ASP.Net Gridview Edit Update Cancel Commands

In ASP.Net 2.0, GridView Control also provides the functionality to edit and update the data retrieved from the database using CommandField template. You can cancel the action using Cancel Command of the CommandField. GridView consists of events that can be used to perform the actions like edit, update and cancel upon the Data items displayed in the ASP.Net GridView Data Control.

Problem with "Edit" and "Delete" buttons in gridview!

Hi everyone. I have problem with the buttons Edit and Delete in Gridview for very long time and i really need help about it. So i have gridview and sqldatasource. First i try to make this buttons manually and as you will see in sqldatasource 5 and 6 i have these buttons my records show up but the buttons not working. After that i was advised to do it automatically with gridview smart tag options and Generate columns - this is what i did in sqldatasource7 and gridview7. But both ways i need to change the statements with my own because that what they create not works. So select statement works. Now the error that i get in both ways is the same:The GridView 'GridView(the number could be 5,6 or 7)' fired event RowEditing which wasn't handled.See how looks my page:Now here's my code in aspx:<%@ Page Language="C#" Title="Specific Search in Phone Directory" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default3.aspx.cs" Inherits="Default3" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="cc1" %> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head id="Head1" runat="serv

Help with programmatically set Edit, Update in Gridview

 I'm at the front end of allowing the user to update their data that requires nested gridviews.

I thought I had it set up correctly, but; once I have the grivdiew in Edit mode, when I move the cursor to the first row's textbox, the routine switched out of Edit mode (without a clicking on the Update). I would like to update the data on the screen before the program decides to update the db.

What's causing this?

Here's my aspx page as follows:

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" EnableEventValidation="false" CodeFile="RONs_UPDATING.aspx.vb" Inherits="RONs_UPDATING" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

GridView Edit Update function

 I have a gridview and am using the Edit - Update function to update one field in my gridview. I have the textbox appearing as I want it and am able to update the data for that cell.

The problem I have is refreshing the gridview after the update. The Update and cancel are still shown instead of the gridview refreshing back to the Edit statement after the update.

Any ideas what I need to add to get the gridview column to refresh back to the edit statement?

how to perform Edit/Update & cancel in the grid view .. already the data is there in the gridview

public partial class EditRole : System.Web.UI.Page

    DataSet DsCheckRole = new DataSet();

        if (!Page.IsPostBack)

            //Filling the grid with RoleNames

    private void GetRoleNames()

GridView - Update and Delete (using EntityDataSource) with ImageButtons above gridview

I create a gridview on default.aspx page (I used entityframework as my datasource).
I've tested CRUD operations by adding command column to my grid and this is all working OK.

I've added 4 image buttons (Insert, Edit, Delete, View Details) above the grid (buttons are not part of the grid).

Now I would like those buttons to work with gridview.

Here is what I have so far (for default insert);

        protected void imgBtnAdd_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
            GridView1.DataSourceObject.GetView("EntityDataSourceView").Insert(new OrderedDictionary(), DefaultOperationCallback);

This adds new record to database with default values (set in database)

I believe I should work on "OrderedDictionary" to set correct values.

I plan to call Edit.aspx on record just inserted. (But I believe I should try something before asking questions)

So my question for now is:

How to perform those CRUD operations with those 4 ImageButtons?

How to perform insert, update, delete and select rows in ASP.NET gridview control using stored proce

In this article, we will explore how to add, update, delete and select a record from sql server database using gridview control in a simple way. I'm using visual studio 2010 and sql server 2008 for this sample.

Inplace Edit in GridView

In this article I am presenting a different way to look at EditItemTemplate, using which user navigation for editing is reduced and . it looks very different (see screeen shots) then regular implementation of GridView.

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Edit GridView Individual Cells in ASP.NET

The ASP.NET GridView allows for a row of data to be edited by setting the EditIndex property of the GridView, placing the entire row in edit mode.

You may not want the entire row in edit mode if you are using DropDownList controls for several columns in the EditItemTemplate. If each DropDownList has many options then loading them all at once may result in a sluggish page. Also, if your data structure is more like a 2 dimensional array rather than a set of rows, you may want to edit each cell individually.

Here I will demonstrate how to achieve this and also how to deal with event validation without disabling it.

How to format and update GridView and DataGrid rows using JQuery

The behavior described in this question is as expected. When you set text of a cell in grid, it directly affects HTML that is going to be rendered. When you set text value of a cell, it means that you are setting innerText of the cell. The column that GridView creates for command fields (Edit, Delete and Select) are a (anchor) or button elements. So you can see what will happen if you set text value in that cell. It will wipe out those link or button controls and replace them with simple text string.
