SPD Workflow stuck on "In progress" after hitting Pause

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have a customer who is using SP Designer to build a workflow with some Custom Actions.
One of the actions is create a new site based in some properties form current item. The file will be attached to that site but they have to wait a little bit for the site to be created. So they are using a Pause action set for 1 min (this will make it 6 on the timer) . The issue is that after they hit the Pause the workflow never completed or getting any error.
The status of the workflow remains on "in Progress".
They know that it never wakes up because they set a lot of Logs on the history so they can track the process. And even after 4 hours the pause is still on.

How to make the Workflow Status remain "In Progress" when a task is "Rejected"

Hi Sir/Mam,

I have a work flow running on a list, when a task is Rejected at a stage then the Workflow status is set to "Completed". Instead of this I want the Status to remain as "In Progress", so that in future after the modification of the document the Approver may Approve it and then take it to the next stages. This is not possible if the Workflow is set to "Completed".

Can you please suggest an easy way to do this

Thanks in Advance

Workflow stuck on starting When using Win 7 / Office 2007

I've recently created custom workflows for a document approval process. At first I set the workflows to be started manually, for testing purposes and everything worked well. However when I changed the workflows to start automatically I started get problems. The workflow progress would stick on "Starting". Im running Win 7 And Office 2007, so i decided to do some troubling shooting on a different machine (XP and 2003) This time the workflow work perfectly...!   It is really strange as to why the workflows work fine on XP and 2003 and not with Win 7 and 2007. Can anybody shed any light on this or had the same problem? Thanks Chris

User Profile Syncronization - Stuck in Progress

Hi all, I have been working to get some of the MySite properties exported to Active Directory (such as thumbnailphoto). Today, I created a new domain service account (sa-sharepointadds) and granted it the nesecarry permissions on the domain. In SP, I configured the User Profile Sync to connect to the domain and do a full sync (import only at this time) which completed correctly. I then enabled exporting a couple of profile properties and started another sync. I saw in the Application Event Log that an error occured, so I used the FIM Sync Service Manager application to view the steps and the errors. I saw that the sync was running with my sa-sharepoint service account which is the Farm account and not the sync account sa-sharepointadds, and that a permission error occured because this account has no rights to modify Active Directory. I went into the User Profile Sync Connection and verified the correct account was in use and it was. I then went to Security > Configure Service Accounts and saw that I needed to change the service account for the User Sync service. I changed it to the sa-sharepointadds account. I went back to User Profile Sync, however my connection had disappeared. I tried to create a new connection and got the error that a sync is already in progress and that I cannot make changes until it finishes. I knew that nothing was currently running, so I did an iis

Stuck in Page Approval Workflow "Do-Loop"

My colleagues and I are building an intranet site. I have created a page, and am attempting to submit it, so my colleague can add content. So far I have gone through this process 18 times (to no avail): 1) Checked Page In 2) Submitted Page on the Publish Tab 3) Opened Status window on Publish Tab. Selected the open Approval Workflow. Selected Edit. Selected Approve. Hit OK. I receive confirmation emails -- yes, the page has been submitted. yes, the page has been approved. Checking back at the Status page, the workflow shows that it is complete/approved HOWEVER -- my colleague cannot access the page. It shows on her screen that the page is checked out and I am editing it. When I click on the page link, it opens immediately in the EDIT PAGE view (with Editing Tools already launched)...it will not allow me to get out of this mode. Also, if this is germane, the auto-generated URL ends in "ControlMode=Edit&DisplayMode=Design"...

Pause workflow

I need to insert a pause until date part into my workflow or event handler. How do i do it correctly in MOSS2007 ?

Unable to resume Sharepoint Designer workflow after Pause For Duration action

Workflow in unable to resume after the time, set in the "Pause For Duration" action.
is there any Hotfix for SharePoint server 2007 to be installed on the server?

workflow pause and event handlers

Hi All,

No matter what I do, if I pause my workflow, and then update a list item after the pause is over, my event handler on update list item will not fire, though the item has been updated! No matter I use Set Field or Update Field, same result. If I do not use pause, it will fire.

