Issues while exporting & importing. Changes don't reflect after import.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi, we have a SharePoint 2010 site collection.

We have made changes to one of the subsite where the welcome page is pointing to a different file and this change reflects fine in the original site.

Now I export this site collection and import into a new site collection. After importing into new site collection, I see that the welcome page of the subsite still points to the old file and not to the new file, eventhough the new file is present under site pages. Also the changes are checked in to the original site before exporting.

stsadm.exe -o export -url http://server/sites/site1 -filename "D:\Sharepoint Deployment\Site1.cab" -includeusersecurity -versions 4 -overwrite

stsadm.exe -o createsite -url http://chnmct117100d/sites/site2 -ownerlogin domain\user -owneremail user@domain.com

stsadm.exe -o import -url http://server/sites/site2 -filename "D:\Sharepoint Deployment\Site1.cab" -includeusersecurity

Has anybody faced this issue before? Any idea of a possible solution ?

Importing issues

Hi All,

We are currently running SP2010.

I am trying to use stsadm to import a site collection (template was blank site) to a new web application with a blank site collection on it on a new WFE server.

I then receive the following error. Could not find Feature S2SiteAdmin

When i did some research about this, i kept finding that i need to install Office Server infrastructure, so i tried doing so and received the message that this does not apply to my system.

Can anyone please assist me?

Thank you,

Web Parts zones are empty after exporting and Importing Personal Web Package

  1. I exported a site to a Personal Web Package using SharePoint Designer 2007 after expanding all the directories in Designers folder list that I wanted to copy from.
  2. I created an empty site collection using SharePoint Central Administration.
  3. I imported the Personal Web Package into the empty site collection.
  4. I corrected all the hard-coded links.
  5. I set the default.master to be the default master.
  6. When I opened the site all of the web part zones that had been filled by custom-made web parts whether they were pageviewer webparts, dataview webparts or image webparts, were empty.  Only those webpart zones that were included by default like those on non-customized DispForm and NewForm pages contained any webparts.
  7. I have been informed that this is not the way that this tool is supposed to behave.

Import XML File to SQL Table

Here is a brief example of importing an XML file into SQL Server table. This is accomplished by using the BULK option of OPENROWSET to load the file, and then utilizing the XQuery capabilities of SQL Server to parse the XML to normalized table format. This example requires SQL server 2005 or SQL Server 2008.

First, the following XML is saved to XML file C:\Products.xml.

Error: Encountered multiple versions of the same assembly with GUID...try pre-importing...TlbImp

Hi!  Can someone tell me how I can troubleshoot the following error: "Encountered multiple versions of the same assembly with GUID...try pre-importing one of these assemblies".

The website developed in VS 2010 (.Net 3.5). This error is only received on my workstation.  Another person developing the site does not experience this issue at all.  Also, not sure if this matters, but on my workstation the 'Assembly Information...' dialog contains no values even though the 'AssemblyInfo.vb' file does specify values for the title, desc, etc.  The GUID being referenced in the error is the main project of the three projects within the solution.

I tried looking through the GAC, but do not see any references to the projects or DLLs in the VS solution and am not sure what else/where to look.

If I delete the copy of the solution on my local machine and pull down a copy from source control (AnkhSVN) the solution will build with no error.  Once I make any changes, such as adding a new aspx file, then the error is received.

I can provide any additional information needed.

xml import to database

Hello. I have XML document I use for backups..

I am using this code for importing XML to database:

protected void uvoziPodatkeXML(string backup, int tabela, string destinacijaTabela)
            DataSet reportData = new DataSet();

            FileStream filestream = File.OpenRead(lblPotIzvozi.Text + txtIme.Text + backup);
            BufferedStream buffered = new BufferedStream(filestream);

            //reportData.ReadXml(lblPotIzvozi.Text + txtIme.Text + backup);

            SqlConnection povezava = new SqlConnection(Convert.ToString(Session["cs"]));
            SqlBulkCopy sbc = new SqlBulkCopy(Convert.ToString(Session["cs"]), SqlBulkCopyOptions.KeepIdentity);
            sbc.DestinationTableName = destinacijaTabela;

But there is a problem when XML file is very large, larger than 50MB, it lasts forever to import to database.. I was searching over google, and saw that datasets are terrible slow for this operation.. I found some other methodes for use, but don't know there are no examples, that could help me.

Did someone work on this before?

thanks, yevgeni

While Importing Excel 2007 file to Datatable - headerrow problem

Hi there,

I am trying to simply extract an excel data from an uploaded file an put it into a datatable. In this case the excel file has 3 rows but when I fill the datatable I only see row count of 2.

I tried changing HDR:NO; to HDR:YES and vice versa, but no luck.

What am I doing wrong? (Note: the excel file cannot have a  headerrow)

string connstr = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" + pFilePath + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 12.0;IMEX=1;HDR:NO;\"";
            OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection(connstr);
            DataTable dtTables = conn.GetOleDbSchemaTable(System.Data.OleDb.OleDbSchemaGuid.Tables, null);
            string strTablename = dtTables.Rows[0]["TABLE_NAME"].ToString();
            string strSQL = "SELECT * FROM [" + strTablename + "]";

            OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand(strSQL, conn);

            DataTable dt = new DataTable();
            OleDbDataAdapter da = new OleDbDataAdapter(cmd);
            //At this point row count=2 which doesn't make sense

XML Schemas: Take Advantage of Existing External XML Schemas with a Custom Import Framework in ASP.N

Over the years, many industry-standard XML schemas and dialects have been developed. These industry-specific schemas embrace the original purpose of XML and are extremely valuable in promoting and supporting B2B interaction. Unfortunately, the ASP.NET Web Services runtime does not allow developers to directly reference external schemas from within their XML Web Services interface (the WSDL file). This article builds an external schema framework as an extension to the ASP.NET Web Services runtime to enable you to reference external schemas within your XML Web Service interface.

Versioning Issues With Optional Arguments

One nice new feature introduced in C# 4 is support for named and optional arguments . While these two features are often discussed together, they really are orthogonal concepts. Let's look at a quick example of these two concepts at work. Suppose we have a class with one method having the following signature. // v1 public static void Redirect( string url, string protocol = "http" ); This hypothetical library contains a single method that takes in two parameters, a required string url and an optional string protocol . The following shows the six possible ways this method can be called. HttpHelpers.Redirect( "http://haacked.com/" ); HttpHelpers.Redirect(url: "http://haacked.com/" ); HttpHelpers.Redirect( "http...(read more)
