Need a CSS Friendly Menu Adapter in with I can assign each first-level menu item a different CSS?

According to my project requirments I have to create an ASP.Net menu with each menu item having a different background image.

For this I need a CSS Friendly Adapter, I have searched alot and found this one Horizontal Menu Adapter .

Now I have a question regarding the web.sitemap defined in an example that comes with this above adapter code-

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<siteMap >
  <siteMapNode url="Nothing.aspx" title="Nothing"  description="Nothing">
    <siteMapNode url="Home.aspx" title="Home"  description="Home"></siteMapNode>
  <siteMapNode url="Forum.aspx" title="Forum"  description="Forum" >
    <siteMapNode url="MyPost.aspx" title="My Posts" description="My Post"/>
    <siteMapNode url="AllPost.aspx" title="All Posts" description="All Posts"/>
    <siteMapNode url="NewPost.aspx" title="New Posts" description="New Posts"/>

Can't get an Icon to show for Desktop shortcut and Program Menu

I've created a SetupWizard, but can't get it to show the Icon for the shortcut on desktop and program menu. The installation goes fine without any errors, the only problem is the icon.

I've made a shortcut of my exe file in the Application Folder and dragged the shortcut to the Desktop folder, then on the shortcut properties, I assigned it an icon picture located in Application Folder.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

How to keep the hover for Parent menu and set the selected menu item css for child menu item?

I'm using cssfriendly control adapter for menu. My asp.net menu control's datasource is a sitemap file I'm using which contains all the urls.

I have the following questions:

  1. Is there a way to keep the parent menu item hovered while hovering over the respective child menu items?
  2. Is there a way to keep the child menu item selected? I am able to set the css for the parent menu, however I was wondering if the same is possible with the child items.

Please help! Smile

ASP.NET 4.0 Menu Top Level selected item style

I want to apply a css class to the level 1 menu item (parent) when it or any or it's children are selected.

I've looked at MSDN documentation and any number of examples and walkthroughs but I haven't come up with a way of managing this. I was thinking something like this might work but the style is not being applied to the parent. To further complicate matters, if I try to apply a css style to StaticSelectedStyle it doesn't pick it up at all.

Menu Markup:

<StaticSelectedStyle  Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="#3333CC" />

Code Behind:

        protected void MenuItemClick_NavMenu(Object sender, MenuEventArgs e)

            MenuItem parentItem = e.Item.Parent;

            if (parentItem != null)

                parentItem.Selected = true;

Dynamic menu control

Dear all,

I want to get the names of some folders in my drive and populate my menu control with the names of those folders.

Getting the folder names is not the issue, but how can i populate my menu with the names of getted foldernames.

I tried this:

DirectoryInfo dirInfo = new DirectoryInfo(Server.MapPath("~\\MyFolders\\"));
DirectoryInfo[] dirs = dirInfo.GetDirectories();
Menu1.DataSource = dirs;

But im getting the error:

HierarchicalDataBoundControl only accepts data sources that implement IHierarchicalDataSource or IHierarchicalEnumerable.

How can i achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

Menu Control

Hi all

Ive got a Menu Control linked to Web.sitemap but would like a step by step example of how

to make it look and behave like the one I found here:-

Is there somewhere I can download an example of this or one similar?

Menu items of Welcome control behaves incorrect in non-IE browsers.

We are using wss 3.0 sp2

I am referring to the welcome control that is part of standard sharepoint pages. This is the in the masterpage. The welcome contrrol has options such as 'sign-in as different user' , 'signout' and so on. When user takes the mouse and tries to click on the sub-menu it doesn't work as if the menu item is not getting focussed (however up/down arrow with keyboard works fine).

I know that sharepoint sites are not best when viewed with firefox, safari, chrome etc  but is there a fix for this? Is it do with 'z' index setting or something? Can this be fixed through javascript?

Please share your views/solution.

Menu control rendering issue with IE8

Using VS2010, I created an ASP.NET 4.0 web application and simply added a couple of menu items below the "Home" menu item in the master page that's created by the project wizard. I made no other changes - no code, no stylesheet changes.

If I run the app locally then everything is fine. I suspect because the local IIS is responsive enough for the problem not to occur.

If I deploy the app to a web host (discountasp.net) then I see the menu render vertically for less than a second before it renders correctly. If I refresh the page a few times then usually I can see the menu vertical flash but sometimes I can't, so there's some sort of timing consideration.

I'm using IE8. The problem doesn't seem to occur with either Firefox 3 or Chrome.

Have others seen this problem?

Any suggestions for a fix?

I can supply the zipped up project if anyone wants it.

Creating a new document in Document Library from custom menu item (in the ECB)

Hello! I created a custom menu item in the ECB for a document library. I'd like for this to create a new document from this menu item. Additionally, I'd like to create a workflow where the Title of the document from which the menu action originates is inserted into a custom textfield in the new document that is created. Is this possible using SharePoint Designer?

The OTHER Menu control issue...

Ok, everyone knows that the z-index is messed up in IE8 and that requires patches or workarounds...What I can't seem to find a solution to is the white background on the DynamicMenu parts of a Menu control.  Setting the background color to transparent or not setting it all doesn't seem to have any effect.  This is only a problem in IE8, Firefox 3.6.8 renders the dynamic menus without the white background.

disable browser keys & menu functions

I ran across a few links on making an asp.net app fullscreen with javascript.    But I'd also like to keep users withing my app unless they log out.    How do you disable ctrl-esc, ctrl-c, window, selection & right mouse click?    Are there any other keys you can use to prevent a user from either copying data from a browser window or closing it?     That would also mean eliminating or suppressing the upper right hand minimize & close buttons in browser windows and the file menu.     If the code is specific to internet explorer then I'd also have to check whether their browsing from a firefox browser, unless the code would be the same for both.

Menu Item Spacing

I'm trying to use the menu control for the first time in ASP.NET and everything is fine except for the fact that I can't seem to change the item spacing property. My menu is a horizontal menu where the menu items have come from a sitemap file. I've tried changing the menu item spacing in both the dynamic and state menu item properties but nothing seems to change it. I've also tried changing the item spacing via css but that doesn't work either. Any ideas why this might be?<asp:Menu ID="mnuNavigation" runat="server" DataSourceID="mnuNavigationDataSource" Font-Names="Corbel" Font-Size="16pt" Orientation="Horizontal"> <StaticMenuItemStyle ForeColor="White" /> </asp:Menu> <asp:SiteMapDataSource ID="mnuNavigationDataSource" runat="server" ShowStartingNode="False" />
