .Net Framework SDK 2.0  as it says in the book (I think). But I cannot find the configuration tool or the Mscorcfg.msc file so I don't know what I have done wrong.
Desperate for the kindness of strangers.

NET Framework Configuration Tool (Mscorcfg.msc) in .Net 3.5

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate OS with .Net 3.5. I am also studying for MCTS Exam - 70-536 which has the NET Framework Configuration Tool (Mscorcfg.msc) in its syllabus. I could not find this tool on searching. How do I use this tool.

Are You in the Know?: Find Out What's New with Code Access Security in the .NET Framework 2.0

Unlike role-based security measures, code access security is not based on user identity. Instead, it is based on the identity of the code that is running, including information such as where the code came from. Here Mike Downen discusses the role of code access security (CAS) in .NET and outlines some key new features and changes in CAS for the .NET Framework 2.0.

Debugging Tool: Build a Logging and Event Viewing Library to Help Debug Your .NET Framework-based Ap

Building a basic, reusable application framework can make development quicker and easier. This allows you to focus more on the problems at hand and less on the repetitive tasks involved in building any application. In this article, the author presents a framework that provides facilities to access the registry and an extensible framework for logging messages to a console window or the Event Viewer. This reusable framework can be included as a library in your projects, allowing you to display an enhanced, color-coded message log and dynamically change logging levels.

Configuration Tool

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and I'm trying to think of the best way to implement my first dynamic website. I've noticed the ASP.NET Configuration tool and it seems quite useful but I have a few questions:

1. Can this page be accessed when the website goes live or is it best to make your own?

2. Can this tool handle custom SQL databases or must everything be built into the default one?

3. Can this tool be setup for local use initially and then changed for the hosting server details later on?

The website I'm build will have user account features, with a news and articles section which the user will be able to interact with. So I need to create a database to handle this. However I don't know whether to completely ignore this tool and just make everything custom or try and incorporate that into the ASP.NET Configuration tool. Also, if everything is made custom can you still use the membership tool in visual studio? Thanks for any help :)

Error with ASP.NET Configuration Tool

I'm trying to make an MVC 2 site, and I've run into a bit of a snag.  I want to add user roles to my system via the configuration tool, but every time I click the Security tab I get the following error:

"There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Could not load type 'HandiGamer.MvcApplication'."

When I click on the 'Choose Data Store' button, it tells me I'm already using AspNetSqlProvider.

I have a .mdf file for the rest of the site's db, but didn't make any tables for membership as I thought all of that would be handled by the configuration tool.

Am I missing a step?

Framework 4.0 dll loaded by a 2.0 executable cannot find "xxxx.resources.dll"

Hello, I have an interesting situation here that I was hoping someone may be able to give some pointers on.  First my application is all provided within a class library assembly so that it can be loaded by multiple hosts.  We are investigating moving to Visual Studio 2010 and the .Net Framework 4.0 for some of the new features.  However, one of our hosts is a 2.0 click once application that we do not have the source to.  I've tried modifying the config file for the executable to add the useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy with the 4.0 as the supported runtime and setting loadFromRemoteSources as suggested by a Google search and that came close to working.  However, depending on the workflow through our client code is giving a System.IO.FileNotFoundException for various references. The message associated with the exception is Could not load file or assembly 'file:///XXXXXX.resources.dll' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."  Were the XXXXX changes and the .dll may or may not be present depending on whether Assembly.Load or Assembly.LoadFrom was used to perform the load.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. [Addition: I forgot to mention that our app originally targeted Framework 3.5SP1] Michael Fischer

Where can I find Javascript .NET Framework Reference?

I have been Googling for hours to find a reference to methods and properties in Objects in the .NET framework using Javascript in ASP.

I can see from examples that properties are not spelled the same when accesing from C# in code behind and in Javascript. And it seems like the avaiable methods and events are not the same in C# and Javascript.

Does any one know where I can find such a reference?

Thank you!

Cannot find custom tool 'SharePointWebPartCodeGenerator' on this system.

When trying to make a change to a web page in a Web Part when I complete the change and attempt to save the ascx file this error shows up as a warning in the Visual Studio 2010 Error List.  When I deploy the Web Part nothing has changed.  I am assuming it is due to this error.  The question here is how does this, the SharePointWebPartCodeGenerator, get installed?  I already uninstalled and reinstalled SharePoint 2010 Server and the SharePoint SDK.

Cannot hibernate machine due to Microsoft.NET Framework v1.1.4322 update and cannot find AntiVir etc

I have checked previous replies that suggest clicking Start, Run and typing msconfig and going in to the services tab.  AntiVir Personal Edition Classic Schedule does not appear in the list.  What else can I try please, this is really irritating.

Problem with ASP.Net Configuration tool

I'm trying to use the ASP.NET Configuration tool under the Website menu in VS2005.  When I click on the Security tab (or link) I get 'Unable to connect to SQL Server database'

Clearly the application cannot connect to my database, but I'm not familiar enough with the tools to figure out how to fix it.  I searched the ASP.NET forums for a solution and and Googled it loads but am still stuck.

I'm running SQLServer 2000 and SQLServer 2008.  I have run the cmd line tool aspnet_regsql -W and followed the wizard to create/configure the aspnetdb on both instances in turn as I have been troubleshooting.

From one tutorial I was following I had a connection string in my web.config file that was incorrect - I made it point to the SQL Server instance I was targetting (2008) but no joy.  Then I followed another tutorial video and there was no connection string at all but the tool still ran, so I deleted it.

Being that this is such a basic step I'm pretty frustrated to have been stuck here for so long and would really appreciate some help.

Many thanks
