When MS DTC restarts

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 06, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi all,

We're setting up an SQL cluster, using Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. Apart from the discussion how to arrange the MSDTC resources (interesting as it may be), we have another concern. When the MS DTC resource restarts (for whatever reason), do the associated SQL services need to be restarted too? In other words: is there downtime for the applications that do not use DTC?

Thanks in advance!

vs2010 web deployment project restarts w3svc even when restartwwwservice = false

We've updated some of our projects from VS2008 to VS2010.  When these projects are deployed the w3svc is restarted on the target machine, even when restartwwwservice = false in the vdproj file.

This was a problem in 2008 until SP1 (http://forums.asp.net/p/1300097/2534736.aspx).  Does this same problem exist in VS2010?

This is a major problem for us -  we need to be able to deploy projects without restarting IIS.

I've tried creating a new web deployment package and setting the restartWWWService field to false, but this still does a restart when it's installed.

Has anyone come across this problem in VS2010?

ASP.Net - App Pool restarts because of file change notification

Hi All,IIS restarts everytime i delete a file. I came across this code which was supposed to fic the problem but the line f.GetValue(..) in last but one line returns null. Can anyone tell me why this is happening -//FIX disable AppDomain restart when deleting subdirectory//This code will turn off monitoring from the root website directory.//Monitoring of Bin, App_Themes and other folders will still be operational, so updated DLLs will still auto deploy.System.Reflection.PropertyInfo p = typeof(System.Web.HttpRuntime).GetProperty("FileChangesMonitor", System.Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Public | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Static);object o = p.GetValue(null, null);System.Reflection.FieldInfo f = o.GetType().GetField("_dirMonSubdirs", System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Instance | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.IgnoreCase);object monitor = f.GetValue(o);System.Reflection.MethodInfo m = monitor.GetType().GetMethod("StopMonitoring", System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Instance | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic); m.Invoke(monitor, new object[] { });

Log Reader Agent fails to restart when server restarts

when our server reboots and by way of that, SQL Server restarts, the Log Reader Agent fails to restart despite appearing to be set to do so (restart when SQL Server Agent starts).  SQL Server Agent does restart, but the LRA needs manual intervention.

InstanceLockedException when application restarts, using PersistableIdleAction.Persist

I'm working on a workflow system intended for long running workflows (WF 4.0). We are using WorkflowApplication as host, and the SqlWorkflowInstanceStore for workflow persistence.

The main point of using persistence is for running workflows to survive host application restarts and unexpected shutdowns. Every time an activity goes PersistableIdle, the workflow is persisted, and the workflow id, bookmarks etc. is persisted into another database.

If the application is restarted, data for the workflows that were running is loaded from the database (not the instancestore) and the workflows are restarted with the WorkflowApplication.Load(Guid id) method. (The WorkflowApplication is setup anew with the Activity and InstanceStore before Load is called).

This works fine as long as I return PersistableIdleAction.U

How to have WF instances automatically continue after a host restarts?

I haven't been able to figure out how to get WF 4.0 to automatically start persisted workflows when it starts up. In 3.5 this happened automatically. For example say your WF host crashes while running and restarts, I'm wanting to know how to have it grab the WF instances that were running previous and start them again.

Ordered Lists numbering restarts in RDLC files.

1: Create SQL statement

Set @val = '
<li> 1 </li>
<li> 2
    <ol>    <li> 2.1 </li>    <li> 2.2 </li>    </ol>
break continuation from 2</li> <!-- this causes the next li to start again at 1. If remd then order is correct.-->
<li> 3</li>
<li> 4</li>

Select @val

2: Create NEW rdlc file

3: Call the select statement into the report

4: set the exression to render as html
