Hidden cells become visible when PageIndexChanging fired

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I am having an issue with hidden cells when a PageIndexChanging event is fired in a gridview.

On the page_load I am setting the visibility of an edit button in a cell of a gridview to true or false depending on a users credentials.

Everything works as intended when the page is first loaded. When I click to a different page index the edit button is visible in all cells when it shouldn't be. The edit button is then visible in all cells even if I navigate back to the first page.

Here is the pageindexchanging event:

protected void GridView_EmployeeList_PageIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e)

{

    GridView_EmployeeList.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;

    GridView_EmployeeList.DataBind();

}

Here is some code from the page_load:

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)

{

    foreach (GridViewRow row in GridView_EmployeeList.Rows)

        {

             If(row.Cells[1] == "Manager")

                  {

What event (if any) is fired on calling ShowDialog on hidden window

I initialize a window at the launch of my application and hide it, so that when the user needs to launch it I can quickly show it. I am using showDialog to show the window. I use this window at multiple places. So when the user is done using the window I again hide it. My question is how does the window know that it is visible. 'Loaded' event is no longer fired when I can ShowDialog to show the window. ('Loaded' event is fired the first time I create the window and hide it). Is there any other event that is fired on calling 'ShowDialog' on a hidden window? Thanks for your response.

dont show JS hidden row after server event fired

Hi all,

i designed a gridview named outergrid and within that GV i designed a innerGrid, when the user click on expand button from the outergrid then the inner grid have to show. Now im doing some row filter works using JS, let us assume i have 5 rows in outergrid after filtered first 2 rows will be hiden so now 3 rows displaying, when user clicks on the expand button then im calling RowCommand Event of outergrid now the child grid has populated but the problem is 2 hiden rows(on outergrid) are now visible, how to make these hiden rows not to show while populate innergrid.

Problems with postbacks, visible/hidden controls

Greetings,

I am having some unusual issues with web forms on my public-facing internet servers.  I can run everything fine both locally and on my internal intranet servers.  I have forms that show or hide table rows depending on what step you are on in the form.  This form reads and writes to a SQL database via a Web Service.  I have eliminated AJAX or JavaScript issues by creating a simple test form that is showing the same erronious behavior...

Web Service:

using System;
using System.IO;
using System.Web.Services;
using System.Xml;
using taExternalTestTableAdapters;

namespace nsExternalTest
{
    [WebService(Namespace = "nsExternalTest")]
    [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)]
    public class ExternalTest : System.Web.Services.WebService
    {

        public ExternalTest()
        {
        }

        [WebMethod]
        public int GetEmpID(string empLogin)
        {
            EmpTableTableAdapter taEmp = new EmpTableTableAdapter();
            return Convert.ToInt32(taEmp.GetEmpID(empLogin));
        }
        [WebMethod]
        public bool InsertMessage(string message, string empID)
        {
            bool success = true;
            try
            {
                TestTableTableAdapter taTestTable = new TestTableTableAdapter();

Edit GridView Individual Cells in ASP.NET

The ASP.NET GridView allows for a row of data to be edited by setting the EditIndex property of the GridView, placing the entire row in edit mode.

You may not want the entire row in edit mode if you are using DropDownList controls for several columns in the EditItemTemplate. If each DropDownList has many options then loading them all at once may result in a sluggish page. Also, if your data structure is more like a 2 dimensional array rather than a set of rows, you may want to edit each cell individually.

Here I will demonstrate how to achieve this and also how to deal with event validation without disabling it.

Tab container rendered with visibility:hidden - This was reported over three years ago.

http://forums.asp.net/t/1109955.aspx?PageIndex=1

Here is (more) code that demonstrates the issue.  If the control in the host page is removed the tab control renders correctly.  Otherwise it is rendered with the visibility attrubute set to hidden as reported in the above link.  Is this broken or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Sam

Hidden variable has no value

I know I have a valid solution, but the js is telling me that the value in the hdnRecordSaved variable has no value!
Even when I specify in my function the following, it still tells me it has no value:
var myTextField = document.getElementById('hdnRecordSaved');
            alert(myTextField);

When I put the full value of the variable in (ctl00_ctl00_cphTopCenter_cphCenter_hdnRecordSaved.value), I get the correct contents back ("1"), which I set in my code behind. However, I would prefer to just put the short name in since the masterpages may change, etc. Unfortunately, I know I can get around this with VS2010, but we are using VS2008.

What am I doing wrong with the js naming conventions that can't give me the contents? Here is my below js.

<asp:Panel ID="pnlMapFields" runat="server" ScrollBars="Both" Height="430px">

<telerik:RadTreeView ID="RadTreeView1" runat="server" DataTextField="Description"

DataFieldParentID="MapFieldparentID" DataF

System.IO.Packaging is not visible

I am new to ASP.net, I installed VS2005 and IIS 5 on my PC and set up my first website using IIS (not the embedded webserver in VS).

For some reason I cannot find the Assembly: "System.IO.Packaging", please let me know if I am allowed to use it in that medium and how can I reference it?

Thanks in advance.

Collect Feedback workflow hidden field

Hello all,

I am using the out of box Collect Feedback workflow.  It works well for most part.  However I would like to get reviewer's feedback to be shown on a Dashboard.  Is there a way to expose that information in a Data View?  I couldn't figure out which data field stores the feedback information.

Thanks.

"31 cells could not be pasted"

I have a wss3 list containing several hundred rows.  We wanted to update the data from our source (which uses the same metadata layout as our list) so I copied the entire source data and pasted it into our list. When I did I got the error shown in the Title above. I looked at the list and nothing appears to be missing from it.

Assuming the Title is correct what can I do to see what data was not pasted successfully?

TIA,
