encoding function parameters and return values when binaryMessageEncoding is used

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

Dear All,

I'm creating simple web service that will accept some parameters (such as customer name and file name) and return content of an xml file as a string and WS client will save it on his side. I'm using custom binding with binaryMessageEncoding and httpTransport. The question is if it is possible to have these input parameters as well as returned xml content binary encoded somehow?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am trying to create a function that  return the number part within / / from a url if exist:

For exmple:

http://www.mydomain.com/Mobile_Exec/1234/Orange_revamps_business_website.aspx SHOULD RETURN "\1234\"

http://www.mydomain.com/News/Orange_revamps_business_website.aspx    SHOULD RETURN "\\"

http://www.mydomain.com/News/Features/627362/Orange_revamps_business_website.aspx SHOULD RETURN "\627362\"

I prefer if possible to use regular expression. Any help would be really appreciated.

Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytes) return string with not expected

Example   byte[] bytes = {  0x36,0x92,0x30,0x94}; string rs=  Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytes) ; //result rs = ?60?   Is Wrong Result; Result Right is     '60". So this function should fix to properly decode two symbols ' and " Code ASCII ' is 0x92,Code ACII for " is  0x94

Optional Parameters - Not taking values when supplied

All, I have a report that takes 2 optional parameters, one int and one datetime. My data tab is set up as follows: CommandType = Text, Parameters has Parameters.Value etc. for both. Report Parameters are allowed NULL value, Default Value is NULL, datatypes are Integer and Datetime as well. This only runs when the parameters are not supplied values, when I enter a date, it does not take it into account, same for the int value. I have run the proc manually to verify that the query is set up correctly, it seems like the values are not being passed? Any help debugging this would be helpful. Thanks.

Writing Webservice return values to table within SQL CLR

Visual Studio 2010/Sql Server 2005/ .net 3.5/ C# I have compiled and created assemblies and all works fine when all I do is .pipe.send.   I have changed it now to capture the values in local parameters so I can write to a sql table on the same server.  I have the connection to the database and the table created.  The code compiles fine but when I run it from sql I get the following error.  The code follows the error.   Msg 6522, Level 16, State 1, Procedure CventSP, Line 0 A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate "CventSP": System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Incorrect syntax near '@eventtitle'. Scalar Function Variable length return value

Would like to write a Scalar Function that returns a variable length string of spaces. Length being determined by an input parameter (int) Maybe I am missing the obvious but it seems impossible because you have to declare the size  of the varchar return variable I know there is a performance hit using scalar functions but we are generating a view that emulates an old fixed file format with lots of unused fields. So it will make the resultant view readable. So I am looking to do select goodfield1,fnSpace(5) as Unusedfield1,goodfield2,fnSpace(10)... from MyView thanks Bob

Binding Bool values using SQLBindParameter() function

Hi, I have a bool variable in my C++ code, I am bounding it as shown below: SQLPOINTER cbNULL = SQL_NULL_DATA; m_nReturnValue = SQLBindParameter(m_pHstmt,ColumnSequence,SQL_PARAM_INPUT,SQL_C_BIT, SQL_BIT,1,0,&pBool,0,&cbNull); issue is when *pBool = 1 (true),the values of binded parameters works fine but in case of *pBool = 0(false), it binds the value as 1 again. I cannot catch its reason why it is binding 1 instead of 0. Can someone please help me for this how to bind the bool variable which has values as 0(false).? Cheers!!! Vatsa

Return linq query in function

I try to return a var query from a function, but i'll get the error: Error:Error 41 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<AnonymousType#1>' to 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<System.Xml.XmlElement>'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?)  Code: protected static IEnumerable<XmlElement> GetModels(byte MerkID) { string rawXML = AutoDisk.GetModels(12345, true, MerkID, "2010", ""); XmlDocument xml = new XmlDocument(); xml.LoadXml(rawXML); var query = from feed in xml.DocumentElement.ChildNodes.Cast<XmlNode>() select new { nModelID = feed.SelectSingleNode("nModelID").InnerText, Modelnaam = feed.SelectSingleNode("Modelnaam").InnerText }; return query; } Whats wrong and how can i make this working ?