I need pause to give user sometime to react, if he doesnt then remind him. Can use Wait Until Due Date etc., but why not pause. (Not sure, if event firing will work with Wait Until Due Date even.)

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Workflow status "In progress" remains after everything has been executed

I'm running into a problem with visual studio workflows I'm using in my solution. It appears that some workflows randomly don't finish while the same workflow finishes just fine for an other listitem. So I got a small test envoirment which creates 30 listitems and starts the same workflow (with 1 task inside) for all those items. After that I got some custom code which alters every task to be finished. So when the problem appears the task inside the workflow is finished, but the workflow itself remains "In progress".

Only 3 - 5 out of 30 workflows usually remain "In progress" and sometimes every workflow is finished, so I'm wondering what the cause could be here? Sometimes a single workflow also remains "In progress" so the heavy load due to many workflows being finished at the same time can't be the reason in my opinion.

Workflow stuck on "Starting"

Started upgrade some of my workstation to W7/Office 2010. I've noticed that when users on these computers trigger a workflow to start, it gets stuck on starting. However, for users on a Win XP/Office 2007 system, when they trigger a workflow it starts perfectly fine.

The workflow gets stuck only when someone using Office 2010. Has anyone come experienced this issue and how did you resolve it?

We are using WSS 3.0.

Workflow Stuck in Starting process

I've had Sharepoint 2007 Server running for quite sometime now where we have managers creating documents. these workflows use to run and complete but now they're stuck in starting process. if i terminate the workflow and run it again, it works. its only when i create the element is when it doesn't complete

Share Point 2010 Workflow throws error Workflow Failed to run when using a Pause Untill condition

I need to define a workflow where every night it checks the end date and if it is in past it should delete that list item. To achieve this I defined two workflows on the list which satrt when item created or modified. One workflow just checks the date and if past deletes the item. Another workflow I have defined as timer workflow which pauses untill 1am next day and then updates a hidden filed in the list item which triggers another instance of the timer workflow as well as deletion workflow.

Everything works fine if I remove the pause Until action, but if I use Pause Until or Pause For Duration the workflow does not resume and throws error workflow failed to run.

I googled and found this issue with 2007 and some hotfixes but could not find any solution for 2010 Anyone experienced the same issue?

MVC2 issue - Stuck. Trying to create a cms with nested partials

I am currently trying to display multiple items on a single page. I am not sure as to how to tackle this. What I have is a database table that has all the page data in. I have this run as a PagesController and this works fine. However what I would like to do is, if say the Products page is selected via the menu, I want to pull back not only the Products page html but also get all the products, and even be able to pull them through via category. I was trying to use a partial view, but I can't get it to work. The same would be for other pages, having partial views to display the other content, ie if Gallery is selected, the page html for Gallery shows and it then can push to a partial view that pulls all the gallery images from the gallery db table and so on.

Maybe I am tackling this the wrong way. I have the pages stored in the db to allow for a CMS system I have setup. Maybe I need to use models for all the other items(Products, Gallery, Videos and such) and use the partial for the page html?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am confused.

debugger is not hitting the breakpoint

I made a class library, all dlls of all the helping class library.for debugging it put the breakpoints at specifiv locations. It worked fine for 2 times but at third time it jumped the breakpoints, I dont know why????
I displayed the strings before and after the breakpoints to check that is it actualy going to the breakpoint,!! yes it is going to the breakpoint but not stopping on it. I did'nt made any changes to any settings.
On google I found something in tool-->Options-->general-->check the unhandaled execptions but I m using VS 2005 , I could not found any check box regarding unhandeled execptions or breakpoints.
I tryied these methods also
1. Using precision guided missiles: Delete the .pdb files in your obj and bin folders. Recompile. Run.
2. Carpet bomb all .dlls: Delete and reload all the referenced .dlls (Like your class projects)
3. Release a WMD: delete the contents of the very obj and bin folders itself so that all  .pdbs and .dlls are annihilated. Reload the .dlls required and give it a shot.
4. VS.Net magic: Close VS.Net and restart. Rebuild. Run.

but all is fruitless
Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
