Sharepoint drive mapping

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hello All,

I have WSS3.0 services running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 Enterprise.

I have a batch file that I use to map all the network drives we have in the company.

I decided to add an extra network drive to map a sharepoint application.

The problem is that fom time to time, when the login script runs and maps the network drives, it asks for username and password.

Sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't.

Does anyone have any clue abou this.

I really appreciate any help it can be provided.

Problem Mapping a Sharepoint folder to a drive in Windows XP

I can map a folder on sharepoint from a Windows Vista machine with the following command line

NET USE z: "http://srv-nam/sites/folder-1/folder-2"

...and it works just fine.

If I then logon with exactly the same user to a Windows XP box and type exactly the same command I get

Failed with system error 67; Network name cannot be found

Note that this is not a HTTPS issue as the server is not set up to respond to HTTPS requests.

Does anyone have any ideas how I get the Windows XP box working please?

Word save file on SharePoint via mapped drive

Hi, I have a Document Library mapped to a drive letter. I am able to browse the drive through Windows Explorer. However when I try to save a document to the drive Word returns, 'Unable to connect to the Web server.' .  I have been unable to find any information regarding this error message. If I try to create a document in the Document Library through Windows Explorer and the mapped drive, I get a different error message: 'Unable to create the file 'New Microsoft Office Word Document.docx' There is no user session key for the specified logon session.' After I click OKand refresh the directory, a 0 KB New Microsoft Word Document.docx file has been created. When that file is opened, it is in Read-Only mode.

SharePoint read/recognize a Digital Signature in Word (XML Content Control Mapping)?

I am using Content Control Mapping to pull certain fields from a Word Document and include it as columns when a document is uploaded into a Document Library. We're using MOSS 2007 and Word 2007. It is required that the user digitally signs the document before uploading.  Is there a way to get the signature to appear as a column in a similar fashion?  I'm new to this mapping business, and Google hasn't been much help. I realize I could use the Collect Signatures workflow, but that seems cumbersome to 1) have the user submit it, 2) have an admin open each document and start the workflow and 3) have the user THEN sign the document.  That's more steps than simply manually opening and verifying digital signatures. I figure I'm missing something obvious here.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Moving sharepoint database from one drive to other

I am having the sharepoint installed on c drive which doesn't have much space. Is it possible to move the content database to some other drive on the machine. If yes, then what is the procedure and do i have to make changes anywhere related to these changes? Also is there any possibility of something going wrong somewhere during this process? thanks in advance!

I have a question about sharepoint url mapping with domain url.

Our server name is 'Com1'(100.100.xxx.xxx)and join the domain 'AD'. And dns name is 'sp.company.com'. I connect to sharepoint from users'pc with url '100.100.xxx.xxx' or ''sp.company.com'. It well done. But when I connect to Remote Desktop to '100.100.xxx.xxx'  and connect to sharepoint(machine self) with url 'sp.company.com', not connect. And if type IP directly, it well done. I want to modify TFS's sharepoint url to domain url, but I can't above situation. Anyone help me.

Programmatically Mapping Custom SharePoint Column on Non-browser Enabled InfoPath Form

I have an InfoPath form, which, due to control requirements, is not browser enabled. It is being programmatically added as a content type to SharePoint (MOSS 2007). All users have Office 2007 installed so they will be able to open the form. I also have a custom multi-line column in the SharePoint document library. I can manually publish the form and map the column to a field of the form, but I need to be able to do this programmatically.

We are currently deploying the forms by modifying the publish url in the xsf during install. We have tried to modify the site coulmn GUID in the template xsf during install without success.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can programmatically promote the InfoPath field so it is visible in SharePoint?

Accessing Sharepoint 2010 root throught network drive

When I try to go to \\sp_domain\ I am presented with 2 network shares which I can't open afe15108-b347-4a9d-ba3a-1426636526d4-query-1  and afe15108-b347-4a9d-ba3a-1426636526d4-query-2.

If I navigate to \\sp_domain\site I get a list of libraries and sub sites as one would expect.

Does any one have any thoughts as to why I am unable to see list of sites and libraries at the root level?

Move SharePoint Document Library Files to Local Drive

How can I move files uploaded into a MOSS 2007 Document library to a local drive? I need to automate this as a job, not a one-time process. Can I use SSIS for it? File Systems Task works fine so long as I create a map drive to the portal. I have tried both the http address and the UNC path to the portal.

Domain Group Policy to Map user folder in Sharepoint Library to network drive

This is complicated- and try as I might I can't get it right. I am running SBS 2008 SP2 with WSS 3.0 SP3.

I have my sharepoint site at http://companyweb. I have WebClient and WebPublishing services enabled.

The scenario I am trying for:

I have a document library in Sharepoint called Wellness Boxes. Inside this library each domain user has a folder- these folders are to store personal files. Each folder is configured with permissions via Sharepoint so that only the user and their direct manager has access. When a user enters the library, they only see their own folder.

I am trying to map this situation to network places. I want users to be able to click Start>Computer>Network and see a drive labeled Companyweb. Entering that drive will show them the document library Wellness Boxes, and only their own folder will be visible.

I need to do this at a domain level through Group Policy so it applies to all users and all computers. Drive letters do not matter. Permissions do matter.

Can anyone help me please?

Map SharePoint Document Library as network drive

I'm trying to map a SharePoint document library to a network drive but I'm getting so errors one is

"The drive could not be mapped because no network was found."

and the other is

"The workstation driver is not installed."

I have no clue what is wrong, connecting from another computer to another server works fine, but from this one i can't connect to any sharepoint document library.

Using the view in explorer from the SharePoint site gives me access to the folder without any problems. So I guess something is wrong on this end.

Running Windows XP Pro SP2 and the Webclient service is started.

Can someone please help?

Problems Mapping Drive Letter on Windows XP

Good Afternoon all,

I am having issues mapping drive letters to document libraries in WSS 3 via Windows XP.  For some reason Windows Vista will work with no problems at all, but Windows XP will just say "The Network Path http://xxx Could Not Be Found".  I am wondering if I need to do something different with Windows XP than what I am doing with Vista.

Here is what I am using, copied DIRECTLY from the sharepoint site.

We have numerous Document LIbraries in Sharepoint, but this one in particular is names "Sales Docs" and yes there is a space.  What do I need to do differently with XP to get this to work?

Thanks for your help all.

User Profile Picture Mapping - Use existing SharePoint image library?

In SharePoint 2007 we did not use the Profile Pictures, but would like to start using them.  At the time, a consultant set up a separate picture library for the employee photos that was managed by the HR department.  Is it possible to somehow map the Profile Picture property to the images in this library?  Or do we have to upload them to each user's profile?  Our AD administrators do not know how to set AD up to use the URLs, so coming at it from that angle was a dead end.

Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor
