problem while installing microsoft chart add-on for visual studio

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

When I tried to install chart add-on for visual studio it was asking for microsoft chart controls to be installed as a pre requisite.

Then I installed .net framwork 3.5 sp1 and installed microsoft chart add-on for visual studio

but microsoft chart control add-on for visual studio is asking for .net framework 3.5 to be installed as a prerequisite.

But if I install .net framework 3.5 i cant install microsoft chart controls because it requires .net framework 3.5 sp1.

Can anyone help me to resolve this issue please.

Problem installing SQL 2008 Tools with Visual Studio 2008 Team System Suite

I'm setting-up my development environment on a new laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I installed Visual Studio Team System (MSDN disk 4405)  and then VS 2008 SP1. These installed without error.

Next I installed SQL Express 2008, but had a problem with running the standard install from www.microsoft.com/express/sql/download - message stating that SQL 2008 with Tools was incompatable with SQL 2005 (which was installed as part of the VSTS 2008 install - instance SQLEXPRESS). Therefore, I used the custom install link on this webpage to install SQL Express 2008 with SP1 - X64. I selected the 'New Standalone Instal or Add Features' and it completed without error - instance MSSQLSERVER2008. I selected the install with SP1 because this seemed to be required for a PC with VS 2008 installed (see other threads), hoping that it would be possible to install the tools later. However, when I came to install the SQL Express 2008 Tools (custom install page install SQL Express 2008 with Tools) I hit the following problems:

1. I got message stating that there was a compatability issue which required me to run SQL 2008 SP1 after the install - funny, I had just installed SQL 2008 SP1!

Ignoring the message, I proceeded with the install sel

crystal report -visual studio 2008 dual axis chart (bar & line)

dear all,

i use crystal report integrated with  vs.2008, and i want to make chart with dual axis (bar & line).

i have used bar chart and input the data with 2 values..

then in chart options > template, i activated the dual axis..

my question is, how i can change the 2nd value with line chart not bar chart??

i'd tried to find the right settings in "chart options" but still can't find the solution.

for information in "chart options" there are 4 sub menu : template, general,titles,grid..

i read in a tutorial there's more sub menu called "series" in crystal report (stand alone version)..

is it possible doing it in Crystal Report VS. 2008?

please,, i need your advice and solution..

Thanx before..

Office 2003: Secure and Deploy Business Solutions with Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office

Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System is a new technology that brings the advanced features of Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework to applications built for Microsoft Office Word 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003. Deploying solutions built with this technology requires that you understand how runtime security is enforced in managed applications and how to configure users' systems to run your solutions without introducing security holes. To promote that understanding, this article will demonstrate how to establish trust, explain policy considerations and permissions, and explain what trusted code is all about. Secure assembly deployment is also covered in detail.

Visual Studio designer event problem

Hi there

I have a small issue that I'm sure others have experienced - but haven't yet found a solution / workaround for this.

When adding controls to Visual Studio in designer you normally get a event button (the yellow flash light) in the properties window.

But when you nest a button inside a placeholder (for example) you cannot mark the button from the designer - only the placeholder! When trying to go into "split-view" on the designer you'll be able to mark the button in the bottom of the designer - but only properties and not the event button appers in the properties window!

I know that you can go into codebehind and manually add the event but I thiink it is really tiresome to do so if I don't have to...

I had a small hope that VS2010 the issue would be gone but sadly it isn't...

Anyone ever found a solution for this one?

Kind regards Thomas

Visual Studio: Microsoft should simplify producing quality software

I am looking at features of different versions of Visual Studio and I less and less understand how and why is the quality of software handled as fun of few seasoned professionals. Although Visual Studio is best development platform I have ever seen I really don't understand why Microsoft hates people who want to provide quality to their customers. Usually n00bs and start-ups start with minimum versions to get their work done. Many of them start with some version of Visual Studio Express or cheapest one of the full versions. These products have this far caused me hell load of problems because specially n00bs have no way how to control or measure the quality of their work. n00bs make also a lot of stupid mistakes and they need some way to rollback those mistakes. And don't forget how many other mistakes n00bs can make. Now let's put it all together and see how hard is for n00bs to get started their professional life on Visual Studio. No advanced debugging - there is IntelliTrace but not for guys who need it at first years almost every day. They have to waste their and their seniors time to get mysteries solved. I need IntelliTrace rarely because usually stack trace of Exception is enough for me. But I have seen n00bs who try to debug their applications using only message part of exceptions. IntelliTrace is only available with Visual Studio Ultimate. No versioning suppor

Visual Studio 2010, MVC2.0, IIS7, .NET4 deployment problem

I have a problem where I can get an MVC2.0 application using .NET3.5 running in IIS, but when I upgrade it to .NET4.0, the browser just reports error 500 Internal Server Error. The problem is easy to replicate as follows.  Firstly, to show it works with .NET3.5: Create a new MVC2.0 application in Visual Studio 2010, using the inbuilt starter template. Run the application using the development server, and the Home & About pages display fine. Publish the application to a directory. Copy the directory to a subdirectory under inetpub/wwwroot on my Vista computer, running IIS7 Create a new application in IIS Manager & select the DefaultAppPool (integrated pipeline) Browse the application and Home & About pages are displayed. Then the problem I have is after upgrading to .NET4.0: Change to .NET4.0 for the project in Visual Studio Build & this runs fine with the development server. Publish the application & set up IIS as before, except choosing the application pool ASP.NET v4.0 (integrated pipeline) Browse the application, and I get the 500 Internal Server Error I'm guessing there is some extra configuration required - can anyone help? I've deliberately used the default MVC installation to eliminate any variables caused by my programming .. Thanks in advance, Steve

Error code -2068578304 When Installing Express SP1 x64 as a Part of Visual Studio 2010 Installation

Howdy! I was installing the VS 2010 on my server running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and all of a sudden the setup finished with " Setup completed, however, there were failures reported installing optional components. " The final status is success. The left-hand pane of the finish page reads as: The following component failed to install: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64).   Leaving alone the fact why setup executed the custom action that tried to install SQL Server Express Edition and Compact Edition when I just asked it to install SQL components (which presumably should be SQL SMO and DMO libraries), I would like to understand what had happed to Express install.   Inspecting the .\Logs\dd_error_vs_vstdcore_100.txt file gives the following record:   [09/16/10,16:06:51] Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64): [2] Error code -2068578304 for this component is not recognized. problem with visual studio 2008 databases

Hi, I'm new to VS 2008. And as a uni project, we had to create a doctor surgery databases as a group. However, when one of my group member sent me part of her work and when I tried to open it in my VS 2008, I failed to open the database she created. The error was :    " [the database] cannot be opened because it is version 655. This server supports version 612 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported." I did some research on the Internet and found out that I have SQL server 2005 installed and my friend is probably using SQL server 2008. So I download the SQL server 2008 from the Internet and it was successfully installed in my computer. So now I have both SQL server 2005 and 2008. However when I tried to open the database again, another error occured saying : "This server version is not supported. Only server up to MS sql server 2005 are supported." again I did some research on the Internet and people are saying I have to install the SQL server 2008 SP1 for it to work. But when I'm about to proceed to the installing process, an error appear saying: "there are no sql server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer". Now I really have no idea what to do... I've been trying to open that database for like 10 hours, and it still won't work. Can anyone please help.
