Target Audience in Share Point 2010

Hi there, We've managed to migrate  MOSS 2007 to MOSS 2010 for one of our customer. Everything went well except Target Audience. Sharepoint2010 does not seem to recognise the AD groups and no matter how many times I reset them, I see the error of "No exact match found". Appreciate if someone can advice.   Thanks.

MOSS 2010 Issue with Target Audience

Hi there, We've managed to migrate  MOSS 2007 to MOSS 2010 for one of our customer. Everything went well except Target Audience. Sharepoint2010 does not seem to recognise the AD groups and no matter how many times I reset them, I see the error of "No exact match found". Here is the scenario : Application pool user has necessary rights as MOSS able to find AD groups. However, once MOSS locates AD groups and after we assign relevant AD group to a particular web part, save the web part and if I happen to edit the web part then we found ""No exact match found" in the Target Audience. One more thing, this behaviour is happening only for HOME page. For this reason, we tried to recreate the entire webpage, but the issue ""No exact match found" still remains.   Kindly advice. Thanks

Programmatically add target audience field

I have a list I'm creating on the fly and also creating the fields for that list... I have created a HTML filed like so:

 HtmlField htmlField = new HtmlField(pollsList.Fields, "HTML", "HTML_Field");
      field = (SPField)pollsList.Fields.GetField("HTML_Field");
      field.DefaultValue = " ";
      field.Description = "Short text field can add link to discussions";

What I cannot seem to find any help with is how can I create the Target Audience field for the list???

How do I set the target audience using Sharepoint Designer workflow

I need to set the target audience in a list based on a column called "DocType" Im hoping I can do this using a workflow as Ive been getting to grips using the workflow designer lately.

I have tried setting an Initiation with the default string being the target audience group, then set the target audience field to be the initiation value

This does send the string to my list but only if I edit the list and validate the target audience address

Does anyone know how I can validate the audience address using the workflow designer~?

Many thanks in advance

Content Query Webpart Missing Content Type and Approval Status

I'm a great fan o the CQWP , and love the changes made in 2010 on this webpart. What bothers me is that I use to Filter Documents by Approval Status, thus showing Draft or Pending Documents and Group these by their Content Type.

Both these were available in 2007, but removed from 2010 CQWP. Any idea why, or how to bring this back? sample or URL guidance would be great. My gut feeling is custom XSLT but id like to confirm this first.

Thx a lot

BDC WebPart Connections Missing

We have lost the "Connections" menuitem in the "edit" drop-down list box which is on the toolbar for a BDC WebPart. Enterprise features are all still activated. This had been working fine but suddenly disappeared and we don't know why.

Any ideas?

SharePoint group name duplicacy causing issues in target audience

We are editing the target audience property of a document in a library. We have multiple SharePoint groups like the following

In PeoplePicker, both the above groups are found. If I select the first one, and come back we get Found No Matches and it tells that more than one group are present. If I select one of them and save, when I come back to check via view properties, the Target Audience property is blank.

This kind of problem is present in many internet posts, but I did not see any clear resolution. Is it a result of any recent windows patch?

Sharepoint Shared Documents webpart "go to parent folder" button missing

I'm trying to find a way to move to parent folder inside Shared Documents webpart .

In this tutorial it's only mentioned the SharePoint-wide UP button, but is there a way to move to parent folder (of the document library, of course) inside the non-maximized Shared Documents webpart?

Thank you

Status List WebPart or KPIListWebPart missing when create sites based in a site template that has it

Hi Everyone,

I have a site collection in SharePoint server 2010, and within this site collection I have a site. This site has KPIListWebPart or Status List WebPart. I have added this WebPart through SPD 2010, because through SharePoint you cannot add this particular WebPart.

The problem is the following:

The site (with the Status List WebPart) has to be a Site Template, in order to allow the users to create sites as needed. In the site, the Status List WebPart works perfectly, but when I create a new site based in the site template, the Status List WebPart is missing.

Any idea why is it happening?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Editing the Data in a GridView

In addition to deleting a GridView's underlying data, another common need is to allow end users to edit the data displayed in a GridView. With ASP.NET 1.x's DataGrid control, editing the data is certainly possible, but requires creating three event handlers and writing a dozen or so lines of code. With the GridView and ASP.NET 2.0, it is possible to create an editable GridView without writing a single line of code! All of the necessary functionality is encapsulated within the GridView.

The GridView allows editing on a row-by-row basis. An editable GridView contains an additional column with an Edit button in each row. When the end user clicks on an Edit button that row becomes editable, causing the Edit button to change to Update and Cancel buttons and the other columns to become TextBoxes. The end user can then update one or more column values and click Update to save their changes.

How Do I Enable Inline GridView Editing?

Now that you have created a site with Edit and Details views, how do you enable inline editing in a GridView control? This video shows you how, and also touches on routing.

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010

If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.

Gridview with a dropdown list for editing

Hello. I am working through Scott Mitchell's ASP.Net in 24 hours book. I am finishing the photo album project.

I have a GridView that retrieves a list of uploaded photo rows for the logged-in user.
The GridView is for editing and deleting rows.

The photo Category field in the Gridview is a dropdown list. The text entry field was deleted after converting this field to a Template.

Like the uploaded photos, these Categories are user-specific. They are created in another web page.

Users also have the option to select "none" for the category when they upload an image.

For the GridView:  The Category ID field's ItemTemplate and EditItemTemplate both have a " - None - " choice added to them.

I am getting this error:

'pictureReadOnlyCategories' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value

Note: The ID for the ItemTemplate for that dropdown list is the ID listed above in the error: "pictureReadOnlyCategories".

Am I missing some step in this process of changing a GridViews text field to a dropdown that can be used for editing? I went through the book's instructions three times.

Here is my code for the dropdown list and a screenshot of the Design