Fileupload with database parameters that need to return nothing on update

Hi All, Got a problem with regards to the file upload control on database updates. The problem is in my CMS, when a user tries to update content for a page it will add null to the fields containing the image path. What I need is for the system to check if the uploader has no image and if hasn't it has to do nothing. It can't add empty strings or null values as this will remove the original image path. Although they still need to be able to do image updates if the uploader has a file(this bits not a problem). Heres a snipet of code to demonstrate what I'm trying to achieve. protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Page.IsPostBack) { AddMenu menu = new AddMenu(); string APP_PATH = Server.MapPath(Common.GetAppSetting("_MENU_PATH")); if (FileUpload1.HasFile == false) { menu.Menu_Image1 = /////// Its this bit that has to do nothing //// Menu_Image1 calls a Parameter on the data layer /// Ie cmd.Parameters.AddwithValue("@image", _menu_image1) } else if (FileUpload1.HasFile) { if (FileUpload1.PostedFile != null && FileUpload1.PostedFile.ContentLength > 0) { Uploa

Error: "Select statements included within a function cannot return data to a client"

hi all, Not sure if there is an easier way to do this but this is my first ever Function I created so far. I am getting the error: "Select statements included within a function cannot return data to a client" All I am trying to do is ...if the date is NOT passed then apply NULL as the default value and run the SELECT statement. If the date IS NOT null then run a different SELECT statement. CREATE FUNCTION [SchemaTest].[fn_Test] ( @instance as uniqueidentifier ,@date as datetime = null ) RETURNS varchar(8000) AS BEGIN If (@date is null) --@date = null ?? Begin Select * From Uds.RealtimeLogging Where instanceID = @instance End Else Begin Select * From Uds.RealtimeLogging Where instanceID = @instance and [timeStamp] > @date End Return @stepIds END Thank you!JCD

function or query to return continuous span of months $ years as rows in query

I am using SS2008.

There are many situations in which I need to return a table where the rows are EVERY calendar month between two dates, not just the months where there is data present.

Is there a function that would take a beginning and end date mmddyyyy which would do this?

For example if I wanted 1/2004 through 8/2010?

and so on to

Thanks in advance,

Simple return value from WebMethod from Ajax function using JQuery

I have an Ajax function called from JQuery that goes to a webservice to return a value.  I need a SIMPLE example on how I can do this.  I've been going nuts with serializing and every other aspect of this topic.

I need to return either an ArrayList with ONE string field or a DataTable of some kind.  Either way, I'm populating it into a DropDownList.

I'm willing to consider alternatives to this idea. (Background info - I get a value from a textbox and I need to run it through a DB to get an associated value or set of values).  I'm being really general so that someone can show a simple example.  Thanks.

Getting VP.NET code to respond to SQL Return values and Error Codes

I have SQL stored procedures that will return values depending on the outcome of its execution. I have the following code at the end of each of my Stored Procedures:

RETURN @siReturnValue

It would be great to be able to use this Return value after running the Stored Procedures from my VB.NET code. I have included an example of how I am running SQL Stored Procedures below:

Public Function SearchKeyword(ByVal SearchString As String) As Data.DataTable
        Dim AerialConnection = New SqlConnection(System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("aerialConnectionString").ConnectionString)
        Dim MediaArchive As New Data.DataTable
        Dim reader As SqlDataReader
Dim SelectMediaArchiveCommand = New SqlCommand("EXEC spSearch @keywords", AerialConnection)
            SelectMediaArchiveCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("keywords", SearchString)
            reader = SelectMediaArchiveCommand.ExecuteReader()
        Catch e As Exception
        End Try
        Return MediaArchive
    End Function

How can I code this to respond to different Return values, or even error cod
